For the entire afternoon, Ji Laili didn’t see a single trace of Shen Yu.
As time passed, his initial disappointment gradually turned into concern.
A vague sense of unease crept into his heart, lingering until he returned to the dormitory.
The moment he stepped inside, darkness greeted him. Ji Laili paused for a moment—wasn’t the little butterfly here?
He immediately pulled out his Star Brain to send a message.
But before he could, a cold presence suddenly pressed against his back, and a calm voice sounded behind him.
“Who are you trying to message?”
Ji Laili: !!!
Startled, he instinctively exited the contacts page, hiding the words “Blue Little Butterfly.”
With an unmistakable sigh of relief, he turned to face the pitch-dark Shen Yu. “I was going to message you.”
“Why didn’t you turn on the lights?”
Ji Laili frowned slightly, glancing around in confusion before reaching out to flick the light switch on the wall.
Suddenly, his wrist was grabbed—ice-cold fingers wrapped around him. Ji Laili reflexively held Shen Yu’s hand in return.
“Huh? Why are you so cold this time?”
In the darkness, a cool and indifferent voice rang out, carrying an inexplicable sense of danger.
“Laili, who were you trying to message?”
“I told you, it was you.”
【Male Lead’s Corruption Level +100】
Ji Laili froze.
The sudden system notification stunned him for a moment, his bright eyes flashing with surprise beneath his curls.
After a brief pause, he spoke plainly, “Why ask twice? Do you think I’m lying?”
This is slander! Unforgivable! Ji Laili stated seriously, “I really wanted to message you. Absolute truth, guaranteed authenticity.”
Then, a little confused, he countered, “Why would you even think I was messaging someone else?”
He sounded a little aggrieved as he protested, “It was only you!”

?
It suddenly dropped back down?
Ji Laili’s confusion replaced his earlier frustration. Something was definitely off with Shen Yu tonight.
Without making it obvious, he furrowed his brows slightly. Then, while Shen Yu was momentarily distracted, he quickly activated the voice-controlled lights.
Bright light flooded the room.
Ji Laili looked up to examine Shen Yu.
Hmm… still as cold and beautiful as ever.
His dark eyes, which had been quietly staring at Ji Laili, now carried a rare hint of docility.
Before Ji Laili could figure out what was different, Shen Yu’s lips suddenly curved upward, a soft, fleeting smile appearing in his ink-black eyes.
“Did I scare you, Laili?”
“I just wanted to give you a little scare, but… hmm, looks like it worked.”
Ji Laili’s eyes widened in shock, looking up at him like a wronged puppy.
Shen Yu’s gaze greedily lingered on his adorable, startled expression. Before Ji Laili could catch on, he lowered his eyes and said softly,
“Don’t be mad.”
“…!” Ji Laili was not having it.
He huffed, “You didn’t believe me at first.”
Shen Yu paused for half a second, his gaze darkening.
After a brief silence, Ji Laili sighed dramatically, dragging out his words, “Wow… am I really that untrustworthy in your eyes?”
Then, muttering under his breath, “Good thing I acted fast and got Po-ge and Zhai-ge to help.”
Otherwise, if Shen Yu actually thought that—as an Alpha—he had ulterior motives toward him… what then?
Shen Yu didn’t catch what Ji Laili mumbled. He only saw him drooping his head, looking utterly dejected.
“…It’s my fault.”
Shen Xuezhang awkwardly attempted to comfort the unhappy Alpha standing before him.
“It’s not that I didn’t believe you. I just… thought of someone else.”
That name he had heard earlier… and the contact name Ji Laili had saved on his Star Brain.
His gaze lowered, growing chillingly dark.
Little Butterfly…
The little O that Laili likes… is actually him.
Ji Laili blinked. “Thought of someone else?”
Did that mean another Alpha had been bothering Shen Yu today? Was that why he was upset?
Most Alphas wouldn’t even dare approach Shen Yu. The only person who interacted with him often was…
Instructor Aiger.
So, was Instructor Aiger the one who made Shen Yu angry?
Ji Laili: Thinking back to what happened in the dorm just now, yeah… not surprising at all.
He waved it off generously, “Alright, I forgive you.”
On the surface, he brushed past the topic lightly. But in reality, Ji Laili was carefully observing Shen Yu’s reaction.
He was certain that Shen Yu must have overheard his conversation with Po-ge and the others this afternoon.
Shen Yu now knew that he had a little O he liked—
And that he had even reached the stage of actively pursuing them.
That meant Shen Yu should be feeling more at ease.
After all, an Alpha who likes little Os would never do anything inappropriate to him.
If Ji Laili had to say, the best solution would be to stop living together altogether.
If they weren’t in a cohabitation situation, he wouldn’t have to stress over these things.
But—back then, he had agreed.
Because the little butterfly had really wanted to live with him!
He couldn’t say no. So, he had to find another way.
Now that the plan was already in motion, he might as well check its effectiveness.
Ji Laili hesitated for a moment before saying, “Xuezhang, do you remember what I mentioned before? About having a little O that I like?”
He secretly observed Shen Yu’s expression.
Not a single change.
A calm nod. “I remember.”
Shen Yu’s voice was naturally cool. When he spoke softly, his tone was like delicate ice beads rolling across a jade plate.
His dark eyes fixed on Ji Laili.
“I remember everything you say.”
For Ji Laili, those words were fatal.
His ears twitched.
For a second, it felt like a mischievous little butterfly had fluttered right in.
He clapped his hands over his ears.
Too much.
Ji Laili suddenly couldn’t bring himself to mention that completely made-up little O.
His words trailed off awkwardly.
Noticing the prolonged silence, Shen Yu’s eyes filled with curiosity.
Ji Laili, frustrated, muttered under his breath,
“I just wanted to say… Xuezhang, I didn’t see you at all today.”
Shen Yu had already prepared himself for Ji Laili to bring up that little O.
But what he didn’t expect…
Was for this to be what came out of his mouth.
The restlessness and suppressed emotions that had been simmering all day—suddenly, just like that, dissipated.
Shen Yu abruptly asked, “Would you feel disappointed?”
His voice was calm and indifferent, as if it were just a casual question.
Ji Laili thought he should answer no.
Because this was a question that crossed a boundary—one tinged with subtle ambiguity.
It shouldn’t exist between them.
Yet, in the next second, Ji Laili heard his own voice, answering without hesitation, completely candid.
“I was looking for you.”
If I can’t see you, I’ll look for you.
That was his answer.
Shit.
Ji Laili thought gloomily, Mission failed before it even started. Did I just ruin my whole plan?
But how could that be?
The corruption level notification never fails to arrive.
【Ding! Male Lead’s Corruption Level -1000】
“Eh—?!”
Wait, I’m not doomed yet!
Ji Laili’s lips curved up, his eyes sparkling with delight—looks like his plan could still go on smoothly!
…
Later, after completely forgetting his earlier frustration, Ji Laili happily went to find the customized nutrient drinks that Shen Yu had bought two days ago.
With a small smile on his lips, he muttered to himself as he stared at the strawberry and grape flavors, “Which one should I drink today?”
At the same time—
Shen Yu, expressionless, quietly unzipped the backpack placed on the left side of the doorway.
His cold gaze fell on the contents inside—
A syringe designed to render Alphas unconscious, silver restraints,
And a medical record stamped with Ji Laili’s fingerprint.
For a brief moment, the inside of the backpack was exposed to the light.
Then—zip—Shen Yu closed it shut again, placing it quietly back into the corner.
