Chapter 88 – Attacked from Both Sides
Just as expected—what you fear the most always ends up happening. Jiang Yuan gripped her Tang sword tightly and pulled Ye Mianmian behind her.
The man was cautious too, but surprisingly, he passed by them just barely.
Judging by his careful demeanor, he probably thought someone was hiding behind the two buildings.
Little did he know, they were actually on this side.
A perfect opportunity. Jiang Yuan made a hand signal and suddenly sprang out.
Though there were two or three meters between them, the man was also on guard and turned around quickly.
“Who’s there?!”
Jiang Yuan wasn’t intimidated. She swung the Tang sword at him head-on. The man held a long weapon in his hand too.
Instinctively, he blocked her attack, but she quickly raised her foot and kicked him with all her strength.
At the same time, she shouted, “Mianmian, hit him!”
Ye Mianmian rushed over. Although the flashlight had fallen to the ground, the figure of the man was still visible enough.
He hadn’t recovered from the kick yet when Ye Mianmian struck his abdomen hard with her bat.
Grunting in pain, he staggered back. Jiang Yuan didn’t miss the chance to continue her assault.
She barely managed to stab him in the shoulder. The man cried out and reached up to clutch his wound.
His weapon fell to the ground with a clatter. Ye Mianmian seized the opportunity and stabbed him with her dagger.
It was her first time killing someone—she even forgot to pull the knife out afterward.
The noise they made had already drawn attention. Jiang Yuan didn’t dare delay and pulled Ye Mianmian along as they ran.
Anyone hearing the commotion would likely assume there was trouble at the gas station’s warehouse.
They couldn’t head forward—only retreat along the way they came.
The two of them didn’t dare waste a second. Just as they ran past the restroom, they saw someone directly across from them.
A flashlight was already shining in their direction.
“There they are!”
More people nearby heard the noise and also started heading over.
Damn. The plan to escape through the vehicle entrance was no longer realistic.
People heading from the gas station were also arriving. With no other choice, Jiang Yuan dragged Ye Mianmian through a small side door into the main hall.
Thankfully, the lock on the door was still there. She quickly locked it.
A second later, a man came charging over and started banging on the door like crazy.
His mouth spewed obscenities. With danger so close, they had to run forward again.
There was still another door ahead—but it was too late. People from that side had already reacted.
Just as they turned, two men from the gas station rushed in.
There was no time to lock the door. Jiang Yuan quickly pulled Ye Mianmian back behind some tables placed in front of a food stall.
“Move it!”
They hurried to push two tables to block the path.
These were the kind of tables with four chairs attached, commonly used in cafeterias or fast-food joints.
Honestly, they weren’t much of a barrier—the tables were low, and tall people could easily climb over them.
But in a moment of crisis, it was all she could think of.
The remaining four men on the other side had arrived. Things were looking very bad for the two girls.
It was like being trapped in a cage—there was no way out. All they could do was fight.
Jiang Yuan held her Tang sword, Ye Mianmian wielded a baseball bat. Both stood ready for battle.
The flashlight from the other side shone directly in, lighting up everything inside the room.
“Just the two of you?”
The men clearly couldn’t believe it. Two delicate-looking girls had taken down two grown men?
And in such a short time? No way. They couldn’t believe it even if they were beaten to death.
“So what? If you’re scared, get lost,” Jiang Yuan said calmly, trying to create an illusion of confidence so they wouldn’t be underestimated.
If they backed off, even better.
“Heh… get lost? You killed two of my brothers. You think I’m letting you off tonight?”
The man at the front snarled and kicked a chair hard.
With considerable force, the table slid quickly toward the girls. Jiang Yuan shielded Ye Mianmian and retreated.
Damn, this guy had a nasty temper.
Looks like they needed to prepare to use the dimensional space.
She was ready at any moment, while closely observing their enemies.
“But I’m curious—did you stash all these supplies here?”
“That’s right. If you want them, we can split them in half.
In times like these, we’re all just trying to survive.”
The man scoffed, his tone carrying a hint of mockery.
“Sure, we’ll take the supplies. But my two brothers can’t die for nothing.
You two bitches have to pay with your lives!”
As he spoke, he raised the weapon in his hand.
Jiang Yuan noticed it looked like one of those long knives used to slice watermelons—typically used by fruit vendors.
Was this guy a fruit seller before?
“Third Bro, what’s the rush? These two babes are hot. Let the boys have some fun first,” said the short guy behind him with a perverted grin.
His eyes openly scanned Jiang Yuan and Ye Mianmian without a shred of shame.
Disgusting. Even now, his brain was still full of lust.
“Fine, we’ll f**k them to death. Consider it revenge for Da Mao and Xiao Qiang.”
All four men wore vile, lecherous grins. It was repulsive.
“Hmph. There’s a path to heaven but you won’t take it; there’s no door to hell but you insist on barging in.
Since you’re so eager to die, don’t blame me for showing no mercy,” Jiang Yuan said, eyes narrowed dangerously.
“Ooh, Third Bro, this one’s feisty! Can’t wait to make her beg me for mercy!” the short man sneered, stepping forward.
“Wait a second!”
“What are you screaming about? Say what you want already.”
Jiang Yuan wasn’t speaking to them—but to Ye Mianmian.
“Mianmian, we’re going all out today. Once we take care of these bastards, big sis will treat you to a feast.”
“Sure, Yuan-jie! Let’s have some fun today!” Ye Mianmian sneered coldly too.
This must be what it means to face death fearlessly.
After all, she’d rather die than let these monsters touch her.
The four men, hearing this, grew even more arrogant.
In their eyes, women were always physically weaker than men.
The short guy swaggered forward and slammed his long dagger into the table.
He used a lot of force—it actually stuck into the table.
“I’ll tell you—”
He didn’t even finish his sentence before Jiang Yuan’s sword had already fallen.
His head rolled across the floor and bumped against another man’s foot—who was utterly stunned.
It all happened in a flash. Even Ye Mianmian behind her hadn’t expected Jiang Yuan to strike so fast.
No chance for posturing—straight to the kill. Damn!
“Ah! M-Murder!”
The man knew two of his comrades had died already, but watching one die right in front of him was something else entirely.
He cried out and leapt back as if he’d seen a ghost.
The leader of the group was the first to react. Losing three brothers in a row had pushed him to the brink of collapse.
“You filthy bitches—I’ll kill you both!”
He charged at them.
Jiang Yuan reacted instantly, kicking the table in front of her.
The man staggered back a step but quickly braced himself and pressed down on the table.
