Chapter 36
“What’s the matter?” asked Aunt Li.
Widow Chen repeated exactly what Ning Jia had said to her to Li Jinhua: “They said that they charge 20 cents per pound for eggs delivered to your door. If you deliver them to me, they will still charge 20 cents per pound, but they will give you an extra piece of White Rabbit candy for every pound of eggs.”
When Aunt Li heard this, her eyes lit up immediately: “Is this true?”
“How could it be false?”
Aunt Li pondered for a moment and said, “I don’t think it can be fake. I see that Ning Jia and Lin Zhiqing have a good relationship. If you say that she is doing things for Lin Zhiqing, I believe it. Lin Zhiqing’s parents both have good jobs, and her mother is a salesperson. Everything makes sense.”
“Of course. Bring the eggs here and I’ll give you the money in person. You won’t lose out. As for the candy, just go get it from Lin Xiaoxi.” Widow Chen said.
“Okay! Chen Liangyan, you’ve come to the right person. I have saved all the eggs at home, and I can’t bear to eat them. I have saved three pounds of eggs, and I’ll send them to you tomorrow morning!”
“Be sure to avoid people and don’t let anyone know.”
“Don’t worry! I’m not stupid! We just need to understand this matter among ourselves and don’t worry about others.”
“Auntie Li, you are absolutely right.”
Widow Chen had successfully negotiated her first business deal and was in a very good mood. She wanted to share this joy with Ning Jia as soon as possible, so she looked for Ning Jia in the crowd.
As the number of people decreased, Widow Chen did not even see Ning Jia.
Could it be that he has already gone back?
Widow Chen decided not to look for him anymore and wait until they met the next day.
She walked back with her head down, and suddenly she heard a whistle behind her. She turned around and saw Wang Er, the leper, sticking to her like a dog-skin plaster again.
Widow Chen didn’t want to pay any attention to him. She just lowered her head and walked home.
“Don’t walk so fast, wait for me, I’ll keep you company!”
Widow Chen stopped and glared at him angrily: “Can you please have some shame? How dare you act like a scoundrel in the street at night?”
“Why am I being a scoundrel? I just want to go home with you! Look at how dark it is…”
Widow Chen didn’t want to ruin her reputation: “Stay away from me!”
Wang Erlaizi approached her with a playful smile and pulled her sleeve: “I won’t! My dear sister-in-law, let’s go home together. I promise not to take advantage of you.”
“Let me go! What are you doing pulling me? If someone sees me, my reputation will be ruined.”
“No, not loose.”
Ning Jia and An Ye were the last to come out of the village committee meeting room. Ning Jia’s legs made it difficult for him to walk, so he could only move back slowly.
An Ye was worried about her, so he followed her slowly from behind.
Two people happened to see this scene.
“Look at this shameless guy!” Ning Jia was disgusted by him, “Not only is he pestering Li Tao, he also won’t let Sister Chen go.”
“We can’t let him keep pestering Widow Chen.” An Ye whispered, “Our things are all in her house. If Wang Erlaizi messes up the situation, it will be troublesome.”
“Yes.” Ning Jia nodded repeatedly, “We can’t let him get too arrogant, Ye Ye, we have to do something.”
“What should I do?” An Ye pondered, “Let him learn his lesson and stop pestering women.”
Ning Jia’s lips curled up: “I have a good idea.”
“What a coincidence, I also thought of a good idea.” An Ye also laughed.
The two of them huddled together and whispered for a while, then couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
“That’s it!”
Wang Erlaizi was blocked outside the door by Widow Chen. From any perspective, Wang Erlaizi could not be allowed to enter the house at night.
Unless she doesn’t want to live in Laohuaishu Village anymore.
Wang Erlaizi felt very disappointed and staggered back home. The road was dark and it was drizzling, so he couldn’t see clearly.
Suddenly, he heard a series of footsteps behind him.
“Who is it?” he shouted.
Everything went dark before his eyes, and a big sack fell from the sky and covered his head. Then sticks fell down like raindrops.
“It hurts! It hurts! Who is it? Which bastard hit me? He didn’t dare to do it openly, but attacked me from behind!”
As soon as he finished speaking, he was kicked hard on the buttocks.
“Damn it, who the hell is that!”
His answer was a harder stick.
The stick didn’t hit anywhere else, just his buttocks. The sound didn’t seem loud, but it caused dull pain when it hit his body.
For the first time, Wang Erlaizi experienced what it felt like to have his butt burst open!
It hurts so fucking much!
“Stop, stop, stop hitting me… No, I won’t do it anymore, please spare me!” Wang Erlaizi didn’t dare to curse anymore. The harder he cursed, the harder he would be beaten.
He stopped cursing and the beating stopped.
“Who are you? I’m just asking if I’ve offended you in any way. Tell me, and I’ll correct it…”
The other party ignored him completely.
Wang Erlaizi struggled to climb out, but was hit with a stick again and became obedient.
He didn’t dare to move at all. In the darkness, he felt someone was dragging him along the ground with a sack tied to his body with a rope.
“Hey, what are you doing? What are you doing? If you don’t say anything, I’ll call for help.”
Wang Erlaizi was extremely frightened.
He wanted to call for help, but the man stopped.
After groping on the sack for a long time, he finally found the place where his mouth was. He picked up a tile from the ground and cut a hole in the sack. Then he took off his shoes and socks and stuffed them into his mouth.
The sour and rotten smell went straight to the top of my head.
“Ugh!” Wang Erlaizi was so sick of his own socks that he almost suffocated.
He couldn’t shout, and could only hum all the way.
Just when he felt his butt was about to spark from rubbing against the ground, the other party finally seemed to stop.
Then he was punched on the back of the neck, his eyes went dark, and he fainted.
“Oh, so disgusting! This guy stinks!” An Ye pinched his nose in disgust and stripped Wang Erlaizi of all his clothes, “Jia Jia, give me a hand!”
“Okay!” Ning Jiale stepped forward to help. The two of them really put in some effort and threw Wang Erlaizi into the pigpen pit.
“Go, retreat!”
The rain was getting heavier and heavier, and An Ye and Ning Jia were almost soaked like drowned rats.
Ning Jia had a foot injury and walked slowly, so he urged An Ye to go first: “Ye Ye, go first and don’t wait for me! Go home and tell Li Yao to pick me up.”
“I’ll carry you on my back and we’ll be there soon.” It was late at night, and An Ye didn’t dare to leave Ning Jia outside alone.
She has thin arms and legs, and I’m afraid she can’t even hold up a half-grown child.
“What are you afraid of? It’s raining so hard, who would go out for a stroll? Don’t be silly and follow me in the rain. You can just go back and get an umbrella!”
“Okay! Just bear with it for a while, I’ll be back soon!” An Ye agreed, quickened his pace and rushed into the rain.
Ning Jia found shelter under the eaves of a house.
If she walked back in such heavy rain, she would be soaked to death.
The season gradually entered late autumn, the rain was very cold, and when the wind blew, Ning Jia felt that his chest and back were blown through.
Just when she was feeling cold, she saw a tall man walking out of the dim rain. He was holding an umbrella and striding towards her.
“Li Yao?” She thought the figure looked similar, so she called out tentatively.
“It’s me.”
Li Yao took two quick steps and came in front of Ning Jia. Seeing that she was soaked like a drowned rat and hugged her arms tightly due to the cold, he took off his coat without hesitation and put it on her.
“Let’s go home.” After saying that, he handed the umbrella to Ning Jia, then squatted in front of Ning Jia, leaving his broad and strong back to her, “Hold the umbrella, I’ll carry you!”
