Chapter 82: Reporting
During the New Year, Jiang Han temporarily put down his work and spent a few leisurely days at home, occasionally drinking and playing cards with Song Sikai and the others.
Song Sikai lost from the first day of the New Year to the third day.
Du Ximei couldn’t bear to watch anymore and said in a sweet voice that he had lost all her sheep, so he should get up and let her play to bring him some luck.
Since marrying her, Song Sikai had been completely obedient to her. He didn’t say a word and got up to give her his seat, without even thinking about how she could play cards.
Actually, Song Sikai didn’t know Du Ximei very well, but he just liked her. Even though some of her actions now were a bit different from his initial perception of her, and it was obvious, he didn’t care. He still liked her and was happy to indulge her.
As soon as Du Ximei took over, she went on a rampage. The one who lost became Tang Haofei. Song Sikai was very admiring and praised Du Ximei enthusiastically.
“I’m just lucky.” Du Ximei was very humble. She raised her eyes and glanced lightly at Tang Haofei, who was about to lose everything, and smiled at Song Sikai.
“No way! Wife, you’re much better than me!”
“…”
Winning his money and still being clingy, one after another! Tang Haofei couldn’t stand it anymore. He yelled at Song Sikai to sit back down, saying what was the point of letting a woman win his money, he wouldn’t play cards with women.
His words carried a hint of contempt for women.
Du Ximei’s eyes narrowed slightly, and her expression turned serious.
“But I still want to play.” She cautiously glanced at Song Sikai and said in a low voice. Then, as if afraid of making him uncomfortable, she quickly got up in dejection.
Song Sikai was heartbroken by her appearance. He kicked Tang Haofei: “You don’t want to play cards with my wife? She’s happy to play with you, you should be happy!”
“Do you think you’re some rare treasure!”
“…”
Jiang Han watched the show with amusement, fixing Jiang Fuchao who was sitting on his lap watching the card game and dozing off.
Hu Yao had never been interested in gambling. She was originally watching TV and chatting with Du Ximei while cracking sunflower seeds. After Du Ximei went to play cards, she followed. She wanted to watch Du Ximei play cards, but Jiang Han asked her to sit next to him.
She watched for a while, then like Jiang Xiaochao, she started to doze off. She didn’t know when she leaned against his arm, and after listening to the noisy commotion for a while, she didn’t wake up for a moment.
Jiang Han was distracted by looking at her from time to time, so he didn’t play cards seriously.
She looked extremely docile as she leaned against him and slept soundly.
Seeing Tang Haofei and the others getting louder and louder, Hu Yao frowned slightly. Jiang Han lifted Jiang Xiaochao from his arms and “threw” him on the bed. He hugged her and said,
“Go outside and play!” He wasn’t watching the show anymore. Instead, he was chasing them away.
Hu Yao slept until the next morning.
When she woke up, Jiang Han was no longer beside her. There were sounds of father and son talking outside the room. Judging by the commotion, it seemed like Jiang Han was about to scold someone again for some reason.
After getting dressed and going out, Hu Yao found out what had happened.
Jiang Xiaochao was afraid that his little ox would be cold, so he put Jiang Han’s clothes on the ox.
“Jiang Fuchao, you have thick skin! You get beaten three times a day, and you’re still a rascal!” Jiang Han’s face was black with anger. He wished he could flatten Jiang Fuchao.
“The ox is cold!” Jiang Xiaochao always had an excuse.
“Heh, stew it, and it won’t be cold anymore!” Jiang Han had endured him and his ox for long enough.
“No, no!”
“No your ass! If your grandparents knew they had a grandson like you, they’d be so angry they’d come back to life!”
“Really? Can dead people come back to life? I’m so awesome!” Jiang Xiaochao didn’t quite understand.
“…”
As expected, he got beaten up by Jiang Han again that morning.
After being beaten, he pouted and took his little ox to eat grass, going to his grandparents’ grave to complain, rambling about how his father bullied him again.
Jiang Han’s father and mother were buried on the mountain, and there were also the graves of ancestors from other families in Taowan Village. Every time it was a memorial day or some holiday, Jiang Han would take Hu Yao and Jiang Xiaochao to visit.
**Before, his wife and son would run around the mountain full of graves. Once, they even jumped on other people’s graves. After that, Jiang Han didn’t want to take them anymore, afraid that if he wasn’t home, they would be beaten up by others. **
This year, Hu Yao was fine. With her current state, even if he gave her a hundred guts, she wouldn’t do something like that. During the New Year, they went to pay their respects.
**Jiang Xiaochao had been there a few times with Jiang Han and knew where his grandparents were buried. Whenever Jiang Han had something important to do, he would go up the mountain to tell his father and mother. **
For example, when Hu Yao was pregnant this time, Jiang Han took wine up the mountain and told his father and mother that their Jiang family was going to have another unlucky egg.
Over time, Jiang Xiaochao learned from him and would also go to tell his grandparents about anything. He would even learn from Jiang Han and bring things with him, either his small biscuits or his eggs. He would pay his respects in a proper way, then eat the things he brought, talking to his grandparents while eating. He would casually throw his little ox nearby to eat grass.
Today, Jiang Han beat him again, so he puffed up his cheeks and took his ox to play with his friends. While playing, they went to the foot of the mountain and went to complain to his grandparents.
Children are not afraid of anything and don’t really understand taboos. Jiang Xiaochao and a group of children ran around all day, going everywhere. Their chattering and childish voices filled the quiet and empty mountain with a lively atmosphere.
After dinner, Jiang Xiaochao took his little ox out to play. It was the New Year and Hu Yao didn’t restrict him, letting him play happily.
Every day, he would come back dirty, his new clothes ripped with holes from firecrackers, and his whole body was messy. But the smile on his face was bright and dazzling, making people’s hearts melt.
Hu Yao couldn’t bear to say anything to him. Jiang Han was different. He never felt any tenderness for Jiang Fuchao. Every day, he saw him come back looking like a dog and still stubbornly arguing with him, he was extremely annoyed. If he didn’t beat him, he would be lucky, let alone scold him?
Especially when he saw Hu Yao patiently and diligently sewing his clothes with such tenderness, he looked so smug, which made him even more annoyed.
It was Hu Yao who spoiled him!
At some point, Jiang Han felt that Jiang Fuchao was even more annoying than before.
The older he got, the more he went against his father! He was only a few years old now, and he was already like this. In a few more years, he would drive him crazy!
He raised a son, but Jiang Fuchao was different from other sons! Even a dog was more obedient than him!
Hu Yao didn’t know that Jiang Han was comparing Jiang Xiaochao to a dog in his heart. When she woke up from her nap, she felt that the house was very quiet.
She had slept for a long time, and her body felt a little weak when she sat up. She shook her head to clear her mind and casually fixed her hair, preparing to get out of bed.
She suddenly noticed something by the side of the bed with her peripheral vision. She paused and looked closely, almost scared to death.
“Ah!!”
