Chapter 47: “Little Butterfly” Belongs to Him

Ji Laili soon realized that Senior Eugene was indeed watching him—more precisely, he was watching both him and Shen Yu.

He had no idea what Eugene was up to.

Was he planning revenge?

Or had he noticed something off about Shen Yu?

The latter was far more dangerous than the former. Ji Laili wasn’t afraid of Eugene seeking revenge; he was only worried that HHH would start taking effect.

He almost forgot—this was a world filled with suggestive undertones!

“The little butterfly won’t get triggered and increase its corruption value, right?”

“What little butterfly?”

A weight suddenly pressed down on his shoulder. Lei Po leaned in close, his Alpha presence pressing in on him. Ji Laili swiftly grabbed Lei Po’s arm, sidestepped, and put three paces between them.

Lei Po was completely baffled by his reaction.

The self-assured “cool guy” looked at Ji Laili in confusion, even tugging at his collar and sniffing, “I don’t have a scent. What are you avoiding?”

Ji Laili hesitated, uncharacteristically showing a rare moment of guilt. “I just got startled, that’s all.”

At this moment, his naturally handsome face worked to his advantage—his smile was bright and sincere.

No one could tell he was actually feeling guilty.

What was he feeling guilty about? Even Ji Laili himself wasn’t entirely sure.

Just then, Zhai Yifei walked over, and Ji Laili enthusiastically waved. “Zhai-ge! Zhai-ge! We’re over here!”

Zhai Yifei’s gaze carried a trace of amusement as he nodded at him with composed elegance. “Laili, you’re quite enthusiastic today. Something good happen?”

“Uh?” Ji Laili scratched his head and forced a laugh. “Zhai-ge, I’m just happy to see you.”

To his surprise, Zhai Yifei gave him a knowing look, half-smiling.

For some reason, Ji Laili suddenly felt even guiltier. “W-What?”

“A few days ago, you weren’t this enthusiastic. I suppose you only just noticed me today?”

…A hundred percent accuracy.

Ji Laili gave an awkward smile, but before he could say anything, Lei Po interjected with dissatisfaction, “He’s not wrong. Now that I think about it, today’s the first time you’ve been moving with us.”

“Before, every time we got to the training grounds, finding you was a pain. So many Alphas, and I had to fish out a little pup from the crowd.”

Ji Laili protested, “Hey, hey, what kind of description is that?”

“It’s hard to find a trainee, but a substitute instructor is much easier to locate,” Zhai Yifei responded in a slow, deliberate manner. “Find Senior Shen, and we’ll find you.”

Lei Po scoffed with his arms crossed. “That’s true. Speaking of which…” His eyes scanned the training grounds.

“No need to look. Instructor Aiger had something to discuss with Senior Shen, so I doubt he’ll be here today,” Zhai Yifei calmly stated, confirming Shen Yu’s absence. He then chuckled, “No wonder Laili greeted me today.”

Lei Po, with his small ponytail, flicked his head and drew out his words dramatically, “So, Shen Yu isn’t here, huh—”

“Eh?”

Ji Laili’s heartbeat suddenly skipped a beat.

Lei Po and Zhai Yifei both caught sight of his rare moment of panic and confusion.

His lively, bold chestnut curls bounced slightly, a single strand sticking up as if mirroring his dazed state.

His fair ears flushed red, the color spreading across his skin.

Like spring vines growing wildly, embarrassment wrapped around his pounding heart and climbed all the way to his cheeks.

Ji Laili’s face turned bright red.

His smile curved into a crescent moon shape, eyes shimmering like stars, but his puppy-like gaze carried a hint of shyness.

He stammered, “N-no, it’s not like that. We were just training.”

“It’s not what you guys are thinking…”

Faced with his obvious nervousness, the two Alphas were utterly shocked.

“What exactly are we thinking?”

“Unless… besides training, did Shen Yu do something else to you?”

Ji Laili: “Huh?”

The little pup was confused.

Zhai Yifei’s expression turned serious. “What did he do to you? Why else would you be blushing like this?”

“I knew it! Only when Shen Yu isn’t around do you have the chance to talk to us. He’s being way too strict with you. He’s just a substitute instructor, after all.”

Ji Laili: “…Zhai-ge, what are you even talking about?”

“And you’re still trying to keep it to yourself?”

The noble and proud Alpha gave him a helpless glance and sighed lightly. “Laili, we’re friends.”

Friends shouldn’t have to endure things alone—Ji Laili understood that better than anyone.

Hearing this, he felt touched.

But… wasn’t something about this conversation off?

“Zhai-ge, I think you misunderstood. Shen Yu didn’t do anything to me, I’m totally fine.”

Suddenly, a large hand pressed against his forehead. Ji Laili instinctively took a step back.

Avoiding physical contact with the Alpha.

“Tch, look at you. You’re acting like a frightened rabbit. Does that look ‘fine’ to you?”

The way Ji Laili avoided him as if he were some kind of monster—Lei Po was not happy.

He used to call him “Po-ge” so warmly. Now, out of nowhere, his little companion had changed.

Lei Po, for the first time, found himself feeling rejected.

He was always the one who looked down on others. No one had ever looked down on him before, let alone someone he considered a close friend.

Frustrated, annoyed, and even a little hurt, Lei Po’s face darkened, exuding a stormy presence that looked truly menacing.

Ji Laili immediately noticed the shift in his mood and quickly explained, “Po-ge, I’m not avoiding you.”

“I just don’t want your pheromones to stick to me, since Shen-xuezhang is currently in a susceptible period.”

“If we’re too close and he catches a whiff, it might be bad.”

“So troublesome.” Lei Po grumbled, though his expression clearly eased.

“But why do you care so much? Are you worried he’ll get mad at you?”

Lei Po pondered for a moment before raising an eyebrow with a teasing smile. “Actually… that’s a valid concern.”

Ji Laili felt like he was being underestimated, but he had to admit—Little Butterfly was indeed incredible.

Beautiful, yet strong.

Top of the academy in academics—wasn’t that the very definition of a cold and untouchable “White Moonlight” academic god?

Shen Yu looked cold and distant, pale and intimidating, but in reality, he was obedient. He remembered everything Ji Laili told him.

No wonder he attracted the attention of some creeps.

If Instructor Aiger ever found out that this was how he viewed Shen Yu, he’d probably pack him up and drag him straight to the infirmary before seriously asking—“Are you blind?”

The Shen Yu you’re talking about—how is he anything like that arrogant, aloof guy who doesn’t even respect the instructors?

What? The name?

Just as Ji Laili was indignantly lamenting Shen Yu’s situation, a companion he had just finished comforting casually remarked, “I thought you were talking about that ‘Little Butterfly.’”

Zhai Yifei’s eyes gleamed with interest. “Little Butterfly? Your beloved little Omega?”

The young Alphas were instantly intrigued. Zhai Yifei’s followers and Lei Po’s underlings all gathered around, eyes alight with curiosity.

“A little O you like? What do they look like?”

“A male O or a female O?”

“Or is it a Beta?” Zhai Yifei mused. “That lady from the infirmary?”

It was well-known that Ji Laili had been frequenting the infirmary for a while, even setting a record for the most visits.

A group of people huddled together, chattering excitedly about Ji Laili’s mysterious “Little O,” repeatedly calling them “Little Butterfly.”

Just like that, the nickname that once belonged solely to him was suddenly taken and tossed around.

The boy with chestnut curls and a bright, sunny smile abruptly went expressionless.

His light-colored pupils carried a trace of displeasure.

Under his thick brows, his usual crescent-shaped, smiling eyes were devoid of warmth. His upturned eye corners, typically playful, now radiated sharp intensity. A silent pressure spread through the air.

The Alphas, who had been joking and teasing just moments before, all shivered involuntarily.

“They’re someone important.”

He stated, “Don’t joke about this.”

For once, his tone was firm.

The Alphas might not have realized it, but in his steady voice, there was a distinct sense of possessiveness.

Ji Laili was simply fuming at the thought—He had no intention of sharing anything about Little Butterfly with anyone.

Because that name belonged to him alone.
