Chapter 8
The next day.
The doctor examined Lu Anning and confirmed that there was no problem. Then Sui Jingxing completed the discharge procedures for her.
“Be careful, we’ll go slowly, there’s no rush.”
Lu’s mother was extremely worried about her every move, fearing that she might get hurt.
“Don’t be more nervous than the child. Jingxing is here to support you. Nothing will happen.”
Sometimes, Father Lu also feels that his wife is too protective of Lu Anning.
Lu Anning has already said that she wants to grow up. If they are still like before and don’t trust her to do anything on her own, isn’t this the same as before!
The children are married and have grown up, and as parents, it is time to let go.
“I’m not nervous, I just…I just…”
“Relax, Lu Anning is doing well now.”
Father Lu gently stroked his wife’s back, telling her not to be too nervous.
“I’m just worried that Lu Anning and Jing Xing aren’t familiar with each other yet, and she might resist him.”
“How can I resist?”
“From the moment he left the ward, Jingxing was holding him, and Lu Anning never pushed him away.”
“Don’t worry about this or that all the time. They have their own way of getting along. The fact that Lu Anning is willing to let Jing Xing support her proves that she is slowly beginning to accept his existence.”
“We’re not leaving right away. We’ll stay with them for a few days. Can we go home when you feel relieved?”
He suddenly felt that leaving Lu Anning in Yan City was the right choice.
If she were brought back to Beijing, Lu Anning would not be able to grow up with her wife and son as the two biggest obstacles.
They really protected her too much like a child and ignored the fact that she was actually eighteen years old.
The four of them returned to the family compound in a car borrowed from the army.
The house assigned to Sui Jingxing was a suite bungalow. Although it only had two rooms, fortunately the kitchen, bathroom and toilet were all separate, so he didn’t have to share them with the neighbors.
What he wanted most was an independent courtyard, but his current rank as deputy regiment commander was not enough to get one.
You can only choose from newly built tube-shaped buildings and bungalows that have been built for at least ten years.
After much deliberation, he chose the bungalow.
Although the tube building is new and has running water, the kitchen and bathroom are only at the end of the corridor and are shared with residents on the same floor.
He didn’t know much about Lu Anning’s situation at the time, he only knew that she didn’t like to contact others.
Although the flat buildings are also populated by families, there are far fewer people than in the tube-shaped buildings, so she might feel more comfortable there.
Lu Anning got out of the car, looked at the old red brick house in front of him, and fell into deep thought.
The feeling of extracting the original owner’s memory and seeing it with your own eyes is completely different.
For the first twenty-six years of her life, her family was well off, and she and her sister were the type of people who, in the eyes of others, had a head start from birth.
My parents run a company with decent performance, and their assets are worth at least a dozen or twenty small goals.
I have lived in a villa area since I was born. My family has a driver and a nanny. I have no worries about food and clothing, and someone takes care of my life.
Because of her physical condition, her parents have always been willing to help her with whatever she asked for since she was a child and have never worried about money.
The money in the card was often not used up, and her parents and grandparents would transfer new money to her. Later, her twin sister Xinran started working and often found various reasons to send her money.
Comparing her previous life and looking at the house in front of her, she couldn’t help but sigh that the house where the dog of her neighbor in the same community lived was better and more exquisite than this one.
Alas, complaining won’t solve the problem. I’ve already worn it, so I can only accept it.
When reform and opening up begin, she will immediately change her current situation, get rich, and enjoy a happy life without illness.
No, maybe she can return to the modern era.
As long as she could go back, she would definitely go and eat the red oil hotpot that she couldn’t eat before to satisfy her craving!
However, before she went back, she had no choice but to accept it.
Entering the house, the small house was cleaned up by Sui Jingxing. The bed in the outer room had been covered with new sheets and bedding when he came back yesterday.
“Mom and Dad, I may have to ask you to rest outside for the next few days. I’m afraid Lu Anning won’t be used to the sudden change.”
“It’s okay. We can sleep in the outer room. You don’t have to give up the inner room where we are used to sleeping. The outer room is also good.”
The room I was assigned was less than 40 square meters, similar to a one-bedroom apartment in later generations.
In this era, most families have no concept of a living room. After all, the houses are small and there are many people. Many families have to squeeze even to sleep, let alone set aside a room to use as a living room.
If the outer room is not divided into two or three small rooms, the family is considered to have ample housing.
“Lu Anning, are you tired? Do you want to go back to your room and lie down?”
She didn’t want to lie down, but she went back to her room.
In front of Lu’s father and mother, she had to continue pretending that she liked to be alone. She was now Lu Anning who had not changed.
The room where the original owner lived before was obviously decorated deliberately by Sui Jingxing.
The two people’s belongings were intertwined, and his few clothes were placed in the closet, creating the illusion that they had been living together in the same room.
She did not move closer to the bed, but sat down in a chair by the window.
“Why don’t you go back to bed and rest?”
Lu’s mother asked her with concern, fearing that she was feeling unwell again.
She wrote the three words “no shower” on the paper.
From the time she was admitted to the hospital to today’s discharge, she has not taken a bath in five days.
It was June, and even though she was sick and had a chill, she couldn’t stand the hot weather and her whole body was already sticky.
“So that’s how it is. Wait here for a while, and mom will go boil some water for you.”
Mother Lu hurried out of the room, not wanting to waste even a minute.
“Jingxing, where do you get water here?”
“Lu Anning wants to take a bath. I’ll boil some water for her.”
“Mom, don’t be busy. Come into the house and stay with Lu Anning. I’ll go boil some water and call you when it’s done.”
“Alright.”
“You burn a little more, I’ll help Lu Anning wash her hair. She loves cleanliness the most, no wonder she didn’t want to lie down on the bed just now.”
“good.”
The house to their left was occupied by the family of Zhou Dong, Sui Jingxing’s direct superior. The hostess was called Fan Ruyi, the sister-in-law who had come to help Sui Jingxing guard Lu Anning that day.
She heard a noise next door at home, opened the door and saw that Sui’s door was open, so she hurried over.
“Jingxing, has Lu Anning been discharged from the hospital?”
Only Lu’s father was in the outer room. Hearing her question, he helped answer: “Thank you for your concern. Our Lu Anning has returned and is resting in the inner room.”
“I’m glad you’re back.”
“Are you Lu Anning’s father?”
“Yes.”
“Hello uncle, my name is Fan Ruyi, and I live next door to them. My husband is Zhou Dong, and he has a good relationship with Jingxing.”
Before Lu Anning followed the army to Yan City, they had already learned about the neighbors around them.
It was because he knew that Jingxing and Zhou Dong had a good relationship, and that Fan Ruyi was a warm and generous person who was easy to get along with, that he finally decided to be their neighbors.
