Chapter 91: Go See If She’s Cried Blind
The air grew still.
Hu Yao’s words hung in the air, her anxiety and the suppressed emotions within her finally spilling out.
Everyone knew she was bought by Jiang Han. From the moment she woke up, people constantly reminded her of this fact, even Jiang Han himself.
Ever since being sold by Hu Guifen, she felt like an object. No one cared about her wishes or feelings.
She was fortunate to be bought by Jiang Han instead of the old cripple. She was grateful for the four years of comfort he provided, but she still felt deeply uncomfortable.
Jiang Han’s intentions towards her were too uncertain. He could easily shatter her current life. Perhaps he was somewhat attracted to her appearance, but that wasn’t a solid foundation.
Even Hu Guifen could sell her without a second thought. Jiang Han, who bought her, was only connected to her through a monetary transaction.
Everyone else knew this, looking down upon her, considering her even lower than before. They only pretended to be friendly because she was Jiang Han’s wife.
Maybe she shouldn’t think so much. Perhaps she should just consider being sold to Jiang Han by Hu Guifen as a blessing, live a good life as everyone expected, and not be so sensitive about her situation, clinging to the remnants of self-respect. Maybe she would truly be happy then. After all, Jiang Han hadn’t been stingy with her material needs.
“I’ll pay you back as soon as possible!”
Even if it meant borrowing, she didn’t want to continue like this. She didn’t want to be called Jiang Han’s bought plaything, and she didn’t want young Jiang Xiaochao to fight and curse on her behalf.
Hu Yao raised her tear-filled eyes, her gaze slowly hardening.
Jiang Han’s face darkened, his eyes narrowed as he looked at her.
His expression grew increasingly terrifying with every word she spoke.
Under his silent, menacing gaze, Hu Yao’s heart skipped a beat.
“Pay back?” He caught the flicker of panic in her eyes, a sneer curling his lips. Now she was scared, now she was afraid of him, yet she dared to speak to him like this!
Jiang Han’s anger raged within him, uncontrollable.
“What are you going to pay me with? I’ve treated you like a queen for over four years, and now you’re going to ditch me for a lousy skirt?” He gripped her chin, pulling her closer, his grip tightening.
He was angrier than she expected. Up close, she could feel the dangerous aura of his rage. His suppressed voice was cold and piercing, unlike the usual roars when he was angry.
“You’re dreaming!”
“Don’t think that just because you’re pregnant you can get away with anything! Do you think I’m afraid to touch you?”
“Wear that damn skirt however you want. If you say another word about this, I’ll flatten you!”
He saw the unspoken feelings in her reddening eyes, the feelings that made him uncomfortable and agitated. Jiang Han gritted his teeth, issuing a warning. He couldn’t believe she had such thoughts and dared to tell him about them, with such a serious expression!
A strange sense of unease crept into his heart. Jiang Han’s face was a mask of displeasure.
Damn it, if it wasn’t for the thing in her belly, he would have slapped her silly! Hu Guifen was right! This ungrateful bitch, after four years of tormenting him, now wanted to leave!
He shouldn’t have let that crazy woman Lin Zhaodi get close to her! What did she teach her? To have the audacity to leave her man!
“It’s not about the skirt!” Hu Yao said in a hoarse voice. He was hurting her chin and shoulder, causing her brow to furrow.
“I don’t want to live like this anymore. I’m grateful for your care these past four years, and I won’t forget your kindness. I’ll work to pay back the money you spent on me. And…”
“And what?” Jiang Han interrupted, not wanting to hear any more of her nonsense.
“Where will you go if you leave me?”
“You’re carrying my child and you’re talking like this? You’re pretty bold!”
“You’re going to settle accounts with me? I don’t need your measly few coins!”
“Even if you wanted to pay, you couldn’t! You’re going to work for me forever to pay me back? Add Jiang Fuchao and the one in your belly, it’s not worth much! You better give me ten more kids! You can pay me back slowly!”
He threw a string of angry words at her, again mentioning the children as a form of repayment.
Hu Yao’s eyes grew wetter. She felt overwhelmed by the confusion and unfairness. She didn’t want to cry, but under his close proximity and cold, impatient roar, tears streamed down her face, and she choked back sobs.
Jiang Han’s face was ashen, his eyes fixed on her for a long time.
Her crying annoyed him even more!
“Don’t cry in front of me! Do you think you’re pitiful?” He snapped, turning and storming out.
She continued to sob softly behind him.
She had the nerve to cry! Damn it, he rushed back, afraid that someone had bullied her, and she gave him all this trouble! Cry, cry, cry, all she knew how to do was cry! Even if she cried herself blind, he wouldn’t care!
“Jiang Fuchao, go see if your mom has cried blind!”
He impatiently pulled Jiang Fuchao, who had just finished playing with the cow, and spoke in a frustrated tone.
Jiang Xiaochao had run back after hearing their arguing. He saw Hu Yao crying and pouted, thinking it was his father’s fault again!
“Daddy is mean! He always bullies mommy!” He complained, puffing out his cheeks.
“You want a beating too?” Jiang Han glared at him. “Go!”
Jiang Xiaochao wanted to argue with him, but Hu Yao was more important. He stomped his feet, punched him with a small fist, and then ran to comfort Hu Yao before Jiang Han could reprimand him.
Jiang Han’s face turned black. Those two, mother and son, needed a good lesson!
Hu Yao didn’t cry for long. She had just lost control for a moment. Jiang Xiaochao came to comfort her, and she calmed down soon after.
“Mommy’s okay.” Hu Yao hugged his soft little body, her heart warming at his childish, milky voice.
But she was still filled with a sense of bewilderment.
Jiang Han wouldn’t want her money and let her go. Their superficial “harmony” was torn apart today. She couldn’t leave, and he would probably be even worse to her in the future.
“Mommy’s eyes are red! Daddy yelled at her again!”
After comforting Hu Yao, Jiang Xiaochao went to “settle the score” with Jiang Han again. He heard him yelling at Hu Yao while he was playing with his little calf!
“Get out! I want to yell at you too now!” Jiang Han saw his face, so similar to Hu Yao’s, and felt a surge of annoyance.
“Then yell at me! Don’t yell at Mommy!” Jiang Xiaochao was very upset, speaking to him seriously: “Yaoyao is not afraid of you yelling! Mommy is afraid!”
“Mommy is often unhappy, Yaoyao is very happy.”
“Bad women and old women are mean to Mommy, they all bully Mommy, Daddy comes back and yells at Mommy too!” Jiang Xiaochao snorted.
