Chapter 1 Rebirth
“Bang!” The sound of a door opening echoed through the pitch-black room. “You little slut, you think you’re too good for us? I’ll beat you to death, you shameless bitch! The moment your family sold you to us, you became our property. You think you’re someone special? It’s your lucky day that we get to sleep with you.” The leading old man rained punches and kicks on the woman huddled in the corner, her limbs broken, her body filthy. Two other men, his age, watched with amusement, adding their own commentary. “Boss, beat her to death! We’ve had her for five years, and we’ve lost money and gotten nothing in return. She deserves to die.” Their eyes were filled with malice. “That’s right. We spent all our money buying her, and look what we got? We’re all eunuchs thanks to her.” The second man’s eyes welled up. Thinking about their five years of impotence, they doubled down on their beating. Luo Xingci stared blankly, thinking, ‘It would be better to die. At least I’d be free.’ If only she could go back, she wouldn’t let the Luo family get away with this. And so, Luo Xingci was beaten to death by the three old bachelors. Her body was dumped in the mountains, eventually turning to bones.
…
“You lazy good-for-nothing! What time is it? Get up and wash clothes! Who’s daughter is as lazy as you? Just because you’re dizzy doesn’t mean you’re dead. Don’t act like a spoiled princess, you’re not worthy of that title!” The old woman, Luo Laotai, slammed the door open and walked towards the bed, her eyes fixed on the unconscious girl. In a fit of rage, she grabbed Luo Xingci’s arm and squeezed it hard. “You worthless piece of trash, get up and work! You’ve been lying in bed all morning, wasting work points. We’ve worked for years and our bodies are fine. You’re just lazy. When I worked with you in the fields, you made me do all the work while you rested under the tree.”
Two vicious voices jolted Luo Xingci awake. She rubbed her head, confused, and opened her eyes. Just as a pair of hands were about to slap her, she instinctively rolled over, dodging Luo Laotai’s attack. When she saw Luo Laotai and her cruel stepmother, she was stunned. Wasn’t she sold to those three old bachelors in the mountains and beaten to death? How could she be seeing Luo Laotai and that woman? A thought flashed through her mind: Was this a dream? Or was she experiencing a flashback? Regardless of whether it was a dream or a last glimpse of life, Luo Xingci gathered all her strength and grabbed Luo Laotai’s hand, slapping her hard. Luo Laotai was thrown back, her hand covering her swollen face. She sat there, dumbfounded, unable to believe that this granddaughter, who never dared to speak to her loudly, had actually slapped her. Then, she saw Luo Xingci grab her stepmother, Wu Haixia, by the collar, forcing her to look at her. Luo Xingci picked up a shoe and repeatedly slammed it against Wu Haixia’s face. She didn’t stop until her arms were tired. Wu Haixia’s face was quickly swollen, blood oozing from her lips. The pain made her grimace.
Luo Laotai finally reacted, her hands on her hips as she berated Luo Xingci, “You worthless piece of trash, you dare hit me? I’ll beat you to death! Third son’s wife, get me a stick. I’m going to beat this worthless piece of trash to death today.” Her eyes darted towards Wu Haixia, signaling her to get a stick. Wu Haixia immediately understood what the old woman meant. She rushed to grab a stick. This little bitch dared to hit her! Today, she would make her see the red of the flower. She would return the favor tenfold.
Luo Xingci quickly stepped forward, grabbing Wu Haixia’s collar from behind and dragging her into the room. She then bolted the door shut. Years of hard labor had given her more strength than the lazy Luo Laotai and Wu Haixia.
Seeing this, Luo Laotai felt a chill run down her spine. Could this little bitch be possessed by a demon? Why else would she suddenly change so drastically? Not only did she hit her, but she also beat her stepmother, who she treated like her own mother. Before, when she scolded Wu Haixia, the little bitch would argue back, telling her to stop scolding Wu Haixia. Today, everything happened so abruptly, making her question if this little bitch was possessed. Could it be the old woman’s spirit returning to haunt her? Suddenly, Luo Laotai felt a cold wind blowing from behind, making her shiver.
Luo Xingci continued to approach the two women, each step feeling like she was walking on their hearts. Wu Haixia steadied herself, her eyes filled with disgust as she scolded Luo Xingci, “Luo Xingci, are you tired of living? I’m your mother, how can you hit me?” She pretended to cry, then changed her tone, looking at Luo Laotai beside her, “Even if you don’t like me as your mother anymore, you can hit me, but you can’t hit your grandmother. She’s your real grandmother. How could you become like this? Xingci, we’re all your family!”
Luo Xingci scoffed at these words. Family? These so-called family members sold her to three old bachelors in the mountains for 500 yuan. She was forced to work, eat worse than pigs, sleep less than dogs, and wake up earlier than chickens. She had to work, wash their clothes, cook their meals, even bring them their foot-washing water. This was family? Why didn’t they make their daughter do all this? She clenched her fists, grabbed a small stool nearby, and slammed it against Wu Haixia.
“Family? You make me work to support you maggots. I eat like a pig, sleep like a dog, and wake up like a chicken. I have to work, wash your clothes, cook your meals, even bring you your foot-washing water. This is family? Why don’t you make your daughter do all this?” The more she spoke, the angrier she became, the harder she hit. The men were all out working, and the children were playing. Only Luo Laotai, Wu Haixia, and the dizzy Luo Xingci were left at home.
“You want to beat me to death? Go ahead, beat me! I’ll beat you to death! I’d rather die with you than be bullied by you. Go to hell!” Just now, she confirmed that she was reborn. She was reborn into the year she was eighteen, a flower in her prime.
Luo Xingci raised the stool. Wu Haixia, seeing this, immediately pulled Luo Laotai towards her. The stool landed on Luo Laotai’s head, and blood splattered, staining her wrinkled face. Luo Laotai touched her face, saw the blood, and fainted.
Wu Haixia, seeing Luo Laotai faint, looked at the crazed Luo Xingci with fear. She backed away. “Xingci, don’t be impulsive, murder is against the law.” The most important thing now was to calm this little bitch down. Once she got out, she would make her pay.
