Instructor Aiger sneered, finding this Alpha to be a rare, sharp-witted tough one.
Did he gather all these Alphas here for nothing? Of course not—he needed to establish his authority.
Without authority, where would military discipline be?
And to establish authority, Instructor Aiger had to make an example out of the most serious offender, crushing his arrogance and making him understand that rules were not to be broken.
But Ji Laili—this scheming Alpha—was disrupting his plan!
With a single move, “retreating to advance,” he had completely shut down Aiger’s words.
If someone admitted their mistake so quickly, could he still punish them mercilessly?
He would even have to commend his “awareness” and set him up as an example, thus reducing his punishment.
Truly devious.
Instructor Aiger thought that anyone else would have fallen for this trick by now.
The young Alpha with chestnut curls squinted his eyes and smiled, forming a playful crescent shape. Then, he even provocatively added, “Instructor, don’t be mad.”
The sarcastic tone in his voice was impossible to miss.
Instructor Aiger sneered repeatedly. “What’s your name?”
Ji Laili reported his name with a respectful posture. “Sir, Ji Laili.”
“Ji Laili, huh? Good. Very good.” Instructor Aiger repeated “good” three times in a row. “Not bad.”
Ji Laili was even a little embarrassed by the praise. His bright eyes gleamed. “No, I can do even better.”
“You traitor! You’re a disgrace!”
An Alpha kneeling on the ground couldn’t take it anymore and shouted angrily at Ji Laili.
“Shut up! Who let you speak?!”
The patrolling officers ruthlessly shoved the Alpha’s head to the ground, which only further infuriated the group.
The more they were suppressed, the louder they shouted.
“Ji Laili, right?! I’ll remember you! You cowardly little worm! Just wait till we’re out of here, I swear I’ll kill you!”
“Are you even an Alpha? Bowing down like that? You’ve disgraced us all! Fight back, damn it! What the hell are you scared of? Get up and fight!”
“Yeah! Teach these bastards a lesson! Break their noses! They always act so high and mighty—one punch and they’re done for!”
The Alphas roared arrogantly, their anger burning.
Each time the patrol held one down, another sprang up, and even when forced to the ground, they spat defiantly.
“Ji Laili, you lapdog! I’ll slaughter you sooner or later!”
The scene was like a peasant uprising—Alphas overthrowing the instructors—only to find a traitor in their ranks.
And not just any traitor, but one who had gone full lapdog, standing on the enemy’s side, making him even more detestable than the instructors and patrol officers suppressing them!
Ji Laili was speechless. Come on, guys, a wise man adapts to his circumstances.
Look at your situation—whose nose is actually getting broken here?
He tried to reason with them. “This isn’t the same thing. Right now—”
“Of course it’s not the same.”
Instructor Aiger suddenly interrupted, his expression full of mockery. “This kid is way smarter than all of you.”
Ji Laili knew he was smart, but wasn’t pointing it out just increasing the hostility against him?
He hurried to smooth things over. “Wrong is wrong. Just admit it to the instructor first, and then deal with the rest later.”
“Did you hear that?” Aiger sneered. “Truly clever.”
Stop praising me! If he kept this up, they’d really come after him later. Feeling the murderous glares directed his way, Ji Laili had a headache.
There were quite a lot of them—over ten Alphas. If a fight broke out, it’d be a pain to deal with.
“It’s rare to see an Alpha with brains these days. I thought this batch of recruits was just a bunch of muscleheads, blindly proud of their status as Alphas, turning them into idiots.”
“But being too clever can backfire. If you had a less experienced instructor today, you might’ve really gotten away with it!”
Instructor Aiger kept up the sarcasm, but Ji Laili started sensing something was off.
Why did it feel like all of this was aimed at him?
The last sentence confirmed his suspicions, making his eyelid twitch. “Instructor… what do you mean?”
“I mean you almost got away with it!” Aiger snapped.
“Ji Laili, you’re much smarter than these dumb Alphas. You know how to retreat to advance, exploit loopholes, and evade punishment!”
“Do you think this erases the fact that you broke curfew, stayed out all night, and came back drenched in pheromones?! Huh?!”
Instructor Aiger spoke with righteous fury. “This is provocation! Serious provocation!”
“If criminals like you can find loopholes to reduce their sentences and silence their instructors, making them hesitant to act, won’t that just encourage these fools’ arrogance?!”
“What do you have to say for yourself?!”
The patrolling officers, initially confused, suddenly had a revelation. Oh! So that’s what he meant! No wonder he’s the instructor!
The kneeling Alphas, who had failed in their rebellion, went from shock to realization to being deeply moved. So that’s what he meant! We wrongly accused him!
Ji Laili: “…”
Ji Laili’s expression was blank. “So that’s what I meant? Why didn’t I know?!”
“No, Instructor, listen, I wasn’t trying to—we should discuss—I mean explain—I mean…” Ji Laili fumbled his words.
But Aiger wasn’t in the mood to listen anymore. His sharp gaze locked onto Ji Laili, and in a flash, he lunged at him!
Ji Laili had been about to continue explaining that he was actually a model student with zero intention of being a troublemaker. But suddenly, his instincts screamed danger.
This body had been given to him by the system right before his death, and some reflexes had already been ingrained as muscle memory.
Now, it seemed to have fully merged with this world, sharpening his senses significantly.
The moment Aiger attacked, Ji Laili’s mind immediately registered the threat. His body reacted in sync, shifting aside just in time to dodge Aiger’s strike.
“Oh?” Aiger raised an eyebrow, surprised that his attack had missed. Now, he was intrigued.
“Interesting, kid. Let’s go again!”
With that, he sent a swift roundhouse kick flying toward Ji Laili—fast and ruthless.
But Ji Laili dodged again.
Aiger’s attacks were fierce and fast, but Ji Laili moved as if he had cheat codes, evading every single one.
Inside the interrogation room, the two figures moved rapidly, exchanging over six or seven blows—yet Aiger hadn’t landed a single hit.
“Damn… this guy’s got skills…”
The Alphas on the ground, eyes burning with excitement, couldn’t help but mutter in admiration.
Even the patrolling officers were captivated. “Impressive. His speed is almost on par with the instructor’s…”
The rebellious Alphas immediately regained their arrogance.
“Hell yeah! Jealous, aren’t you? Even the instructor can’t touch him!”
“Haha, feeling envious? Instructor’s struggling—can you guys even compare?”
The patrol officers snapped, “Instructor is holding back! If he wanted, that kid would be kneeling next to you!”
“Bullshit! You blind? He just can’t hit him!”
“Say that again, I dare you!”
While Ji Laili and Aiger fought with their fists, the recruits and patrol officers fought with words—furiously cursing each other out.
