Chapter 10: I Do Have One Condition
Wang Lijun had a gentle smile on his face, eagerly awaiting Lin Yitang’s answer.
As the director of the military hospital, he had to recruit such talent.
“Teacher!”
Xia Zhuxin didn’t expect Wang Lijun to want to recruit Lin Yitang to the hospital. That was absolutely unacceptable!
Lin Yitang, a person who hadn’t even finished university, what qualifications did she have to work in the same hospital as her?
Jealousy and anger almost drove Xia Zhuxin to lose her mind.
“Zhuxin, you’re not in a position to question my decision.”
Wang Lijun warned her with a glance.
Xia Zhuxin’s eyes immediately reddened. Wang Lijun, her teacher, had always been kind to her, and this was the first time he had been so stern. And it was all thanks to Lin Yitang!
“Thank you, Director Wang, for your kindness, but I don’t plan to work at the hospital.”
Lin Yitang’s refusal surprised everyone.
After all, in this era, being a doctor was a highly respected profession with a good income.
Chu Peilan couldn’t help but persuade her, “Yitang, it’s a good opportunity to work at the hospital. Why don’t you reconsider?”
“No need, Aunt Chu. I have my own plans.”
It was 1982, a time of rapid national development and the takeoff of the private economy.
In her past life, Lin Yitang had seen many bosses who made a fortune in just a few years. In this life, she had to seize this once in a lifetime opportunity.
Seeing Lin Yitang’s firm decision, Chu Peilan didn’t say anything more.
Yu Jingchuan pushed Chu Peilan out of the hospital. Xia Zhuxin also wanted to see them off, but Wang Lijun kept her behind.
On the way back to the Yu family’s home, the atmosphere was eerily calm.
Only after entering the living room did Chu Peilan stop Lin Yitang, apologizing awkwardly, “Yitang, I’m sorry. I didn’t fully trust you.”
When Xia Zhuxin said that her leg nerves might have died, Chu Peilan was also startled.
Ultimately, she hadn’t been able to fully trust Lin Yitang, causing Lin Yitang to suffer injustice.
“It’s okay, Aunt Chu. I understand.”
Lin Yitang didn’t blame Chu Peilan. Instead, she squatted down, looking into her eyes and saying, “Aunt Chu, I will cure your legs, so you must trust me completely from now on.”
“Okay.”
Looking at those clear and determined eyes, Chu Peilan felt a surge of hope and confidence.
“Then I’ll go back to my room.”
After saying this, Lin Yitang went upstairs, and Yu Jingchuan didn’t even have a chance to speak to her.
The man stood there, his eyes fixed on the slender figure, his heart filled with complex emotions.
Back in her room, Lin Yitang entered her space. These past few days, she had bought some vegetable seeds and planned to try planting them in the space.
After planting, Lin Yitang felt tired and drank several mouthfuls of spring water.
The cool and sweet spring water quenched her thirst, making her feel refreshed, and a layer of mud appeared on her body.
After coming out of the space, Lin Yitang quickly took a bath. The toxins and impurities in her body hadn’t been completely eliminated, and she estimated that she would need to drink the spring water a few more times to change this.
After washing off the mud, Lin Yitang found that she seemed to have become even whiter, her skin as delicate as the finest jade, and her eyes brighter, her features more three-dimensional.
Lin Yitang looked at herself in the mirror, increasingly satisfied. She was about to put on her clothes when she realized that her undergarment was still drying on the balcony; she had forgotten to take it in.
Her chest wasn’t very full, so she still wore an old-fashioned bellyband; it was more comfortable.
Lin Yitang put on her nightgown, wiped her hair, and walked towards the balcony.
The balcony outside her room wasn’t large; she usually only dried her undergarments there.
Lin Yitang walked to the balcony, about to reach for the purple bellyband hanging on the clothesline, when a sudden gust of wind blew.
She watched helplessly as the purple undergarment was blown downstairs, swirling around before finally landing on Yu Jingchuan’s face as he stood in the courtyard.
The man, who had just arrived in the courtyard, hadn’t reacted when he felt his vision darken, a fragrant scent filling his nostrils.
He instinctively reached out and took the object off his face.
The touch was smooth. When he saw what he was holding, Yu Jingchuan’s ears turned red.
It was a woman’s bellyband.
Lin Yitang upstairs felt even more embarrassed. She quickly left her room and rushed downstairs.
Before she reached the bottom of the stairs, Yu Jingchuan had already come up.
“Here’s yours.”
The undergarment was held tightly in the man’s hand. Lin Yitang felt her cheeks burn. She quickly took it, turning to run back to her room.
“Lin Yitang, I’m sorry. I misunderstood you at the hospital. Thank you for treating my mother’s legs.
I’ll pay you for the treatment. If you have any conditions, you can mention them, and I’ll do my best to fulfill them.”
Yu Jingchuan’s words stopped Lin Yitang. She turned to look at him.
“I do have a condition.”
The woman’s eyes were exceptionally bright. Perhaps because she had just finished showering, her hair was wet and loose, making her small face even more exquisite, with an indescribable charm.
The two were very close, and Yu Jingchuan smelled the fragrance that had filled his nostrils earlier. He felt his throat dry and subconsciously swallowed.
Lin Yitang seemed to be deliberately seducing him again, and her methods were even more skillful than before.
Yu Jingchuan subconsciously took two steps back, increasing the distance between them, and said in a low voice, “I will fulfill any condition within my ability, but you’d better give up those inappropriate thoughts!”
Hearing this, Lin Yitang wanted to laugh. This was the first time she had found Yu Jingchuan so narcissistic.
“Don’t worry, I’ll keep my word. I have no feelings for you now, and I will definitely keep my distance from you in the future.
I just want you to help me find some medicinal herb seeds or seedlings.”
She wanted to try growing medicinal herbs in the spring water space. Her intuition told her that growing medicinal herbs there would bring her unexpected benefits.
But medicinal herb seeds were extremely difficult to find, so she could only try planting vegetables first.
If she remembered correctly, Yu Jingchuan had a good friend who was a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner and seemed to have his own medicinal herb field. This should be easy for him.
“You want to grow medicinal herbs?”
Yu Jingchuan didn’t expect Lin Yitang to make this request.
“I have my own reasons.”
Lin Yitang didn’t elaborate.
Yu Jingchuan readily agreed, “Okay, I can help you.”
Lin Yitang nodded and returned to her room, while Yu Jingchuan returned to the barracks. He made up for the training in the afternoon and slept soundly at night.
But that night, he dreamed again. He not only dreamed of Lin Yitang but also of her purple undergarment.
