Chapter 62: Others Don’t Concern Me

Jiang Xiaochao had never been one to hold back. His thick-skinned nature was inherited from his father, Jiang Han, and he never felt ashamed of anything he did. He was also very young and didn’t quite understand the concept of shame yet.

“I’m not a little girl, Dad!” He didn’t like it when people called him a girl, just like Jiang Han would often say he wasn’t a man.

“I know you’re not,” Jiang Han replied in a perfunctory tone, reaching out to pick up some meat for Hu Yao, who was only focused on eating vegetables.

“But they don’t know!” Jiang Xiaochao pouted, his small hand clutching his pants, stubbornly wanting to show everyone.

Jiang Han stuffed a piece of meat into his chattering mouth: “Don’t talk, just eat!”

If they weren’t in public, he would have scolded him again. This fool was determined to prove to others that he wasn’t a little girl by showing them his little thing! At this rate, he might as well go out naked!

The thought of people talking about his son, Jiang Han’s son, as a little rascal who would drop his pants for anyone, made him feel ashamed! Extremely ashamed!

The others weren’t Jiang Han, and they didn’t know what Jiang Xiaochao was planning. They only saw Jiang Han sit down and immediately pick up food for his wife and son, acting naturally.

The women watching couldn’t help but feel a pang of envy. Such attentiveness was something their own husbands had never shown them!

Sometimes, women don’t need expensive and flashy things to be moved. They just need simple, subtle gestures.

Jiang Han, with his imposing physique and gruff personality, had a reputation that was far from clean.

But this man was so attentive to his wife and child! It seemed that the rumors about him weren’t entirely true.

The women, moved by Jiang Han’s actions, felt envious of Hu Yao and even more dissatisfied with their own husbands. The men, however, hadn’t noticed anything amiss and were teasing Jiang Han with jokes.

Almost all the men at the table had interacted with Jiang Han, but few had met Hu Yao, and they didn’t know much about her past.

Hu Yao was beautiful, and with her simple attire today, she looked even more radiant. They joked and complimented her, saying that it was no wonder Jiang Han hadn’t been willing to take her out before.

Their words were laced with praise for Hu Yao.

Jiang Han turned his head slightly and glanced at her.

She rarely received such compliments and was embarrassed, her beautiful face flushed with a blush that made her even more dazzling.

Jiang Han narrowed his eyes, his displeasure rising again. He decided it was better to keep her at home!

Hu Yao felt his gaze and met his eyes for a moment. She had a gut feeling that he was unhappy again. Confused, she pursed her lips and continued to eat.

The wedding banquet ended, and Jiang Han, after exchanging brief greetings with the guests, took his wife and son home.

Jiang Xiaochao held a small bag of red eggs in his arms. He loved eggs and was beaming with happiness, talking in a childish voice to Hu Yao about how he would share one with his little cow when they got home.

He thought about his little cow whenever he got something new.

Hu Yao couldn’t help but smile.

“Only your cow is so precious!” Jiang Han couldn’t stand hearing him mention his cow.

“Yes!” Jiang Xiaochao didn’t deny it and nodded seriously.

The family of three waited leisurely for the bus, exchanging small talk.

Jiang Han had had a few drinks during the banquet. He had a good tolerance for alcohol, and these few drinks weren’t enough to get him drunk. But he walked with his arm around Hu Yao, putting some weight on her.

In those days, even married couples wouldn’t be so “touchy-feely” in public. During this short wait for the bus, many eyes were drawn to them.

Jiang Han didn’t look like a respectable person, and he never cared about what others thought. He was holding Hu Yao, claiming it was for support, but it looked more like the petite woman was being forced to lean against him, like a captured maiden.

If it weren’t for the presence of Jiang Xiaochao, who was softly calling out “Dad” and “Mom,” confirming their relationship as husband and wife.

Most people were afraid of the strong and bullied the weak. Even if there were good people who couldn’t stand seeing them act so intimately, they would instinctively avoid causing trouble upon seeing Jiang Han’s tall and robust physique.

Hu Yao, who had never been so close to a man in public, felt her face flush with embarrassment under the scrutiny of all those eyes.

“Jiang Han, can you stand straight?” she asked him.

“No,” he replied clearly, showing no sign of intoxication. He didn’t even bother to pretend.

The breeze swept past, lifting one side of her skirt, revealing almost her entire slender leg, with its smooth, white skin.

Jiang Han frowned, bent down, and smoothed down the lifted skirt: “Your legs are exposed! What are you wearing?”

He was very possessive of her. She was his, and her body was only for him to see. Sometimes, when he saw her smile at others, he even wanted to cover her face!

“They wear skirts too,” she pointed out, gesturing for him to look at the other girls on the street, many of whom were also wearing skirts.

She was wearing a long skirt, the hem almost reaching her ankles. Many of the dresses now were even shorter, and the girls still wore them.

Jiang Han didn’t even bother to look.

“It doesn’t concern me. Are they my women? If I’m not around, you dare to wear this again, I’ll beat you flat!” he said in a domineering and threatening tone.

Women loved to look good, and he always disliked her dressing up, even a little bit. Hu Yao was a bit frustrated.

She couldn’t help but wonder if he was just as demanding of his other women, being domineering and controlling, forbidding this and that.

A strange sense of discomfort arose in her heart, and she turned her head away, refusing to speak.

“What’s the meaning of this? You’re giving me the silent treatment? Are you not happy? Are you rebelling?” Jiang Han didn’t know what she had been thinking in those few moments, but seeing her clearly giving him the cold shoulder, he wasn’t happy. This woman just had to dress up and attract attention!

“I like this skirt!” Hu Yao mumbled.

“You like it, but you can’t wear it!” Jiang Han was unreasonable.

Jiang Xiaochao looked from one to the other a with a curious expression, saw that Hu Yao was unhappy and went to scold Jiang Han: “Daddy, why don’t you let Mommy wear clothes?”

The meaning of his words seemed to change in his small mouth. As soon as he finished shouting with his clear little voice, several pairs of gossipy, curious eyes looked over.

“Do you like Mommy not wearing clothes? Then if I don’t wear pants, you’ll beat me…”

“…”

Fortunately, their car arrived. Hu Yao silently pulled his small hand and got into the car.

Jiang Han clicked his tongue and followed leisurely behind.

On the way, Jiang Xiaochao kept talking. To prevent him from saying anything else that could be misunderstood, Hu Yao peeled a red egg for him to eat.

“Daddy, I…” Jiang Xiaochao spoke incoherently.

“Jiang Fuchao, can’t you even close your mouth when you’re eating?” Jiang Han found him annoying.
