Chapter 121: Looking Back Three Steps at a Time
Before leaving, Jiang Han couldn’t help but give the mother and son a lot of instructions, telling them to keep the cows and the two dogs at home well-behaved.
The six puppies had been at the Jiang family for a few days, and after Du Ximei took one, Song Sikai saw she liked it and grabbed another one back the next day.
After that, Qiu Yaru and Xiaoya each wanted one, and now there were only two puppies left, one white and one yellow.
This was a good thing for Jiang Han, who regretted getting dogs, and he was very generous in giving them away. He even asked other people if they wanted to raise dogs or cows, and he would give them away directly.
Jiang Xiaochao was unhappy at that time. He protected his little cow and the remaining two puppies, and he even threatened people angrily, saying that if Jiang Han wanted to give them away, he should just give him away too.
Jiang Han snorted and directly stuffed him into the hands of someone passing by on the street without even looking at him.
The passerby was stunned. Seeing it was Jiang Han, he hurriedly put down the suddenly stuffed Jiang Xiaochao and ran away as fast as he could.
Because of this, Jiang Han laughed at Jiang Xiaochao, saying that he was so unwanted that no one would even take him. This made Jiang Xiaochao depressed for a long time. He went home with a pout and complained to Hu Yao, and when he went out to play, he kept asking people if they wanted to raise him. He even asked strangers. If someone really agreed, he would refuse. He just wanted an answer from others so he could go back and brag to Jiang Han about how popular he was, so he wouldn’t be like what Jiang Han said, that no one wanted him.
This time, Jiang Han was going out on a trip again. Although Jiang Xiaochao was still a little angry with him, he still stuffed some biscuits into his luggage and asked him in a soft voice when he would be back, what delicious and fun things he would bring back for him and Hu Yao, and a series of other questions.
He only knew how to eat, drink, and play all day long. Jiang Han pushed him away and focused on giving instructions to Hu Yao.
“Don’t let any stray cats or dogs bully you again like the last few times when I’m not home, and you cry without making a sound. Beat them up! You know what I mean?”
“Don’t fight with people. If you have any problems, call Song Sikai. Those kids are okay too.”
“Don’t think about who is more important than you and Jiang Fuchao. You see Song Sikai and Jiang Fuchao, if they are not happy, you can hit them and scold them directly! If they dare to fight back, you wait for me to come back and tell me.”
“Go to bed on time. Sleep more. Don’t play with dogs with Jiang Fuchao late at night!”
“If you can’t do something, pay someone to do it. What are you saving that little bit of money for?”
“If your stomach is uncomfortable, go to the clinic right away.”
“If you have anything you want to tell me directly, call this number. If you want…”
They were both used to his routine words before leaving every time, but this time it was a little different. He said a lot more than usual, almost verbose, and most of it was directed at Hu Yao.
Looking at the string of numbers written on her palm, Hu Yao glanced at his focused look as he instructed her, her heartstrings twitched.
“I know. You have to take care of yourself too.” She nodded, looking at him softly, her eyes gentle and clear.
Jiang Han hummed, and after saying so much, it seemed like there was nothing else he wanted to tell her. He stared at her, silent for a moment.
Jiang Xiaochao, who was eating a biscuit, looked at them from the side, feeling something was strange. Just now, they were both ignoring him, but now they were so quiet.
“Dad, are you leaving?” He asked eagerly, and even helped Jiang Han carry his simple luggage out. This time, his father was dragging his feet. In the past, he would leave quickly after giving instructions, as if he couldn’t stand to look at them for too long!
“Go eat your biscuit!” Jiang Han took out the two biscuits that he had put in the luggage and stuffed one into his chattering mouth.
“Give me a kiss.” He turned his head to look at her, demanding it confidently.
He suddenly said this, and Hu Yao didn’t react, she was slightly stunned.
Normally, he would just kiss her whenever he wanted. This time, he was clearly asking her to kiss him actively, and he even gave her time to react.
“Chao Chao is watching.” Hu Yao blushed slightly.
“It doesn’t matter. He’s just a little kid, he doesn’t understand anything. It’s not like he hasn’t seen it before!” Jiang Han didn’t care.
Jiang Xiaochao chewed on the biscuit, looking confused.
Under his urging and suggestive gaze, Hu Yao tiptoed and lightly pressed her lips against his for a few seconds, her cheeks flushed with red.
Jiang Han was satisfied and dissatisfied with her 蜻蜓点水 (蜻蜓点水 – literally “dragonfly touching the water”, meaning a brief and superficial touch) kiss. When she was about to pull away, he hugged her waist, lowered his head and kissed and nibbled on her soft lips, holding her for a long time.
When he actually left, he had already been dawdling for a long time, taking three steps and looking back once. He was walking slowly, constantly looking back at them, but when he saw her just talking to Jiang Fuchao and not looking at him at all, he was a little unhappy. He snorted heavily.
Hu Yao’s eyes were still tinged with a hint of shyness. She couldn’t ignore his frequent glances from a distance. She lowered her head and met Jiang Xiaochao’s innocent and pure eyes, feeling a little embarrassed.
Jiang Han always did things that would corrupt a child in front of him. Just now, she didn’t know what came over her and actually listened to him and kissed him in front of Jiang Xiaochao.
“I want Mommy to kiss me too~!” Jiang Xiaochao looked at her with bright eyes, full of anticipation.
Hu Yao looked at him for a few seconds, chuckled, lowered her head and kissed his little forehead to satisfy him, and gave him the other biscuit that Jiang Han had put in her hand.
The two biscuits that Jiang Xiaochao had stuffed for Jiang Han eventually ended up back in his own hands.
Without Jiang Han at home, the mother and son lived their normal days, just as warm and ordinary as usual.
The two puppies at home were getting more and more used to the environment at the Jiang family. Hu Yao and Jiang Xiaochao took them to swing on the swing, and they would often run to the swing themselves and try to climb up with difficulty.
After raising them for a while, the two puppies became rounder and cuter. But Jiang Xiaochao’s little cow didn’t seem to like them. When they got close to it, it would try to kick them. Jiang Xiaochao kept talking to it softly and gently, asking them to be good friends, but the little cow wouldn’t listen.
Hu Yao couldn’t help but laugh. She moved the two puppies’ beds further away.
Without Jiang Han, Jiang Xiaochao hugged his little pillow and ran downstairs from the second floor to sleep with Hu Yao. He even pretended to be serious and told Hu Yao stories before going to bed, saying that he was telling them to his younger brother and sister. The little look on his face made people’s hearts melt.
Usually, Jiang Han would hug her when they went to bed. She didn’t know when, but she had already gotten used to his broad and warm …
Embrace. That night, her sleep was hazy, and she subconsciously reached out to the side, but found nothing.
She woke up a little, dazed for a moment, and with slow movements, pulled Jiang Xiaochao back from the edge of the bed where he was half-hanging and about to fall but still sleeping soundly. She tucked him in.
The weather had warmed up now, and he started kicking off his clothes and exposing his little belly again. This habit couldn’t be changed, even in the dead of winter he would do it, saying he wanted to freeze himself silly.
Silly boy.
Hu Yao looked at him, her eyes gentle, and half-embraced him as she slowly drifted back to sleep.
Jiang Xiaochao didn’t know Hu Yao had woken up in the middle of the night. He slept soundly. He just wanted to sleep with Hu Yao, but then he remembered his father’s warning, saying he couldn’t sleep next to Hu Yao because his sleeping posture was bad and Hu Yao was pregnant now.
