Chapter 34
After waking up from a nap, Lu Anning took out a small notebook and started practicing voice.
The doctor said that after treatment, the best case scenario is that she would recover to 50%, but she decided not to compromise.
She has encountered things like time travel and the golden finger, so what else is impossible?
I don’t ask for being as eloquent and witty as I was in my previous life, but at least I should be able to communicate with people normally and slowly.
I practiced for half an hour, and at least half of the time was spent on relaxation.
It was indeed as the doctor said. It was a long and painful process. Just half an hour seemed to her like four or five hours.
After a short break, I decided to practice for another half an hour.
Now she can pronounce some daily words one by one, and her pronunciation is gradually becoming more accurate. She believes that as long as she practices diligently and actively cooperates with the treatment, her wish for recovery may come true.
After finishing pronunciation practice, I read for a while the painting book I bought from the city last time.
When I go to the city for treatment on weekends, I must buy a few more sketchbooks. I haven’t painted for nearly two months, and my hands are itching.
I put the book down and suddenly remembered that I bought a lot of fabric, so I sat in front of the sewing machine and started making clothes.
After a few days of living like this, Lu Anning finally understood why most people of this era are so hardworking and cannot rest at all.
One reason is that I have no money, and the other is that I really have too much free time.
She goes to bed at 8 or 9 o’clock every night and wakes up at 7 or 8 o’clock in the morning. She takes an hour nap at noon, and the rest of the time is completely blank.
Cell phone? Computer? Movie? Entertainment venue?
Don’t even think about it. There is no other way to entertain yourself. Working is the only way to pass the time other than sleeping.
If you do nothing for a long time, you will really develop idleness problems.
She seriously suspected that the original owner would suffer from depression, which was related to her own mentality and the fact that she had been staying at home and only reading books as a pastime.
It is very likely that this disease is caused by suppressing one’s will.
Just imagine, is it normal for a person to have almost no social interaction with people other than family members for more than ten years?
When Sui Jingxing came back from training at six o’clock, Lu Anning was still sitting in front of the sewing machine, sewing clothes seriously.
Watching her skillful and easy movements, for a moment I didn’t understand why she didn’t choose to be a garment worker, but instead challenged the financial job that everyone thought was very difficult.
If she goes to do sewing-related work, she doesn’t need a master to guide her.
Hearing the sound, Lu Anning turned around and looked over.
“You keep busy. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to scare you.”
“Are you hungry? What do you want to eat tonight? I’ll make dinner tonight.”
“Eggs and rice.”
She made the motion of cooking, and Sui Jingxing immediately understood that she wanted to have fried rice with egg in the evening.
“Got it. Give me twenty minutes. It will be done soon.”
The rice is ready and does not need to be cooked.
Break up the cold rice, beat four eggs into it, and mix well. Cut some green vegetables and a small piece of pickled mustard tuber and put them in for seasoning.
After a while, a pot of fragrant egg fried rice came out of the oven.
“Lu Anning, dinner is ready. You can wash your hands now.”
Lu Anning didn’t rush to the kitchen to wash her hands. She cut the thread and tried out her newly made skirt on herself.
It’s not completely finished yet. I have to buy a few buttons and sew them on before it’s completely finished.
Sui Jingxing came out with two bowls of egg fried rice and saw her gesturing with her skirt.
“This color complements your skin tone. It will look great on you.”
The skirt in her hand was light blue, which matched her fair skin very well.
“The collar is lovely, you have great craftsmanship.”
Although he didn’t know how to make clothes, he accompanied his mother to department stores and overseas Chinese stores and found that Lu Anning’s clothing making skills were much better than he had imagined.
Many sisters-in-law in the family compound had their clothes simply cut and sewn together. But the skirt made by Lu Anning had some pleats at the waist, and the collar and sleeves were also cleverly designed, which showed that her skills were at least better than those of ordinary people.
Lu Anning was very happy that the skirt she made was praised by others.
Her happy mood also stimulated her desire to talk.
She pointed at his clothes and said “no”.
“there is nothing?”
She tapped lightly in the air at the corresponding places on his buttons.
“Oh, no buttons, huh?”
“Um.”
“Don’t worry, we will go to the city on Sunday. After we finish the treatment at the Chinese medicine hospital, I will take you to the department store. You can buy whatever you want.”
“You can think about what else you need to buy for your home in the next few days, or if there is anything else you need to buy, we can go shopping slowly on Sunday.”
Sui Jingxing was not such a talkative person before. When he communicated with others, he always liked to be brief and to the point, using the fewest words to express what he wanted to say, with very little nonsense.
But now he is facing Lu Anning, a timid, sensitive and insecure girl, and he must use all his lifelong patience.
“How about we eat first?”
“good.”
She took the skirt back to her room and immediately went to the kitchen to wash her hands.
Because I was in a good mood, my steps became a lot lighter.
The egg fried rice made by Sui Jingxing was also to her taste, especially with a little bit of pickled mustard and shredded green vegetables added in it, making it taste very refreshing.
The light saltiness of the pickled mustard tuber is just right.
A little more is too much, a little less is too little, this is the taste she likes.
Although she didn’t say it directly, Sui Jingxing also noticed from her subtle expression that she was very satisfied with today’s dinner. Seeing her happy little expression, his mood also became happy, and the fatigue brought by a day of training was instantly swept away.
“Lu Anning, after dinner, take a rest and then we can start learning how to ride a bicycle, okay?”
There are only ten days left before she goes to work. Although she can ask Mrs. Fan next door to give her a ride, it is not good to trouble others every day in the long run. Lu Anning herself probably doesn’t want to trouble others all the time.
“good.”
She is looking forward to learning how to ride a bike.
Xinran used to be able to ride, but she can’t.
In her parents’ view, riding a bicycle was dangerous for her. Her parents did not agree to take risks, so naturally no one in the family dared to teach her.
Little did she know how envious she was every time she saw Xinran riding bicycles with other children, riding in the wind and laughing happily.
Now she can learn it, that’s great.
After finishing his meal and washing the dishes, Sui Jingxing pushed his bicycle out.
“Come quickly.”
“You sit on the seat and hold the handle, I’ll push you for a while.”
Lu Anning went out happily, looking at the 28-inch bicycle in front of him, hesitating about how to sit on it.
She remembered that when her father was carrying her, he stepped on the side pedal, slid twice, and then stepped over the front bar.
In her opinion, this operation is not simple either.
After noticing her difficulties, Sui Jingxing was not anxious and explained to her in a gentle tone.
“There are several ways to get on the bus. You can step over from the front or step on the back with your right foot.”
“You don’t know how to ride a bike yet, so there’s no need to try such a difficult move. Let’s start with the simplest one.”
