Chapter 55: Did I Give You Gold?
The yard was spacious. Hu Yao had already divided up the space to plant some vegetables, but she hadn’t gotten around to doing it yet.
In the afternoon, they, father and son, made swings. She planted the vegetable seeds she had gotten from Lin Zhaodi.
Jiang Han made two swings, one big and one small. The small one was undoubtedly for Jiang Xiaochao, and the big one was for Hu Yao.
Some memories flashed through her mind, of her nagging him to make a swing, crying if he didn’t, and Jiang Han not caring if she cried, yelling at her to go cry next door at the Li family when she got too annoying.
She ran away crying, but she didn’t go to the Li family, she went to find Hu Guifen.
He caught her and brought her back, of course, with a black face.
In those four years, he hadn’t given her a good look!
But… no matter how much she made a fuss, he didn’t throw her away.
Her thoughts returned, Hu Yao glanced at him chopping the remaining wood into firewood, and an inexplicable feeling arose.
He didn’t make her a swing before, but now he did.
“Mom, come here, I’ll push you on the swing!” Jiang Xiaochao’s excited little voice rang out, beckoning her.
The smile on his face was bright and dazzling, his eyes pure and innocent. Hu Yao smiled slightly, she wasn’t a child anymore, only children played on swings.
Hu Yao wasn’t comfortable going over, but under his cheerful little voice, she still went.
The swing was sturdy, swaying in the air against the breeze, his childish, milky voice talking to her beside her ear, Hu Yao’s eyes were filled with laughter, curving into a crescent shape.
“Thank you, Jiang Han.” She didn’t forget to thank the one who made the swing.
Jiang Han glanced at her smiling eyes, heard her soft, smiling voice, turned his head away after a few seconds, ignoring her and continuing to chop wood, but his face softened a lot.
Jiang Xiaochao was pushing the swing with all his might, seeing Hu Yao laugh, his little face turned red with happiness.
Hu Yao didn’t want him to get tired, she only sat for a short while before getting off, and she went to push him instead.
The house had two new swings, and Jiang Xiaochao’s friends often came over to play.
There was also a TV in the house now, and Hu Yao turned it on for Jiang Xiaochao, and they were also happy and excited to run over and watch together.
Because they had TV to watch, several children were not afraid of Jiang Han anymore, even Xiaoya.
Speaking of Xiaoya, Hu Yao noticed that Lin Zhaodi had been particularly nice to Xiaoya recently, so nice it was too obvious.
Not long ago, she learned that the new clothes Xiaoya had shown her before were made by her, and the “aunt” she mentioned was also her.
She felt a little strange, but didn’t ask much, after all, Lin Zhaodi always liked children, and she was very nice to Jiang Xiaochao.
Hu Yao thought about this and didn’t think much of it.
But at the end of the month, Lin Zhaodi “ran away”.
She didn’t “run away” far, she “ran away” to Xiaoya’s house, to be with Xiaoya’s father.
Li Pozi was now half-dead, Li Zhuangzhi was increasingly depressed and almost completely disabled.
After this happened, the mother and son almost couldn’t catch their breath. Li Pozi was so angry that she had a stroke, Li Zhuangzhi was completely irrational, and his vicious curses of Lin Zhaodi and Xiaoya’s father as adulterers never stopped.
The matter quickly spread, and the villagers were shocked and sighed, talking a lot of gossip in public and in private.
Lin Zhaodi’s behavior was too outrageous in their eyes. Previously, she had made her own mother-in-law and husband like that, and now she dared to go to a wild man’s house openly, all these actions were shameless and vile in their eyes, and everyone sympathized with Li Pozi and Li Zhuangzhi.
Although the Li family mother and son were at odds with their clan, they wouldn’t pretend they didn’t see this. Lin Zhaodi’s actions were stepping on their faces.
So on the third day after Lin Zhaodi went to Xiaoya’s house, the Li clan went in a large group to reason with Li Zhuangzhi and teach him a lesson.
The commotion was big, Hu Yao was also surprised by Lin Zhaodi’s silent actions, but she had a good relationship with her, unlike other villagers who thought badly of her, she was more worried that she might get into trouble.
For a long time, people’s views on women who were unchaste and had affairs while their husbands were still alive were particularly bad. When these things happened, women’s fates were rarely good, and their lives might even be lost.
Hu Yao anxiously and hesitantly went to find Jiang Han, wanting him to help.
“What are you meddling in for?” Jiang Han didn’t want to get involved, Lin Zhaodi was none of his business, he had already given her face before with Li Zhuangzhi.
He didn’t have a good relationship with Lin Zhaodi, but Hu Yao did!
Seeing that he didn’t want to care at all, Hu Yao was even more anxious, grabbing his arm and shaking it gently.
“Sister Zhaodi, she, she’s been so good to me and Chaochao!”
“I paid her.”
“She’s been helping me and Chaochao when you’re not around.”
“I paid her.”
“She helped me when I was bullied, please help her, Jiang Han.” Hu Yao thought of everything Lin Zhaodi had done for her in the past, how could she not be moved.
“You stupid woman, I’m the one who helped you when you were bullied! Get your facts straight!” Jiang Han didn’t want to scold her, but he couldn’t help it: “Can Lin Zhaodi be good to you for no reason? Did you have gold plated on you? I’m the one who gave you gold plated!”
“Don’t worry about her business with Li Zhuangzhi, their husband and wife’s love affairs are none of your business, do you have eight hands?” Jiang Han was not happy to see her so concerned about Lin Zhaodi.
“But she…” Hu Yao wanted to say something else.
Jiang Han was already impatient, he pinched her face: “Do you know that Lin Zhaodi has been having an affair with that little brat’s father for a long time? Li Zhuangzhi found out and that’s why he treated her like that, Li Zhuangzhi’s legs are not only broken, but his head is also green, now you want me to step on him again? Hu Yao, you have a poisonous heart.”
Hu Yao was stunned, speechless and didn’t know what to say.
After Jiang Han finished speaking, he suddenly thought of something, his eyes became dangerous: “Don’t learn from Lin Zhaodi, dare to put a green hat on me, I’ll slap you flat!”
“You won’t even know how you died!” He added with a serious expression, his face grim.
“…”
Hu Yao pursed her lips, not saying anything.
He refused to help, but Hu Yao was still worried and went to check on Xiaoya.
There were quite a few people gathered around Xiaoya’s house. Lin Zhaodi had already been beaten up, her hair was disheveled, and her face was swollen. Xiaoya’s father was also beaten black and blue. Xiaoya was crying uncontrollably out of fear.
The child’s tender and frightened cries were mixed with the noise.
The crime of adultery was something no one could tolerate.
Lin Zhaodi, with red eyes, shouted that she had already divorced Li Zhuangzhi and even gave him a sum of money, which he had accepted. The divorce was settled.
However, Li Zhuangzhi, supported by others, completely denied it. He glared with bloodshot eyes, cursing at the adulterer and the adulteress, spewing out vile and vulgar words.
“You slut! You couldn’t wait to run to this wild man! I was blind to marry a woman like you!”
