  ”Then Mr. Ji agreed?”

  ”certainly.”

Shen Mo breathed a sigh of relief, and even his back was wet with sweat. He was most afraid that Ji Mingxuan would say that he didn’t remember, that the past was gone and there was no need to mention it again, and directly sentence him to death.

Now that he had escaped death, he had to live a little longer.

The meal lasted a long time. Ji Mingxuan and Shen Mo were both preoccupied with their own thoughts, so they didn’t talk much afterwards. Ji Ning had already eaten his fill, and he was playing with his spoon out of boredom, looking around. He had played too much during the day, and soon he began to feel sleepy, yawning one after another, and nodding his head as if he would fall asleep at any moment.

Ji Mingxuan held his small arm and thought that it would be effortless to coax him to sleep.

After dinner, the two parted at the restaurant entrance and agreed that Ji Mingxuan would go to Shen Mo after Ji Ning fell asleep.

Ji Mingxuan put his arm around Ji Ning and walked back with him in his arms. He walked normally at first, but later he walked faster and faster, and returned to the room in just two or three steps.

Sister Chen had already eaten and was waiting in the living room. Ji Mingxuan asked her to help Ji Ning wash up, and then he personally changed Ji Ning’s pajamas and coaxed him to bed.

Ji Ning was originally drowsy, but when he got to the bed, he refused to sleep quietly. He insisted that Ji Mingxuan tell him a bedtime story and specifically asked to listen to the story of the big gray wolf and the little white rabbit.

Ji Mingxuan had no choice but to sit beside the bed and tell him: “Once upon a time, there was a little white rabbit…”

His voice was deep and pleasant on a night like this.

“Finally, the big gray wolf and the little white rabbit became good friends and lived happily together.”

Ji Ning sank into the quilt, blinking his eyes and said, “It seems that it was not like this last time…”

”That’s it,” Ji Mingxuan said softly with a solemn look in his eyes, “The big gray wolf and the little white rabbit love each other and will be together forever.”

After he finished speaking, he touched Ji Ning’s face and said, “Be good, go to sleep.”

Ji Ning has always been afraid of him, so he had to close his eyes and pout slightly.

Ji Mingxuan tucked the corner of the quilt for him, turned off the light and walked out of the room.

It was just past eight o’clock.

Ji Mingxuan went back to his room to change his clothes, found a pair of cufflinks from the drawer, put them on carefully, and then went out to find Shen Mo.

The door of Shen Mo’s room was ajar. Ji Mingxuan knocked twice, then pushed the door open and walked in. Shen Mo was busy packing his luggage. A large suitcase on the ground was stuffed full, and it was obvious that it had been packed.

Ji Mingxuan saw it and asked calmly, “Are you planning to leave?”

”Yes, I have lived here for many days and have had enough fun.”

Shen Mo folded the last piece of clothing and turned back to say, “Mr. Ji, please sit down for a moment.”

There was no terrace in Shen Mo’s room, only a floor-to-ceiling glass window, through which one could see the sea view. There were two chairs by the window, and Ji Mingxuan picked one and sat down.

Shen Mo poured him a glass of water and said, “I’m sorry to take up some of Mr. Ji’s time.”

”It’s okay,” Ji Mingxuan folded his hands on his legs and asked, “Is half an hour enough?”

Shen Mo immediately said: “That’s enough.”

His drawing board was placed in the middle of the room, with brushes and paints piled randomly. He searched for the color he needed, squeezed out some paint, and lowered his head to mix the colors carefully.

Ji Mingxuan glanced at him, then turned his head to look out the window and asked, “When did your hand get better?”

”It never got better. Now I paint with my left hand.”

”The injury should have healed long ago.”

”Well, the doctor said it was a psychological factor.”

”You have to overcome this on your own. No one else can help you.”

Yes, Shen Mo thought, there is someone who can.

He mixed the colors, tested them on paper, and was satisfied with them. He originally held the pen with his left hand, but after a moment’s hesitation, he switched to his right hand.

His hand holding the pen was shaking slightly.

Shen Mo tried his best to suppress the discomfort, walked to Ji Mingxuan with a pen in hand, and sat down on the chair opposite him.

Seeing that he didn’t take the drawing board, Ji Mingxuan asked in surprise: “Aren’t you going to draw?”

Shen Mo suddenly smiled and said, “That’s right.”

He reached out and held Ji Mingxuan’s left hand.

Ji Mingxuan’s hands were so beautiful, with long, white fingers, and only the ring finger had a trace of a ring. Shen Mo’s pen tip trembled slightly, and the first stroke fell on that position.

Ji Mingxuan was stunned for a moment and couldn’t help moving his fingers.

Shen Mo didn’t know where he got the strength from, and he pressed his hand tightly and said, “Mr. Ji, don’t move.”

  ”Shen Mo…”

”This paint can be washed off overnight. I have already booked a flight back home and will leave here tomorrow. I will definitely not disturb your life. Only tonight, only this time…” He said in a voice that could not be any lower, almost begging, “Let me finish this painting.”

  Ji Mingxuan suddenly became quiet.

  Shen Mo continued painting.

He was so nervous that a little sweat oozed out of the tip of his nose, but he didn’t care at all and just concentrated on drawing on Ji Mingxuan’s ring finger.

He drew it very carefully, and Ji Mingxuan looked at it carefully and saw that it was in the shape of a ring.

As Shen Mo painted, he said, “I heard from others that wedding rings should be worn on the left hand because it is closest to the heart.”

He changed to the purest red and lightly touched the center of the ring. The paint slowly melted and formed the shape of a heart.

Shen Mo still held Ji Mingxuan’s hand and looked up at him.

”Mr. Ji, my heart is here.” He might only have one chance to say this in his life, so he said it word by word, “It has been here since seven years ago.”
