Chapter 74: Supporting Him in Beating Up Instructor Aiger First
【You’ve been crouching here sneakily for a long time.】
【Aren’t your legs numb?】
The system’s electronic voice was cold as usual, but somehow, there was an undeniable hint of exasperation in its tone.
Hiding in the corner, Ji Laili looked up with a dejected expression. “Brother System, my legs really are numb now.”
His face was filled with misery, and he didn’t dare to glance toward the bed even once.
What does it feel like to wake up and see a breathtaking beauty right next to you?
Sharing the same pillow, the same blanket.
At such close proximity, he could see the smooth, fair, flawless side profile of the other person, with soft, damp strands of hair resting against the pillow.
And just a few minutes ago, he had even mistaken the other person for a plush, squeezable pillow.
He didn’t know about others, but Ji Laili was so scared that his heart nearly stopped. His pupils contracted, and for a moment, he thought he had violated moral boundaries and done something utterly disgraceful.
Why was the little butterfly here?!
He was about to die of shock.
Only after recognizing the furnishings of the dormitory did he finally realize that this was Shen Yu’s room.
But then, how did they end up sleeping together?
The pure-hearted little pup jumped out of bed in a flash, fleeing as far away from Shen Yu as possible. He wanted to step outside and calm himself down, but then he realized—the door was locked, and without a registered fingerprint, he couldn’t leave.
Damn it!
Ji Laili paced around in distress, and somehow ended up in the most hidden corner of the room.
Squatting as far away from the bed as possible, he pulled up his StarBrain and quickly reviewed the Federal Law.
Finally, his mind calmed down after reading through the countless brutal punishments for sexual offenders.
Thank goodness. The world was still safe.
He couldn’t even imagine what would have happened if he had really done something… Would Shen Yu’s corruption level have exploded all at once?
Ji Laili let out a sigh of relief, only to be hit with another shock.
On the Federation Military Academy’s forum, the trending posts were all—
“Is Ji Laili still alive?”
“Ji Laili’s life story before his tragic end—Summary version, 60 seconds recap.”
“Shen Yu: The man who mercilessly crushes Alphas.”
Ji Laili: “???”
Waking up only to find out you’ve been declared dead… You Alphas are way too dramatic.
He spent some time going through the posts and finally pieced together what happened.
Apparently, last night, he had been too exhausted to move, so Shen Yu had carried him back to his dorm. On the way, they ran into two Alphas.
And because he had been sleeping too deeply, those two guys mistakenly thought that Shen Yu had knocked him out and was taking him back to finish him off.
Ji Laili massaged his temples. Seriously? This was a military academy—who would have the guts to do something like that?
Wait, no… In the previous timeline, Shen Yu had done something like that.
Freshly off Shen Yu’s bed, Ji Laili felt guilty for a second.
But in this lifetime… that shouldn’t happen, right?
Just then—
“What are you looking at?”
Ji Laili jolted, eyes wide with shock. “You—you’re awake, Senior Shen!”
“Mm.”
Shen Yu gave a soft response. His slightly disheveled shirt had two buttons undone, revealing his elegant collarbone. “Why are you squatting over there?”
“Oh…” Ji Laili blinked rapidly, his ears turning red as he covered them. Then, with a straight face, he said, “I was training.”
“…” Shen Yu paused, his expression unreadable. “Training?”
“Hahaha, yeah! Training!”
“Training the endurance and load-bearing capacity of my thigh muscles.”
Ji Laili rattled off nonsense without blinking. “This way, in the future, no matter what heavy objects are placed on my legs, I won’t get numb or weak right away.”
He flashed a bright smile. “Isn’t it fascinating? Lei-ge told me about it. I just found out too!”
“Is that so?” Shen Yu’s lips curled up slightly, his gaze turning deep.
“Of course!”
Still squatting in the corner, Ji Laili tilted his head and blinked, one hand resting behind his head. He chuckled twice, his eyes curving into innocent crescents.
Shen Yu nodded slightly, then glanced at Ji Laili’s legs. “That’s quite interesting. You should test the load-bearing capacity soon.”
Ji Laili readily agreed. “No problem!”
Then, he secretly let out a sigh of relief. Looks like he successfully dodged suspicion.
Wait… there was still one more thing.
Ji Laili hesitantly asked, “About last night…”
Shen Yu responded with a soft hum. “What about it?”
“How did I end up here? I was so exhausted that I barely remember anything… Nothing happened, right?”
Ji Laili sounded a little nervous.
“Is that what you think?” Shen Yu drawled, watching Ji Laili fidget anxiously. Amusement flickered in his gaze, but he decided not to tease him any further.
“Do you think something should have happened?”
Shen Yu’s tone was calm. “You just fell asleep, and there was only one bed here.”
If the little butterfly wasn’t angry, that meant nothing had happened.
Ji Laili let out a deep breath, relief spreading through his features. His smile returned. “Then thank you for taking care of me last night, Senior! I’ll head back now.”
He braced himself against the wall to stand up, his legs still numb. Just then, Shen Yu said—
“Why would you leave? From now on, you’ll be living here.”
Ji Laili froze mid-step.
And then, with a thump, his legs gave out completely.
Sitting on the floor, Ji Laili shouted in shock, “Huh?! What?!”
His brain short-circuited, and his wavy brown hair framed a face filled with absolute disbelief.
His eyes screamed: “What are you even talking about?!”
Shen Yu enjoyed seeing him like this—his full attention locked onto him, his emotions laid bare. And from this angle, it was perfect. One high, one low.
It helped him conceal the possessiveness he could barely suppress toward Ji Laili.
Feigning nonchalance, Shen Yu explained, “Each year, the top-ranking student—the first-place winner—has the privilege of a private dormitory.”
“But this year, due to resource shortages, that privilege has been cut in half.”
Shen Yu continued, completely unfazed, “Instructor Aiger decided that you should room with me. There was no other choice.”
His long, delicate eyelashes quivered slightly, adding to his ethereal beauty.
“He’s quite strict…”
“So he forced you to agree?!”
A clean, refreshing voice rose sharply, cutting into the conversation, with a trace of anger unmistakably woven into its tone.
“That’s way too much!” Ji Laili fumed. “It’s one thing for Instructor Aiger to be stingy, but now he’s even forcing you to accept such a harsh order?”
He felt indignant on Shen Yu’s behalf. Shen Yu was so strong, so outstanding, yet Instructor Aiger had the audacity to treat him like this.
Shouldn’t exceptional people be given better treatment to keep them around?
“This is completely heartless!”
【Something about this doesn’t seem right…】
The system listened to Ji Laili ranting and couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off.
【According to my calculations, Shen Yu wouldn’t normally agree to this arrangement. If forced, his corruption level would rise, and he’d retaliate against Aiger first before killing that Alpha.】
The system precisely analyzed the expected outcome.
Ji Laili clenched his fists. “Brother System, you’re right—but also wrong!”
System: ?
It humbly sought clarification. 【Where am I wrong?】
Ji Laili explained, “Your calculations are based on the assumption that Shen Yu doesn’t consider me a friend. But now, we are friends!”
“Shen Yu doesn’t want to be around Alphas, sure—but I’m his friend!”
“And best buddies don’t count, so he agreed this time!”
“But that still doesn’t change the fact that Instructor Aiger is stingy, petty, and completely heartless. He even scolded my little butterfly—”
His voice dragged out the last part dramatically, making the system momentarily wonder if that was really the most important part of all this.
Of course, it was important!
Ji Laili was furious. “He yelled at him, disregarded Shen Yu’s feelings, and showed him no respect at all.”
“So infuriating.”
Ji Laili declared fiercely, “If my little butterfly does end up going dark, I fully support him in beating up Instructor Aiger first!”
