18: Untouchable?
“Yaoyao, let’s eat this!”
On the other side, Hu Yao was completely unaware of the thoughts of the many people. Jiang Han seemed to be very busy these days, he didn’t have time to pay attention to her and Jiang Xiaochao, and he only came back on time for dinner every day.
He didn’t mention the incident of her smashing his cup, which made Hu Yao breathe a sigh of relief.
Jiang Xiaochao held a round watermelon and ran to Hu Yao, his face beaming with a smile.
Jiang Han’s tea plantation started harvesting tea these days. He not only planted it on the mountain, but also rented other people’s land to plant it, totaling nearly a hundred acres.
It’s only because the policies have changed now, otherwise he would have been accused of being a landlord.
With so many tea trees, harvesting tea leaves was a big project. Every year Jiang Han would also ask Liu Jie to invite many villagers to pick tea.
Hu Yao only found out now that Jiang Han had so much land. She actually wanted to help pick tea too.
She stayed at home every day now, besides washing clothes and cooking, she had nothing else to do.
Like before in the Hu family, besides doing these chores, she also had to do farm work.
Hu Yao actually discovered that her hands were much smoother than before. Her hands were beautiful, slender and with distinct bones, but before she worked all day, there were calluses.
Now they were all gone, completely a pair of smooth and delicate hands that had never done any work.
She said she wanted to help pick tea, but Jiang Han didn’t let her go.
Hu Yao felt a strange feeling in her heart. Sometimes, he wasn’t so scary. Compared to the four years ago when she saw him with a murderous aura that couldn’t be concealed, he seemed to have changed now. Although he was still fierce, he was much calmer.
The watermelon in July was very sweet. Jiang Han planted two fields of watermelon, and there were many fruits. Hu Yao didn’t cut them into pieces, she directly cut them in half and gave one half to Jiang Xiaochao and one half to herself, using a spoon to scoop and eat.
“This piece is the best, for Yaoyao!” Jiang Xiaochao held half a watermelon, scooped out the heart and raised it to feed Hu Yao.
Hu Yao curved her almond-shaped eyes and didn’t refuse his kindness, she ate it, and then scooped out her own watermelon heart for him.
The mother and son sat in the yard eating watermelon, the scene was simple and warm.
Jiang Han came back and saw this scene.
She was eating his watermelon, when she saw him, it was like seeing a ghost. She smiled sweetly at Jiang Xiaochao, her face was about to burst into laughter!
It was a little dazzling.
So he went over and unceremoniously took the watermelon she hadn’t finished, scooped up the rest in three or two bites and ate it, throwing the rind back to her.
Hu Yao pursed her lips, her bright smile disappeared, but she didn’t say anything.
Jiang Xiaochao opened his small eyes in protest, and Jiang Han ate his too.
Now the mother and son had the same expression of depression.
Jiang Han was in a good mood, patted Jiang Xiaochao’s tender white face, and strode away.
He came back to get something, and then went out again. It didn’t take long, he just took the time to eat the watermelon from their mother and son.
Hu Yao washed the spoon clean, comforted the depressed Jiang Xiaochao, and cooked with him.
Jiang Han went out at this time, she didn’t know if he would come back for dinner later, but just in case he picked on her, she still cooked his rice.
These days she ate well and slept well, Jiang Han took new medicine for her to apply, she started to recover slowly, and the wound didn’t hurt anymore.
There was also chicken soup simmering in the pot. Hu Yao secretly left a bowl for Lin Zhaodi behind Jiang Han’s back.
The chicken soup was very rich and fragrant, and it wasn’t greasy. Jiang Han, who didn’t like to drink soup, would also drink two extra bowls.
The vegetables Lin Zhaodi planted were really good, every single one was plump and juicy. Hu Yao thought they could be sold at the market.
One day she jokingly mentioned it, and Lin Zhaodi actually had this idea. The next day she carried the vegetables to the market to try it out, and they sold out quickly.
This gave Lin Zhaodi a lot of confidence, and her mind became active.
There were still many watermelons in the field, Jiang Han seemed to have planted them just for himself to eat.
But there were only three of them in the family, they couldn’t finish eating them every day, and the other villagers didn’t dare to pick Jiang Han’s watermelon.
This day Jiang Xiaochao went out to play, and brought back a puppy from someone else’s house. Jiang Han scolded him angrily and told him to return the stolen dog to where it belonged.
His tone was so familiar, as if Jiang Xiaochao wasn’t stealing other people’s dogs for the first time.
It seemed like he was, Hu Yao’s mind flashed several images. She and Jiang Xiaochao were accomplices in stealing other people’s puppies, and brought them home to show off to Jiang Han.
Once she stole someone’s puppy and was bitten by the big dog. It seemed like she cried to Jiang Han with a runny nose and tears, and then Jiang Han pulled her to get a tetanus shot, saying that she might as well get rabies and stay with the dog.
“…” Hu Yao quietly folded clothes, she didn’t participate in Jiang Han scolding Jiang Xiaochao and the dog this time.
“Yaoyao, for you to play with!” Jiang Xiaochao still involved her in Jiang Han’s scolding.
“I don’t want to play, let’s take the puppy back, okay?” Hu Yao said softly to Jiang Xiaochao, under Jiang Han’s seemingly smiling gaze.
“…Okay.” Jiang Xiaochao mainly stole the dog to play with her, and when he heard her say she didn’t want to play and wanted to return it, he didn’t object.
He liked it most when Hu Yao spoke to him so gently.
But his dad seemed a little unhappy, his face became even more stinky for no reason.
Jiang Xiaochao glanced at him, raised the puppy and a bowl of water and asked him flat: “Dad, do you want to play?”
“Get lost!”
…
Jiang Xiaochao went to return the dog, and Hu Yao went with him. Hu Yao thought that she and Jiang Xiaochao used to catch that family’s dog and steal it, so she was also embarrassed, so she brought two watermelons with her.
Jiang Han seemed to have tacitly approved of her arrangement of those watermelons.
Many of the watermelons were ripe, sweet and juicy. Hu Yao started by tentatively giving away two, seeing that Jiang Han didn’t say anything, she gave away a few more to the villagers who helped pick tea.
Because of these watermelons, everyone found out that she had changed, and their tone and attitude when talking to her became much more friendly. Unconsciously, it seemed–>>
It also gave Jiang Han a good reputation.
One day, someone even told Jiang Xiaochao that Jiang Han was a good person.
Jiang Xiaochao immediately refuted him seriously.
“My dad is not a good person!”
Jiang Han happened to hear this and gave him another beating.
“I told you my dad is not a good person!” Jiang Xiaochao was even more confident.
Hu Yao couldn’t help but chuckle.
“So funny?” Jiang Han looked at her dangerously, a smirk playing on his lips: “You agree.”
“I wasn’t laughing.” Hu Yao shook her head in denial.
Jiang Han snorted, staring at her for a while, a smile with unclear meaning curved his lips: “Bring your pillow back tonight, I’ll let you know what’s not a good person.”
Her eyes widened instantly, filled with panic and obvious reluctance.
Seeing this, Jiang Han was annoyed again, his face darkened.
“Reluctant? Untouchable? Are you coming to me or going back to Hu Guifen to let her sell you again?” He suddenly felt a surge of irritability, his voice sinking as he threatened her brutally.
Hu Yao froze, her palms clenched, her eyes involuntarily reddening.
