Chapter 44: Does He Even Care If She Cries?
“You’ll have to wait another ten years to bathe with a woman!” Jiang Han pressed his head down, pouring water on him, scoop by scoop, without any gentleness.
“Can’t I now? I have to grow up before I can bathe with Mom?” Jiang Xiaochao clearly didn’t understand his meaning.
“Jiang Fuchao, you’re a freak! You’re so young, and you’re already thinking about these things! I’ll slap you silly!”
…
Hu Yao was folding clothes on a chair outside the room, listening to their father-son duo’s strange conversation, silent and quiet.
Jiang Xiaochao was still a little over three years old, and he was happy to sleep with his parents.
That night, he didn’t know what he dreamed about, but he mumbled in his sleep. Hu Yao slept soundly and didn’t notice, but Jiang Han was woken up by him. He saw that the boy was grinning in his sleep and moving around, about to fall off the bed. He pulled him back by the foot with a slight disgust.
Jiang Fuchao’s sleeping position and posture were like a dog! It was right that he didn’t sleep with him!
The next day, the family of three woke up together. They had a simple breakfast, and Jiang Han went out to take care of his business. Hu Yao took Jiang Xiaochao to the wine shop.
Grandma Liu talked about the past with great enthusiasm. In a few days, Hu Yao knew all about Jiang Han’s embarrassing childhood.
Jiang Han didn’t say anything about her going to the wine shop, but when he found out that Grandma Liu had told her so much about his past, he was inexplicably annoyed. He chased Hu Yao home and told Grandma Liu not to gossip about him in front of her, ruining his reputation.
But when did he ever have a good reputation?
“What gossip? I told Xiaoyao all about your good deeds! You, child, you’re like this outside, but you’re still so bad-tempered with your own wife. You need to cherish the wife you brought home!” Grandma Liu saw his dark and gloomy face and tone when he chased Hu Yao away, and she didn’t think much of it.
“You can’t do those crazy things anymore. You’re not alone now, you have a wife and a child, you have to think about them.” Grandma Liu spoke frankly and couldn’t help but say a few more words.
“Xiaoyao is a good girl, and you have a long life ahead of you. She’s your wife, you always have a black face towards her, be careful she runs away!” Grandma Liu said deliberately.
“She wouldn’t dare, where could she run?” Jiang Han didn’t believe it.
Let alone actually running away, if she dared to have that thought, he would break her legs!
“You never know!” Grandma Liu saw his frown of displeasure and was even more sure that he cared about Hu Yao in his heart. She smiled in her eyes, “Xiaoyao’s looks and personality are so good, you have to think carefully. If something happens to you, there are plenty of good young men willing to marry her! The girls you’ve been with before are different from Xiaoyao. Women like men who are considerate to them.”
She said all this, and she didn’t know which sentence hit him, his face turned even darker.
He wasn’t much better when he got home.
Hu Yao had cooked and was setting the table when he walked straight up to her and stood in front of her, staring at her.
The atmosphere suddenly became strange and silent.
He looked her up and down, the displeasure in his eyes becoming more and more obvious.
“What are you doing running around outside all day? You’re not a little girl anymore, you’re still showing off! You don’t even get some sun, you’re as white as if you’ve been dead for two days! You’re still showing off your hands to others!”
His words of accusation and admonition fell, Hu Yao felt inexplicable and somewhat wronged. What was he going crazy about? She had always been like this, how was she showing off? She was only at the wine shop besides home, he always said she was running around everywhere, where was that the case!
The discontent and resentment in her eyes were obvious. Jiang Han’s inner agitation didn’t subside, he pinched her chin and said in a deep voice, deliberately threatening, “Don’t let me catch you talking and laughing with any wild men, I’ll peel your skin off!”
“I’m not the only woman you have, if I find out you’re doing something, you won’t even have a place to cry!” He deliberately said this, wanting her to have some sense of crisis.
He didn’t know where the other women were, but Jiang Han felt that if Hu Yao knew that he had only had her for all these years, she would definitely be even more arrogant, thinking that he couldn’t live without her!
This was clearly a slander against her! He had a bad face towards her at the wine shop, and as soon as he got home, he warned her with so many harsh words. Hu Yao’s anger and resentment surged, and the unclear and sour taste was even more intense.
He could go find other women if he wanted, she wasn’t stopping him! What did he mean by saying these baseless words?
Hu Yao pursed her lips and pulled his hand away without saying a word.
“You know what I mean!” Jiang Han saw her dare to dodge, he pinched her chin back and growled.
Her eyes were filled with red, and she looked at him with a quiet, watery gaze.
Jiang Han met her eyes, his heart inexplicably agitated and flustered, he was silent for a moment.
“You cry at the drop of a hat? What’s wrong with you!” He reached out to wipe the corner of her eye, his voice sank, “I’ve said so many times, when have you ever really listened! What’s there to cry about!”
“….I just raised my voice a little.” This had a bit of a coaxing tone.
After saying that, he felt something was wrong, he had forgotten the initial purpose of what he was trying to do!
“I didn’t talk and laugh with other men.” Hu Yao’s voice was slightly dim, her eyes still red at the corners, she looked up at him, “Can you stop saying things about me because of nothing.”
Her soft voice was tinged with a hint of grievance, Jiang Han paused, looked at her face, his heart softened a little, he swallowed the words he wanted to say.
It seemed like he was being a bit too much? He was either yelling at her or being harsh with her, she had never gotten angry with him, and today’s scolding was also because of his suspicion and a sudden fit of jealousy. She was quite wronged?
Jiang Han frowned, not realizing that he was now subconsciously self-examining himself in front of Hu Yao.
He softened his tone and awkwardly wiped her eyes again, “I know you didn’t, I’m just telling you in advance!”
Hu Yao’s eyelids drooped, the expression in her eyes was unclear, she slowly and thoughtfully said.
“I know you have more than just me, I won’t cause you any trouble.”
She had known this for a long time, now he had even said it himself, their beginning was a transaction after all.
… She was no different from his other women, except that she had Jiang Xiaochao. He didn’t need to say it, she understood.
Jiang Han choked. This unusually sensible statement should have satisfied most men, but why wasn’t he satisfied? His mood wasn’t much better!
She should just stay stupid. When she was stupid, she was just annoying. Now she was not only annoying, but also scratching at his heart!
He pulled a face, about to say something to her, but when he saw the faint tear stains at the corners of her eyes, he pursed his lips and stopped.
Great, he had problems now. He even cared for her and worried if she was crying!
No, crying wouldn’t kill anyone. Why was he so nervous?
“Keep crying!” He pinched her cheek, his tone inexplicably strange.
“…”
