Chapter 105: He Fell Asleep Beside Me

Ji Laili wanted to correct the misunderstanding but didn’t dare say it out loud—it was a little embarrassing, getting his mouth bitten like that…

Why did it sound so pathetic?

He should’ve kissed back, fiercely, and bitten Shen Yu’s lips instead!

With this grand ambition in mind, Ji Laili half-listened as Instructor Aiger, on the other end of the blue screen, showered Shen Yu with exaggerated praise. After finishing his speech, Aiger clicked his tongue, his tone turning irritable.

“I don’t even know what that brat Shen Yu is up to. He’s not responding to any messages.”

That, I do know.

Ji Laili: “He fell asleep beside me.”

“……”

Aiger: “Hah?”

“Are you kidding me?”

Aiger’s lips twitched in disbelief. This wasn’t even a funny joke—Shen Yu, sleeping next to an Alpha? What kind of hellish prank was this?

“Instructor, I’m not joking.”

The camera angle shifted suddenly, Ji Laili’s face disappearing from the screen. In its place was Shen Yu’s sleeping face, resting against an Alpha’s shoulder. A faint flush colored his cheeks, his breathing steady—he was deeply asleep.

Aiger’s expression froze.

He blinked. Then blinked again. Finally, his eyes widened. “Shen Yu?!”

His voice was so loud it echoed.

Shen Yu’s brows furrowed slightly, his eyelids fluttering, on the verge of waking—until a gentle hand covered his eyes.

Ji Laili waited four or five seconds, making sure Shen Yu hadn’t woken up before lowering his hand. He then turned back to the blue screen, disapprovingly addressing Aiger. “Instructor, be more composed.”

Aiger: “?”

Aiger exploded. “The hell?! Who’s the instructor here, you or me?! You all have no damn respect anymore—reflect on yourselves!”

Is this how you talk to your instructor?! Huh?!

Ji Laili let out a long sigh. Before Aiger could start breathing fire again, he quickly admitted, “I was wrong, Instructor. It’s all my fault. I was too reckless, I even forgot to address you properly.”

“Instructor, you’re a great and magnanimous man—don’t waste your energy getting mad at a mere student. It’s not worth it.”

Aiger huffed irritably. “At least you know. Just don’t mess up next time.”

“Next time?” Ji Laili frowned in distress, answering honestly, “It’s not that I want to piss you off, but I can’t guarantee what my future self will do.”

Seeing that Aiger, who had only just calmed down, was about to erupt again, Ji Laili quickly said, “Got it, got it, Instructor. I’ll remember.” But I won’t necessarily change.

Why do people get mad when I’m just being honest?

How can anyone predict what their future self will do until it happens?

Aiger let out a heavy sigh. “Why is Shen Yu asleep? Wait a minute…” He finally remembered something and narrowed his eyes at Ji Laili. “I recall you were undergoing treatment.”

“Is it finished?”

“It’s finished. I can successfully release my pheromones now. It’s just that…” Ji Laili’s gaze flickered. “Dr. Agu said I need to go a few more times.”

Aiger had originally thought that since Ji Laili’s pheromone issue was resolved, a few extra sessions wouldn’t matter. But noticing his hesitation, an internal alarm went off.

His eyes narrowed dangerously. “What else? Did the Imperials come after you again?”

Could it be… related to the serum he wanted to warn Ji Laili about?

Aiger’s expression turned serious, already considering countermeasures—until he heard Ji Laili say, “…My heat hit, and I marked Shen Yu.”

Ah, so that’s what happened. His heat triggered, and he marked Shen Yu…

Wait.

Aiger’s head snapped up, his expression cracking.

“You said what?”

“……”

After a few minutes of processing the truth, Aiger found himself at a complete loss for words.

Ji Laili, sensing the shift, quickly changed the topic. “Instructor, why don’t we talk about something else? Like, say… the Imperials?”

As expected, the Imperials were the Federation’s greatest enemy. The moment Ji Laili brought them up, Aiger finally snapped out of his daze, forcing himself to look away from Shen Yu.

But the next second, he realized he didn’t have to.

Because the camera had moved—Shen Yu was no longer in view.

Now, Ji Laili’s face filled the screen as he leaned in closer. “Instructor, what do you need me to do?”

“……”

For the sake of the mission, Aiger swallowed his irritation. “Our suspicions were correct. The Imperials are experimenting with a new serum.”

“The project is called—the Omega Conversion Agent.”

Ji Laili’s heart skipped a beat. Instinctively, he wanted to turn and look at the person beside him, but he stopped himself at the last moment, forcing his gaze back to Aiger.

All traces of his earlier playfulness vanished. The violent and sharp-edged Alpha on the screen had a solemn, unprecedentedly serious expression.

“There are still spies within the Federal Military Academy. None of the instructors can leave the capital planet.”

“We’ve contacted our undercover agents within the Empire, and they’ve confirmed that the serum is being developed on Nagano Star.”

“Ji Laili, I need you to go and destroy this experiment.”

Aiger’s gaze locked onto him, piercing through the blue screen.

A brief silence followed. Then, the Alpha outside the screen smiled, his amber eyes curving with ease.

“Relax, Instructor. Get ready to pop some champagne and celebrate.”

“I will destroy this experiment. No matter what.” His voice was lighthearted, yet carried unwavering determination. “A drug that forcibly alters a person’s gender should never exist in the first place.”

Whether or not Shen Yu was a victim, Ji Laili had already made up his mind—he would bring every single Imperial criminal involved in this project to justice.

The results of one’s first differentiation might not always be ideal.

But at the very least… for the second time, there should be a choice.

That’s why people who impose their will on others just to satisfy their own desires—were the most disgusting of all.

“Just wait for my good news, Instructor.” Ji Laili smiled confidently.

It was the only thing Aiger had heard in a while that actually sounded reassuring. He raised a brow. “Not just you. All of you.”

“Remember—behind you stands the entire Federal Military Academy.”
