Chapter 163: I’m Still a Child
“It’s been asleep for a while,” Hu Yao said, raising her hand to stroke her belly as well.
She wasn’t sure if it was because of the medicine she took when she was sick, but the child who had been so lively in her belly was no longer as active.
Before, it would kick her belly with its little feet, sometimes very vigorously.
Hu Yao’s eyes narrowed. Although she had gone for a checkup and the doctor said there was no problem, a faint worry and fear lingered in her heart.
Jiang Han had said that even if this child was a fool like Jiang Xiaochao, he would still raise it, but as a mother, how could she wish for her child to be truly foolish?
It had to be alright!
Jiang Han didn’t know she was worried about the child being affected by the medicine she had taken.
Her belly was round like a watermelon, and whenever the little thing inside didn’t move, he felt like he was just touching a watermelon.
“I’m going to the city tomorrow, you and Jiang Fuchao stay at home and take care of things,” he said softly, stroking her belly.
He had been going out less and less during her late pregnancy. Now, even if she didn’t ask, he would tell her where he was going.
“Oh,” Hu Yao nodded.
“Do you want to eat those beancurd again?” he asked.
He had taken her and Jiang Fuchao to the city before, and they both loved to eat them as snacks.
“Yeah, get me the spicy ones,” she suddenly remembered and wanted them too.
“What time are you coming back tomorrow?” Hu Yao looked up at him.
Asking about food before asking when he’s coming back! Jiang Han glared at her and pushed her head back down. “I’m not coming back!”
Hu Yao didn’t react for a moment, thinking he meant he wouldn’t be back all day tomorrow, and said “oh” again.
“Buy some chestnuts for Chaochao,” she remembered Jiang Xiaochao.
“Where am I going to buy chestnuts in July? Let him go up the mountain and be a wild monkey to find some!” Jiang Han ruffled her hair and snorted.
There really weren’t any chestnuts for sale in July, they wouldn’t be available until September.
Hu Yao pressed down on his hand that was messing up her hair. “You’re pulling my hair, no chestnuts, no buying.”
“Let’s go to sleep.”
It wasn’t early anymore, and they had talked so much before bed that Hu Yao felt sleepy and yawned.
Seeing her sleepy appearance, Jiang Han didn’t say anything more, smoothed her hair, and let her sleep peacefully.
She was so soft and fragrant, he couldn’t help but want to hold her and touch her.
He couldn’t be sure if she had put some kind of spell on him, but he felt all wrong when he was near her!
And now, she was not allowed to sleep! He was going to be suffocated!
Under the moonlight, Jiang Han stared at her delicate and beautiful face for a long time, took a deep breath, and pressed his lips against hers again and again, before finally resigning himself to hugging her and falling asleep.
In the morning, a light drizzle fell, leaving a few drops of rain that splashed into the half-open window, wetting half of the curtain.
The cool breeze from the rain mist blew away the heat in the room, and the fan was still on, making Hu Yao feel a little chilly in her sleep.
She unconsciously hugged Jiang Han’s arm.
The sound of rain outside had already woken Jiang Han, and feeling her little movement, he stretched out his long arm, pulled the thin blanket that she had thrown aside last night, and covered her with it.
This sleep was quite comfortable, Jiang Han looked down at her still sleeping soundly in his arms, and seeing her quiet and obedient appearance, his mood was even better after waking up.
“Dad~!”
Jiang Han: “…”
“Dad~!”
Early in the morning, Jiang Xiaochao was calling out to him again outside.
Every time he called him like this, it wouldn’t be anything good.
Jiang Han pretended not to hear, covering Hu Yao’s ears and continuing to sleep.
“Jiang Han~!” Jiang Xiaochao persisted, leaning against the door and calling softly.
Jiang Han got up with a dark face, opened the door and picked him up.
“Dad, you’re awake!”
Jiang Han threw him aside, glanced at him impatiently, and told him to hurry up and let out whatever fart he had.
“It’s raining, there’s a strong wind! The cow’s home is broken, Dad.” Jiang Xiaochao told him, he woke up early and leaned out of the window in the second-floor room for a while, after coming to his senses, he saw that his little cow’s shed had been blown down by the wind.
Before, when he bought the little cow, Jiang Han hadn’t even thought about letting it into the house, he wanted to tie it outside the door, if not for him pestering him to let the cow back into the yard and asking Jiang Han to build a shed for it, it would be tied up at the door now.
At that time, Jiang Han was busy, and he built the cow shed very casually, just putting some dry grass on top, after several rounds of wind and rain, it finally couldn’t hold up.
“It’s broken, so it’s broken, let it roll outside!” Jiang Han couldn’t even manage people, he didn’t have the time to manage cows.
“No! Dad, help the cow fix its home!” Jiang Xiaochao hugged his leg, half-coaxing and half-requesting.
“Don’t throw the cow away!”
“I want to throw you away too!” Jiang Han pulled him away.
Hu Yao woke up slowly after ten minutes or so.
The rain had stopped, the cool breeze was refreshing, the air was fresh, and the warm sunlight was shining through the clouds.
The father and son didn’t know what they were doing in the yard, they were hammering and banging, then there was no sound for a while.
Hu Yao washed up and tidied up, and she didn’t see them either, the yard was a little messy, she wrinkled her nose, took a few glances, and went to the kitchen to make breakfast.
Jiang Han was already boiling porridge on the stove, she went to get some sour cabbage, and stir-fried a small dish.
It was hot, so it was comfortable to eat something light.
She had just finished frying the vegetables when the father and son came back.
They had gone to cut down trees again.
Jiang Han was carrying a thick tree trunk and walking slowly in front, Jiang Xiaochao was also carrying a tree trunk that was relatively large compared to his small body, and he was puffing and panting.
He was still too young, his strength was limited, and he changed positions several times on the way home carrying the log, finally reaching the doorstep. He pushed his little butt forward, dragging and pulling the log into the house. Jiang Han threw the log on the ground, seeing his clumsy and silly appearance, he didn’t offer to help at all.
“Huff~ Huff~” Jiang Xiaochao was exhausted. Such a large amount of exercise so early in the morning, dragging the log in, he gasped for breath, his little face flushed red, and he couldn’t help but pull at his little shirt to fan himself.
“So tired, Dad! I’m so hungry!” He caught his breath and shouted in a small voice, touching his flat little stomach.
“When are you not hungry? You eat like you’ve been released from prison every day! You do a little bit of work and you’re so weak, look at how your mother spoils you! You have no manliness.” Jiang Han pushed the cow that had somehow come over to him aside.
“Go and see if your mother is awake, go ask her for food.” She should be awake by now.
Jiang Fuchao only knew how to eat all day long, if someone else raised him, his family’s fortune would have been eaten and worn out by him!
“I’m still a child! Mom said that children need to eat a lot to grow tall and strong!” Jiang Xiaochao snorted when he was criticized again for not being manly, then he skipped into the house to find Hu Yao.
Hu Yao had already heard the sounds of their father and son returning, she stood at the door and looked at Jiang Han helplessly, taking Jiang Xiaochao’s hand, she said softly: “Chaochao is hungry? We can have breakfast now.”
