Chapter 42: He Really Did Judge Others by Himself

“This has nothing to do with me, right? Using me as a scapegoat like this isn’t fair.”

Ji Laili was bewildered as Eugene stared at him with intense hostility. There were so many Alphas around, so why was he the only one being singled out? Or… maybe Eugene wasn’t actually looking at him?

Thinking this, Ji Laili quietly shifted his position to move out of Eugene’s line of sight.

But the next moment, Eugene’s gaze followed him.

Crap, he really was coming for him.

Ji Laili: “…Senior Eugene, why are you looking at me like that?”

Eugene sneered. “This was your doing, wasn’t it? You lost to me yesterday, so you bought up all the medicine?”

“I didn’t take you for the jealous type, but I guess I was wrong.”

Ji Laili was baffled, his canine teeth grinding slightly in frustration. “First of all, I don’t have that many star coins. Second, if I did, why would I waste them on something like that?”

Who even gets revenge by buying out all the medicine to stop someone’s injuries from healing?

This accusation made Ji Laili feel like a rich kid being framed—when in reality, he was just a broke student. Absolutely ridiculous.

Even the most cheerful guy wouldn’t be able to laugh this off.

Unless… it was actually true—about him being a rich kid.

“Senior Eugene, think about it. If you were in my shoes, would you do something like this?”

It was a completely thankless effort.

However—

Eugene didn’t hesitate. “Of course I would.”

With a snort of disdain, he chuckled behind his mask. His swollen eyes, barely open, held three parts contempt and seven parts mockery.

“You little brat, don’t try to teach me how to act.”

“I would absolutely do something like this. And precisely because I would, that makes you even more suspicious!”

Ji Laili: …He never expected Eugene to actually be judging others based on himself.

“Enough talking!”

A tough-looking guy shoved Ji Laili behind him, his legs trembling from exhaustion as he sneered. “So what if he did it?”

Wait, no! It really wasn’t me!

Ji Laili’s eyes widened. “It wasn’t—”

“If you’ve got the guts, bring it on! Or should I say, bring the pigs on!”

Lei Po raised his eyebrows provocatively. “Senior, do you dare?”

“Hold on.” Zhai Yifei suddenly stepped forward.

Ji Laili immediately looked at him with starry eyes, as if seeing his savior. Bro! You’re the only reliable one in this mess!

Zhai Yifei really was dependable beyond reason. Under Ji Laili’s expectant gaze, he spoke in an orderly manner:

“Fighting without a valid reason will get you thrown into the detention room. Apply for an official match first, wait for approval, and then fight. Also, Laili, bring your healing potions. If you need a stamina booster, I have some here too.”

Stamina boosters were used to restore physical strength, similar to health potions in games, and they came with an equally hefty price tag.

But for a true rich kid like Zhai Yifei, this wasn’t a problem.

He shot Ji Laili a look: “Just take it. Don’t worry about the cost.”

Ji Laili: “……”

Meanwhile, Eugene let out a series of cold chuckles, his gaze darkening. “So it really was you, brat.”

Ji Laili sighed. These white phosphorus Alphas really could blow up over anything.

Realizing that Eugene wouldn’t let this go, Ji Laili nodded. “Alright, then let’s apply—”

“What the hell are you brats doing?”

A deep, rough voice boomed through the air, filled with impatience and irritation.

“Instructor Aiger?”

The Alphas were startled. Their legs trembled as they instinctively tried to flee.

Just as they were about to bolt, they hesitated. Wait a second—why were they running? They hadn’t actually caused any trouble this time. They had just finished extra training!

Immediately, both groups stopped in their tracks, straightened up, and puffed out their chests with pride.

“Instructor, what a coincidence! How did you know we just finished extra training? Were you about to praise us?”

Instructor Aiger let out a dry laugh. “You did great. I’ll treat you all to a meal later.”

The Alphas’ eyes lit up. They hadn’t yet realized the impending doom.

Then, with a cold and merciless voice, Aiger added, “How about a nice, big serving of slaps?”

“……”

Silence.

Aiger frowned impatiently and turned to the side. “Did you come over just to watch these good-for-nothing kids fight?”

Only then did the students notice the patrol squad standing beside Aiger, clearly on their way to check the dorms. Aiger had always been annoyed by such duties.

Every time he was assigned patrol duty, he would grumble to himself, Why the hell don’t I have a friend to swap shifts with?

He just wanted to get it over with.

But midway through, Shen Yu had suddenly stopped, his eyes locking onto something as if he had activated a radar.

Sharp, precise—like a predator identifying its prey. His entire attention had shifted.

Ji Laili watched as Shen Yu withdrew his gaze from him, his attitude indifferent, barely sparing Aiger a glance.

“I just saw one of Instructor Ferro’s Alphas stirring up trouble.”

Ferro’s Alpha?

Aiger’s interest piqued. His sharp gaze swept across the group and landed on Eugene.

“You’re the one causing trouble?”

Eugene stiffened under his stare. “Instructor Aiger.”

Aiger squinted at the mask covering Eugene’s chin, narrowing his eyes as he recalled something. “Oh, it’s you. Didn’t I tell you to clean the instructor’s office?”

At the mention of this, Eugene’s arms ached.

The cleaning robot had broken down, so someone had to take over. Unfortunately, that “someone” had ended up being Eugene.

And it was all Shen Yu’s fault. If not for him, would Eugene have randomly broken a robot?

Feeling wronged, Eugene muttered, “Instructor, I finished cleaning before coming out.”

“And besides, I’m not causing trouble. We were preparing for a match, waiting for approval. That’s not considered trouble, right?”

Zhai Yifei shot Lei Po an annoyed glance.

A miscalculation—now Eugene had slipped away easily.

Shen Yu suddenly spoke, his voice calm. “Did you already submit the application?”

Eugene paused, then frowned. “What do you mean? Are you trying to twist this into my fault? Shen Yu, don’t push your luck—” He stopped mid-sentence and let out a cold laugh.

“Speaking of which, Shen Yu, when you and I fought, did you apply for a match?”

“Captain of the patrol squad, Shen Yu, it seems like you’ve broken the rules too.”

Shen Yu met his gaze coldly, his dark eyes exuding an intimidating chill.

Behind his mask, Eugene’s face twitched in pain. The ache in his injuries flared up again, filling him with fresh humiliation. His voice dripped with sarcasm.

“Instructor Aiger, you’ve seen the wounds on my face, haven’t you?”

“So, how do you plan to handle Shen Yu?”

“You’re not going to cover for him, are you?”

As expected of an Alpha under Ferro’s tutelage—so damn annoying, Aiger thought irritably.

“Why are you asking me? If he broke the rules…” Aiger paused before coldly declaring, “Then we follow the rules.”
