Chapter 92: There’s No Way He’ll Let the Little Butterfly Escape
“You’re early today, kid. I thought after running off so fast yesterday, you’d be dragging your feet to get here today.”
Inside the treatment room, the Beta doctor looked at Ji Laili, who had just sat down, and teased,
“Did you come straight here after training?”
Ji Laili heard the implication in his tone and lowered his crescent-shaped eyes.
“Hey, hey, Doc, don’t make that kind of pervy expression, alright?”
He protested,
“I’m not here for the reason you’re thinking!”
The Beta doctor’s expression cracked.
Pervy?!
This brat!
The doctor let out a sarcastic laugh and shot him a dark look.
“Quit pretending. You Alphas—half your brain is training, and the other half is little Omegas. You’re not fooling anyone.”
“In a bit, I’ll make you show your true colors!”
Ji Laili: “…”
Wait, what?
That declaration of war—what’s he planning to do?
The Alpha’s infamous short temper really was a problem!
Ji Laili quickly changed tactics, speaking earnestly,
“Bro, I wasn’t trying to provoke you. Your expression wasn’t pervy—I was wrong. I haven’t been sleeping well lately.”
He was even getting mouth ulcers—his lips were still burning today.
The doctor gave him a fake smile,
“No wonder Aiger once told me you were deeply scheming. Today, I finally see it for myself.”
“Regretting saying that now? Too late, kid. You’ll suffer for it soon!”
Ji Laili was dumbfounded.
Instructor Aiger, what the hell have you been saying about me?!
He was seriously unconvinced. In all his years, only two people had ever accused him of being scheming—Aiger, and now this Beta doctor.
The people’s judgment is clear!
His friends never said that, so he refused to accept this slander.
“Doc, don’t just believe rumors blindly.”
“Believe rumors? Hah, if I could control the wind, I’d slap you with it. If it rained, I’d tear up your umbrella. Now hurry up and get ready!”
Under the doctor’s merciless urging, Ji Laili entered the small compartment inside the treatment room and sat in the designated chair.
Right in front of him was a transparent, sealed glass panel, except for a small vented opening positioned at face level, allowing air to flow through.
It reminded him of a hospital registration window, except the opening was a bit too big.
Sitting there, Ji Laili’s expression turned odd.
He didn’t feel like a patient.
He felt like a receptionist handling hospital registrations.
The Beta doctor ignored his weird look and said coolly,
“An Omega will sit across from you soon.”
“Their pheromones will pass through that vent. This isn’t resistance training, so don’t fight it. Facing them directly will make the effect stronger.”
“If you have a reaction, press the green button, and the vent will immediately close.”
“I’ll have the Omega leave. Wait until they’re gone before you start dealing with it.”
With all instructions given, Ji Laili obediently nodded.
The doctor tossed him a spray bottle. Seeing his confused look, he explained,
“I heard your rhinitis is bad—it affects your sense of smell.”
“If it gets uncomfortable, use this.”
“Thanks, Doc.”
The Beta doctor looked disgusted,
“Just a minute ago, you were calling me bro, and now it’s doctor? You sure switch fast.”
Ji Laili instantly understood.
“Thanks, bro!”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. No need to thank me.
This was actually given to me by another Alpha—one you know.”
As he left, the Beta doctor took another look at Ji Laili’s stunned expression, muttering to himself,
“Why do I feel like Shen Yu treats him pretty well?
Did I read the wrong forum?
No way… I used the military academy’s official network. It can’t be wrong…”
As his footsteps faded, Ji Laili was left alone.
He turned over the spray bottle in his hands.
Shaking it lightly, he could tell it was already half-used.
Because he’d used it before.
Which meant…
Shen Yu brought this for him.
Was he worried he couldn’t tolerate other medications?
Ji Laili stared at the bottle, lost in thought.
And then, just like that, he remembered yesterday’s Shen Yu—his figure blurred by mist, yet his voice certain:
“Laili, you have to get better.”
Suddenly, Ji Laili became painfully aware…
Maybe he wasn’t the only one with hesitations.
Could it be?
Could it really be?
It had to be, right?
Ji Laili clenched the spray bottle and grinned.
Warmth filled his brows and eyes.
He tilted his head, covering his face.
“I’m doomed…”
His fingers covered the upper half of his face, but he couldn’t stop smiling.
No matter what he did, the joy kept spilling out.
“Now I have an even crazier idea…”
He murmured, brushing his flushed lips.
If this was real…
Alright then.
Ji Laili couldn’t help it—he wanted to laugh.
His heart felt like fireworks exploding, crackling and popping nonstop.
So happy.
He wanted to go find Shen Yu.
Wanted to see him.
His smile wouldn’t fade—he was completely lost in some blissful emotion.
Back in the control room, the Beta doctor scoffed,
“That happy? I knew you Alphas were all the same.”
The Omega assigned for pheromone guidance had the exact same thought.
This Alpha looked way too excited.
Flustered, the Omega cleared his throat.
“Hello, I’m here to conduct your pheromone guidance therapy.”
Ji Laili, still holding the pheromone spray, grinned brightly.
“Hello! Can we start quickly?”
So impatient.
The Omega glanced at this handsome and oddly adorable Alpha and maintained a composed smile.
“Of course.”
The Omega’s pheromones soon spread into the room through the vent.
A sweet peach scent filled the air.
Ji Laili remained completely clear-headed, absentmindedly rubbing the spray bottle in his hands.
Still, he thought to himself—
“Iris smells better.”
One minute—
The scent saturated the small space.
Two minutes—
His rhinitis flared up.
He held back a sneeze, eyes clear, mind sharp.
His body felt a little warm, but there was no reaction.
The peach scent grew stronger.
Not wanting to waste time, Ji Laili said calmly,
“Alright, can we move on to the next one?”
The Omega’s expression stiffened.
“You really don’t feel anything?”
He already knew the answer—if the Alpha had reacted, he would’ve smelled pheromones in return.
But right now, the room was filled only with peaches.
And the guy sitting across from him…
His eyes were clearer than mine.
Ji Laili finally answered,
“Well… if we’re talking about any reaction, I guess there is a little.”
The Omega’s eyes lit up.
“Really?”
See! There’s no way he had no reaction!
“Of course,” Ji Laili reassured him.
“My nose just feels terrible.”
“So, can we move on to the next one?”
“I have something urgent to do.”
The Omega wanted to question him—
What could possibly be so urgent?
He knew that treatments were always scheduled after training.
But then, he met those clear, crescent-moon eyes—
And suddenly, his words stuck in his throat.
Maybe it was because those eyes were too pure,
So impossibly clear and bright,
Even in an environment designed for seduction.
Somehow, the Omega actually believed him.
Still, he couldn’t help but ask, curiosity getting the best of him,
“What’s so urgent?”
What could be more important than treatment?
Ji Laili’s eyes curved with a smile.
After sitting here for so long,
For the first time, he leaned in slightly—
A hint of mischief flickering between his brows.
His small curls bounced slightly,
Like a proud little pup,
As he whispered mysteriously—
The Omega instinctively held his breath,
Listening intently.
But what he heard was—
“Not telling you.”
…???
The Omega’s eyes widened, utterly shocked.
Meanwhile, Ji Laili burst into laughter—
Not a mocking laugh,
But one that still carried an unspoken dominance.
With complete conviction, he declared,
“Because I like it too much—I have to hide it away.”
The person he loved most…
Had to be treasured, kept close—
Right next to his heart.
There was no way…
He’d ever let his little butterfly fly away.
