Chapter 24: Don’t Match People Up

Yu Chengyu’s eyes twinkled. She had planned to have Lin Yitang witness Yu Jingchuan celebrating Xia Zhuxin’s birthday, but Lin Yitang had refused.

Unexpectedly, they met here.  It seemed fate wanted Lin Yitang to give up on her brother!

She quickly agreed with Xia Zhuxin.

“Yes, there aren’t many empty seats. Let’s sit together!”

Yu Jingchuan remained silent. Yu Chengyu pulled Xia Zhuxin to sit down.

Chen Xiuyuan didn’t have a chance to speak before they sat at their table. He was unhappy.

He finally had a chance to have dinner alone with Lin Yitang, but it was ruined. He couldn’t confess in front of everyone and would have to find another opportunity.

Xia Zhuxin smiled at Chen Xiuyuan, greeting him, “I remember you. You’re Chen Xiuyuan, one of Jingchuan’s soldiers, and close to him.

I’m Xia Zhuxin. I’ve known Jingchuan for many years. I work at the military hospital. Feel free to contact me if you need anything.”

She was polite and gentle. Chen Xiuyuan greeted her.

“Sister Zhuxin, it’s your birthday. Order more dishes. My brother’s paying; it doesn’t matter how much we eat!”

Yu Chengyu handed the menu to Xia Zhuxin.

“No, I don’t want Jingchuan to spend too much. Let’s order a few dishes.”

“Sister Zhuxin, don’t worry. My brother is rich! And it’s your birthday; he’ll be happy to spend money on you!

He prepared your gift in advance. I, his sister, don’t get that treatment. He values you so much!”

Yu Chengyu spoke to Xia Zhuxin but looked at Lin Yitang.

Surprisingly, she saw no disappointment or jealousy in Lin Yitang’s eyes.

Lin Yitang’s expression was calm, as if she didn’t care.

Yu Chengyu was surprised. Did Lin Yitang finally realize her brother liked Xia Zhuxin and given up?

That would be great; she wouldn’t have to worry anymore.

Xia Zhuxin blushed, stealing a glance at Yu Jingchuan, a sweet smile on her face.

“Chengyu, don’t say that.”

“Sister Zhuxin, what’s there to be embarrassed about? I’ve decided you’ll be my sister in law!”

Seeing Xia Zhuxin blush, Yu Chengyu giggled.

Yu Jingchuan’s face darkened.

“Yu Chengyu, stop talking nonsense!”

“I’m not wrong!”

Yu Chengyu retorted but was silenced by Yu Jingchuan’s glare.

Chen Xiuyuan understood Yu Jingchuan and Xia Zhuxin’s relationship. He looked at Xia Zhuxin gossipingly.

Yu Jingchuan liked this type of girl. She was attractive, but he thought she was far inferior to Lin Yitang. Yu Jingchuan had poor taste!

He didn’t care about Yu Jingchuan and Xia Zhuxin.  Noticing Lin Yitang’s silence, he started a conversation with her.

They chatted happily, excluding others.

After the food arrived, Xia Zhuxin smiled, “You two look perfect together.”

Chen Xiuyuan blushed, smiling foolishly, his heart soaring.

Lin Yitang looked at Xia Zhuxin, about to speak, when Yu Jingchuan said, “Perfect? Don’t play matchmaker.”

His tone was cold and displeased, and Xia Zhuxin’s smile froze.

What did Yu Jingchuan mean? Was he blaming her for matching Lin Yitang and Chen Xiuyuan?

Chen Xiuyuan was displeased.

“Commander Yu, this is between Lin and me. Don’t interfere.”

Chen Xiuyuan respected Yu Jingchuan but didn’t think he could interfere in his relationship with Lin Yitang.

Yu Jingchuan looked coldly at Lin Yitang, but she ignored him, as if he weren’t there.

Yu Jingchuan felt annoyed and suffocated.

Xia Zhuxin lost her smile, clenching her fists. She understood Yu Jingchuan.

He clearly cared about Lin Yitang!

This was unacceptable to Xia Zhuxin. Why? Didn’t Yu Jingchuan dislike Lin Yitang?

Lin Yitang must have seduced him!  She was seducing both Yu Jingchuan and Chen Xiuyuan.

Bitch!

Since Lin Yitang liked seducing men, she would help!

Xia Zhuxin’s eyes narrowed, a dark glint flashing.

No one enjoyed the meal. Chen Xiuyuan noticed Lin Yitang’s discomfort and paid the bill, leaving with her.

Instead of taking her home, he took her to the park.

The park’s flowers were in full bloom. Sitting by the lake, the scenery was relaxing.

There were few people around, perfect for a confession. Chen Xiuyuan planned to confess.

He was nervous, looking at Lin Yitang’s profile, rehearsing his words but unable to muster the courage.

Seeing sweat on Lin Yitang’s forehead, he stood up. “There’s a vendor selling iced soda. I’ll buy some!”

Before Lin Yitang could refuse, he rushed off.

Lin Yitang shook her head, stood up, and looked at the lake, feeling relaxed.

Then, she heard footsteps. Thinking it was Chen Xiuyuan, she turned to see a fat woman.

The woman rushed towards her.  Lin Yitang was knocked into the lake.

The lake was deep, and Lin Yitang couldn’t swim. She struggled but began to sink.

“Help! Someone fell into the water!”

The fat woman shouted and left.

Lin Yitang felt weak, her eyelids heavy.

Would she die here?

Just as she despaired, she saw someone swimming towards her.

Was it Chen Xiuyuan?

Her vision blurred.  A strong arm wrapped around her waist, pulling her upwards.
