Aren’t you supposed to be a cold and aloof beauty? Why do you secretly kiss me every night? Chapter 7

Chapter 7: Eliminate the Source of Evil—Cut It Off!

Shen Yu pointed at Ji Laili and another Alpha, signaling them to step forward. The crowd looked on in confusion.

They were all exhausted, yet Shen Yu only called out two people.

The Alphas’ competitive spirit flared up—what? Only them? Not me? What’s that supposed to mean? You think I’m not good enough?!

Just as some were about to protest loudly, they saw Alpha No. 253’s face turn deathly pale. His legs trembled, and his entire body shook violently.

Meanwhile, Ji Laili, usually full of boundless energy and optimism, wore an unusual expression.

Sensing danger, the Alphas who had been ready to complain strategically retreated.

“What’s Shen Yu up to? Why do those two look like they’re in serious trouble?”

After a moment of contemplation, someone cursed under their breath, “Shit, maybe he sees Ji Laili as a threat and wants to eliminate him early?”

“Holy crap! That actually makes sense!”

Ji Laili followed Shen Yu, along with the cannon-fodder Alpha from last night, into the training ground’s break room.

As soon as the door closed, the Alpha who had been so arrogant yesterday—eager to humiliate Shen Yu—collapsed to his knees.

Fear was written all over his face. “S-Senior Shen, I didn’t say anything… Please, let me go!”

Shen Yu remained indifferent to his terror. His dark eyes were like a bottomless abyss, unreadable and chilling. The way he looked at the Alpha wasn’t like looking at a person at all.

Ji Laili thought of Shen Yu’s tragic fate in the later stages of his past life. He said nothing, merely watching the Alpha sob uncontrollably, all pride and dignity shattered.

But his silence didn’t save him from getting dragged into the situation.

“What do you think? Should I let him go?”

Ji Laili blinked, looking at Shen Yu in confusion. “That’s your decision to make.”

“My decision, huh?” Shen Yu’s gaze remained fixed on him. “You don’t want to save him?”

His eyes were as cold as a storm-drenched abyss, a decaying rain eroding all life.

“Do you know what happens when beasts and humans mix? Their limbs are rough, heads disproportionately large, faces grotesque—a human body with a wild beast’s savagery. Monsters in human skin, even their blood is different from real humans’.”

“Fascinating, isn’t it? A miracle of the Federation from fifty years ago. Too bad they’re extinct now. Would you like to see one, junior?”

Shen Yu’s voice was pleasant—like a mountain spring, like scattered jade beads, weaving an enchanting tale.

But the content of his words cast an eerie chill over the room, where only the Alpha’s ragged breathing filled the silence.

The meaning behind them was clear: if Ji Laili were to decide, this Alpha would be sent to become one of those monsters.

“No! Please, no… I was wrong! I swear, I was wrong… Shen Yu, you can’t do this to me!”

Panic-stricken, the Alpha screamed, “I’m from the Federation’s military academy! If anything happens to me, you won’t get away with it!”

Shen Yu chuckled softly. “So what?”

A madman. He’s a total madman!

Faced with death, the Alpha’s eyes turned bloodshot. He lunged at Shen Yu with a desperate punch.

But he was no match at all. His attack was riddled with flaws. Shen Yu took him down with a single kick, rendering him powerless.

His icy gaze carried a hint of malice as he turned to Ji Laili. “Now, only you can save him.”

Ji Laili was completely bewildered. Before he could react, the terrified Alpha threw himself at his feet, clutching at him desperately. “Laili! We’re friends, right?”

“You won’t just stand by and watch, will you? I know you were forced by Shen Yu… Yesterday—yesterday’s incident—I won’t blame you! Just save me, please!”

The Alpha’s breakdown was horrifying, his bloodshot eyes making him look deranged.

Shen Yu watched coldly, completely detached, as if Ji Laili’s choice didn’t matter to him. And yet, it also felt like he was giving Ji Laili full control.

But Ji Laili knew—if he actually agreed to save him, it would be over.

He pried the Alpha’s hands off him. Before the man could scream again, he knocked him out with a swift chop to the neck.

Ji Laili didn’t spare the unconscious Alpha a glance. Instead, he turned to Shen Yu, exasperated. “Senior Shen, why do you insist on making me decide?”

“If I said to let him go, would you really agree?”

Shen Yu’s pale face curved into a wicked smile. “Of course not.”

Ji Laili scoffed. “Then don’t ask me. Do whatever you want. We’re working together—I’ll keep my promises.”

“But if it’s pointless questions like this, I’d appreciate it if you asked less.”

Seeing Ji Laili’s clear irritation, Shen Yu’s smile faded. “Are you angry?”

“Isn’t it obvious?” Ji Laili admitted frankly. He looked straight at Shen Yu. “The difference between humans and beasts is that humans know how to restrain their desires.”

“But sometimes, humans are worse than beasts. At least when a beast bares its fangs at you, it genuinely wants to eat you.”

Not just putting on a façade of righteousness while hiding sinister intentions underneath.

Ji Laili shot a disgusted glance at the Alpha on the ground. “I don’t think we should let him go, but I still don’t recommend your approach.”

A trace of mockery flickered across Shen Yu’s pale face. He sneered. “So, your suggestion is still to spare him?”

So righteous-sounding, but in the end, still trying to save this Alpha.

Should he be moved by the unwavering camaraderie of these brainless, lust-driven Alphas?

It only took one test for Ji Laili to expose his true thoughts.

As expected…

He should have never had any expectations.

Shen Yu’s gaze darkened as he stared at Ji Laili’s tousled chestnut curls. Malice brewed in his black eyes, contemplating how to tear him apart.

Then, he heard him say—

“If you do this, you’ll be in danger.”

All of Shen Yu’s dark thoughts froze in place.

Ji Laili spoke righteously, “This would violate Federation law.”

The former officer from his past life seriously recalled the legal codes and advised earnestly:

“According to Federation law, you’d be imprisoned for thirty years. And as a military academy student, your sentence would be even worse—after those thirty years, you’d be exiled to a remote mining colony for ten more years.”

Ji Laili frowned. “That’s terrible. Just for an Alpha like him, you’d waste forty years of your life?”

He solemnly declared, “I have a better plan. Want to hear it?”

For once, Senior Shen, halfway into his descent into madness, looked slightly lost. “…What plan?”

Ji Laili’s eyes gleamed with righteous determination.

“Eliminate the source of evil!”

With great conviction, he pointed at a certain part of the unconscious Alpha’s body and declared—

“Cut it off!!”

The Alpha, just regaining consciousness, heard those words and promptly fainted again.

Shen Yu, witnessing it all: “…”

I sometimes hate this kind of dark MC. I get revenge and I do see well written dark MC, but the way the author wrote this MC just felt hypocrite while trying to be edgy. Like seriously I get you’re prejudice because of your past but at least don’t write your characters as if they’re baiting people to commit crime then act like ‘told you so’. Like seriously I know your character is crazy but what does he expect trying to test human heart? Also, if you are going to show ur MC’s dark aspect, at least put a reasonable counterpart to beat and not just some innocent cannon fodder. I’m not saying that this alpha is totally innocent but like seriously this dude was just some passerby that the original owner dragged along to spread out the blame and ML, in a sense, is trying to bait a reaction out of him. It’s like taunting someone with anger issue then excusing yourself saying it’s self defense.
