Chapter 19 : She Can’t Leave Here
When Li Xueqiu and Erzhu arrived at the county last night, it was already completely dark.
Not to mention whether the restaurant was open, even the Public Security Bureau was deserted.
The streets were as silent as death. Where could she go to find her Lianyu? Erzhu comforted her and said he knew someone in the city who could help her open the restaurant door and look for her.
After hearing this, she was so anxious that she didn’t care about anything else and immediately followed him. But Erzhu was originally a gangster. He had come to the county just to visit the black market. How could he know any powerful people?
The reason he said this was simply because he was attracted to her beauty.
If he could tolerate a woman dressed provocatively and walking in a suggestive manner, then he wouldn’t be a man.
Besides, which well-bred girl would go with a man in the middle of the night? Wasn’t it obvious that she was giving half-hearted signals?
When Li Xueqiu was thrown down in the alley, she finally realized that Erzhu had no intention of helping her find anyone!
He just wanted to take advantage of her!
This infuriated Li Xueqiu, who was already in a bad mood. Erzhu looked like a scrawny dog, short and repulsive. She wouldn’t have been happy even if he gave her money, let alone that he intended to force her!
Li Xueqiu immediately got angry! She reflexively reached for her self-defense weapons in the space! She proceeded to unleash anti-wolf spray, pepper spray, and a baseball bat on him!
Only after knocking him down did she suddenly realize that she could still control the space!
This instantly relieved Li Xueqiu, whose heart had been heavy all night.
Although she couldn’t find the jade now, she could still use the items in the space, which was great news for her.
Thinking about the drop of blood she had placed on the jade, Li Xueqiu felt certain in her heart.
Without wasting any more time, she hurried home on her bike. She even used a flashlight with considerable power on the way because she was afraid of falling.
But her disheveled appearance didn’t go unnoticed by her family, and they immediately exploded with anger!
She quickly declared that she would go to the Shen family to seek justice for herself! However, Li Xueqiu, having just suffered a huge loss, knew that with Shen He around, they would get nothing good by going there now.
Taking revenge wouldn’t be difficult, as a flood would soon hit the team.
It was not uncommon for people to be washed away by a flood, and by then, no one would know.
She had planned everything and thought she had comforted her family, but who would have thought that they would cause such a big trouble for her so early in the morning?
Listening to the discussions of the people around her, her mind flashed back to the suffocating feeling at the Public Security Bureau yesterday, as if she had been pressed by a mountain. Her face turned as pale as a ghost!
Meanwhile, Su Ranran, who was being protected in the yard by the Shen family, had a very complicated mood.
The situation at the door was already chaotic.
Pan Shuifang and Liu Guimei were arguing fiercely, and Gao Fangxia was not backing down, pulling Xu Huilian into the quarrel with the daughter-in-law of the Li family.
A thick wall of people was guarding the gate, as if no one from outside could trouble her.
The posture of protecting her child showed that they didn’t care whether they were right or wrong.
Blinking her somewhat sore eyes, Su Ranran’s hesitant thoughts finally settled at that moment. She couldn’t leave here! Her family was here, and they mattered to her!
If they went to Haishi during the flood and something happened to his family, maybe he wouldn’t blame himself, but she would blame herself for the rest of her life.
Because she knew there was a flood coming.
The quarrel at the door was escalating, and Su Ranran saw that this was not a solution. She knew she had to find a way to make them stop.
But she didn’t rush forward herself. After all, she was the source of the conflict, and if she stepped forward now, she would only be cannon fodder.
Without hesitation, she turned around and walked toward the small door at the back of the Shen family’s house, planning to call the captain to resolve the issue.
But before she could take two steps, she heard a loud voice from outside.
“The captain is here!”
—
At the door, Li Xueqiu had just reached her biological mother and wanted to pull her mother home first. But Liu Guimei was so enraged that she lost her composure. How could she notice who was pulling her?
Thinking it was someone trying to stop the fight, she stretched out her hand and pushed the person aside.
“You thief, I’ll fight you!” Liu Guimei roared and was about to rush forward to fight Pan Shuifang.
But before she could touch her, she was blocked by the two strong brothers of the Shen family! At that moment, the captain finally arrived at the Shen family!
“What’s all this fuss about?”
The captain, Wang Fulai, shouted with a loud, penetrating voice.
Everyone present went silent for a moment!
They all turned toward the voice. Who else could the man leading a dozen militiamen be but the captain?
And standing next to him was Shen He with a cold expression! Looking at his icy demeanor, the Li family’s heads, which had been overwhelmed by anger, instantly cooled down.
Suddenly, a rumor flashed in their minds.
Shen He had been on the battlefield and had truly shed blood with his own hands!
“What’s going on?”
Wang Fulai looked like he had a headache.
Others may not know Shen He’s identity, but he certainly did! Shen He was at the deputy regimental level! He was a high-ranking official!
As for the Li family, they had given him many benefits over the past year. It would be inappropriate for him to show favor to anyone.
Since Shen He was standing next to him, Wang Fulai had to ask with a stern face.
“Captain, it’s okay, my family misunderstood.”
Li Xueqiu had been tricked yesterday due to her carelessness. At this moment, she just wanted to resolve things and get her family away quickly. She wasn’t willing to admit that she had been arrested as a spy yesterday.
But whether this could be settled depended on whether Shen He agreed.
“This female comrade was suspicious. She was carrying valuable gems and couldn’t explain their origin clearly, so she was brought in for investigation by the Public Security Bureau yesterday.”
He briefly told the story in a neutral and impartial way, without exaggeration.
But the eyes of the people present suddenly became very strange!
“Could it be that the Li family’s recent delicious fish and meat are all stolen?”
This could explain how they ate delicious fish and meat every day without a meat ticket.
“But I haven’t heard of any meat stall reporting to the police,” someone retorted, unconvinced.
After all, with the amount of meat the Li family consumed, it would be impossible to do so without anyone noticing.
Overnight, the intelligence of the people in the team seemed to have been suddenly restored.
The more they thought about it, the stranger it felt. Why did the Li family eat delicious fish and meat every day, yet no one seemed to notice something was wrong?
Seeing that things were getting worse, Li Xueqiu’s face turned pale as a ghost.
“Li Xueqiu, tell me yourself, what happened yesterday?”
Resisting the urge to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead, Wang Fulai asked through gritted teeth. Could it be that the meat she had been feeding her family for the past year came from an unknown source?
