Chapter 136: Tattle on You Until You’re Done for!

“Lord Garna.”

The moment Ji Laili spoke, Garna’s cold and menacing gaze landed on him. Ji Laili racked his brain, desperately trying to buy time for Shen Yu.

“Lance really isn’t here?”

Ji Laili frowned. “He couldn’t possibly be the mole you’re talking about, could he? Should I take some men and capture him right now?”

Garna narrowed his eyes. “And where exactly would you capture him? How…” He suddenly sneered. “Are you his accomplice?”

“How is that possible?!” Ji Laili’s eyes widened in disbelief, his brows furrowing as if deeply insulted. “I can’t stand him the most!”

To make it more convincing, he dragged Lauri into the mix. “Lauri, back me up here!”

“Huh?” Lauri, who had been slacking off, pointed at himself in confusion. His mind was completely adrift, but after a beat, he nodded. “Y-Yeah, you two are total arch-enemies.”

They were always bickering, fighting, constantly tangled up in physical scuffles, and always ending up with bruises. It was terrifying.

Lauri sighed and turned to clear things up for Ji Laili. “Lord Garna, there’s no way they’re accomplices. Ji Laili hates him so much!”

“They’re mortal enemies!”

“Sworn rivals!”

“They have the worst relationship ever!”

This was unbearable. Absolutely unbearable!

Even though it wasn’t the right time, Eugene couldn’t tolerate anyone smearing Ji Laili and Shen Yu’s names.

With a speed even Zhai Yifei couldn’t stop, he jumped out and snapped at Lauri. “What do you know?”

“If you don’t understand their relationship, don’t spout nonsense! The way you’re maliciously speculating about them makes you look like a pathetic clown! What do you mean by mortal enemies, sworn rivals, bad blood?”

Eugene seethed. “I won’t allow you to say that!”

Lauri vaguely remembered Eugene and was fuming when Eugene called him out in public.

He immediately tattled. “Lord Garna! He must be a mole!”

If I can’t beat you, I’ll tattle on you until you’re done for!

Garna, well aware of Lauri’s antics, ignored him. He wasn’t sure what he’d missed, but he turned his dangerous gaze to Eugene.

“Then you tell me—what is their relationship?”

Ji Laili rubbed his forehead. Senior Eugene, you really have a way with words.

The thrill of defending them was great, but now they were in deep trouble. Eugene choked on his words. He couldn’t actually reveal their relationship, could he?

He hesitated for a moment but then snapped out of it. Why should he act weak? Would he, Eugene, be afraid of this bastard Garna?

He immediately straightened up, let out a disdainful scoff, and said, “What else could it be?”

“They’re…” His voice wavered for a second, his expression twisting with pain, and he shot a piercing glare at Lauri, who looked utterly bewildered.

“They’re just mortal enemies, sworn rivals, and have a terrible relationship!”

Eugene gritted his teeth. “Isn’t that obvious?!”

Lauri: “Then why did you call me a clown? Didn’t you just say the same thing?”

Eugene: “Hah, how could you and I be the same? I can say it, but you can’t.”

Lauri: “Why the hell not?!”

Eugene: “Because I’m Eugene 37!” He lifted his chin proudly.

Lauri, livid, turned to Garna. “Lord! He’s definitely a mole, we should capture him now!”

Garna was already irritated, and their bickering was making it worse. He snapped, “Shut up, both of you idiots!”

Ji Laili and Zhai Yifei exchanged glances.

“…”

They hadn’t expected Eugene to actually buy them a few minutes.

Garna felt that if he kept talking to these two fools, he’d eventually turn into an idiot himself. He turned to Ji Laili.

“You better not have anything to do with Lance.”

Before Ji Laili could respond, a familiar voice spoke from behind him.

“Looking for me?”

The tension that had been building up finally settled.

The little butterfly had made it back just in time!

Ji Laili turned around and saw Shen Yu, disguised and looking disheveled, his face covered in soot. He stood there with a dark expression, radiating an unmistakable “I’m in a terrible mood, don’t mess with me” energy.

Ji Laili fully relaxed. The little butterfly must have met up with Per-ge.

This was unmistakably Per-ge’s attitude.

“When the fire was being put out, where were you?”

Garna didn’t care what kind of face Lance was making or how foul his mood was. His gaze remained sinister, probing, and full of hostility.

Garna.

Another voice suddenly interrupted. It was the first time Wen Qiushui, who had been silent all this time, had spoken.

“Are you suspecting Lance?”

Wen Qiushui ignored the gazes directed at him and stared straight at Garna. “I know his body better than anyone.”

“He couldn’t have done this.”

Ji Laili clenched his teeth, the corners of his mouth subtly twitching downward. He really wanted to tell Wen Qiushui to be more precise and add the words “data analysis” after “body.”

“You’re vouching for him?”

“I am.” Wen Qiushui pressed his lips together, looking disheveled yet resolute. “It wasn’t him.”

Garna sneered coldly. “Anyone who didn’t know better would think you’ve taken a fancy to this Alpha. Our esteemed Researcher Wen—just a few days into his studies, and already lovestruck?”

His words were utterly revolting. Wen Qiushui’s expression turned frosty. “Don’t use your filthy mind to judge others.”

“The test projects he’s undergone in the lab make it physically impossible for him to do this!”

Several days of continuous blood extractions, followed by the recent electric shock experiments—there was no way Lance could have done this alone.

Even though Lance had indeed been absent earlier, as a fellow Omega, Wen Qiushui instinctively chose to defend him.

Garna opened his mouth to say something but was abruptly cut off.

Lance’s expression darkened even further. He shot Garna a cold glare and struck first. “There’s a mole in the base. You didn’t know?”

The people nearby were dumbfounded. Another mole? Lord Garna had just accused one person of being a mole, and now Lance was throwing out another one. How many moles does our base even have?!

Garna hadn’t expected that response. His eyes narrowed dangerously. “Oh? And who might this mole be?”

Lance replied, “Before heading to the lab, I ran into an Alpha lurking nearby.”

The squad captain immediately protested, “That’s impossible! I patrol the lab area every three minutes. With such a tight inspection schedule, how could anyone sneak around unnoticed?!”

“And yet, this is the result of your ‘tight inspections’?”

Lance lifted his chin and gestured toward the laboratory. The place was completely burned down—the evidence spoke for itself.

The squad captain’s voice faltered. “This… this is…”

“Useless.”

Garna’s tone was merciless as he issued his verdict. “Take him away and lock him up. Wen Qiushui, your next test subject is him.”

“My lord! Lord Garna!” The squad captain panicked and tried to plead for mercy, but before he could get another word out, Lauri, already prepared, clamped a hand over his mouth.

Lauri lifted his gaze and shot Ji Laili a look, signaling him to step in and help.

In an instant, the once high-ranking officer had been reduced to nothing more than an experimental subject. A wave of dread spread through the room.

Shen Yu watched coldly as the man was dragged away. Then, as planned, he shifted the blame onto Lei Po. “The Federation’s mole is within the security force.”

“I assume you’re not stupid enough to miss the fact that their true target was the laboratory.”

“The laboratory?” Garna chuckled mockingly, his lips curling in a chilling smirk. “I think you mean the test subjects.

“The test subjects?”

The crowd was stunned. That’s right. Now that they thought about it, they hadn’t seen the test subjects at all. In their panic to save the researchers, they had completely forgotten about the people trapped in the silver cages.

Forcing themselves to suppress their unease, they rushed to check on the test subjects—only to find the silver cages empty. All that remained were scattered severed limbs.

Garna’s voice dropped to a menacing murmur, filled with a cold, murderous edge.

“The mole took the test subjects.”

“How bold.”

He tugged at the corners of his lips, his gaze sweeping over the people present with a sinister glint.

Garna didn’t believe that Lei Po was the only mole. Ji Laili and the others understood this all too well.

Suddenly, Garna’s demeanor shifted. The fury in his expression vanished as if snuffed out, leaving them on high alert.

Then, low laughter escaped him—cold, sharp, and deeply unsettling.

“The Federation’s military academy never taught him what ‘no return’ means.”

“Looks like I’ll have to teach him myself.”
