Back to the Disaster: Scumbag Dad and Stepmom Step Aside Chapter 31: Weapons

The Weifang Hotel wasn’t far from here.

In less than half an hour, the glass curtain wall building appeared before their eyes.

It was a commercial building, with the biggest sign reading “Weifang Hotel,” but it wasn’t just a hotel.

It also included a clubhouse, gym, offices, and more.

The lobby that Yu Xifeng had seen before was already flooded.

The three of them worked together to drag the kayak ashore.

Hu Qiangyong scratched his head and whispered, “Do we search together or split up?”

Yu Xifeng said, “Let’s first see if there’s anyone else here.”

Taking the elevator was definitely not an option.

This floor looked like offices, with many desks.

Sister Yun opened each drawer, sweeping all the snacks she could find into her pockets.

Yu Xifeng just took on the job of keeping watch. She took the prepared binoculars from her bag and scanned around the windows, checking inside and outside.

Hu Qiangyong tossed over a pack of beef jerky.

Behind the fire door was the stairwell. Yu Xifeng tore open the package and took a bite.

The beef jerky was spicy and tough, requiring quite some chewing.

Yu Xifeng stood guard by the door to prevent anyone from suddenly coming in.

Once the two finished scavenging, they regrouped.

Going up the stairs, this floor was a foot bath spa.

Dragging the kayak was inconvenient, so Hu Qiangyong put it in a corner and covered it with a tablecloth.

This floor was very large, so they split up on the spot.

Yu Xifeng found many disposable towels, toilet paper, and wet wipes in a cabinet.

She reached her hand into the cabinet and gathered everything in front of her into her space.

There were also unopened disposable bed sheets.

Along with unused scissors, condoms, and pillowcases.

These things were also needed by Sister Yun and Hu Qiangyong, though not as urgently as food.

The kayak had limited carrying capacity; unlike Yu Xifeng, who had a space to store items,

they could only pick and choose carefully.

Hu Qiangyong found a pack of lighters; he wrapped them in a plastic bag and put them in his clothes pocket.

When the three regrouped, Yu Xifeng carried a basket with mint candies, a bag of egg-yolk filled cakes, and some twisted fried dough sticks (mahua) that seemed to have been left by a staff member.

The mahua was well sealed and still crispy as ever.

Sister Yun found the beverage storage box, which contained quite a variety — orange juice, cola, and more.

Although these could replenish sugar, they were heavy and took up space, so each took two bottles; no one expected to carry everything back.

So far, they only found snacks — though quite a pile — but no staple food.

Sister Yun and Hu Qiangyong couldn’t help but feel a bit disappointed.

The floor above was the hotel suites.

Although the corridor was dim, it was still obvious the decor was luxurious.

“There’s a refrigerator!” Hu Qiangyong shouted.

He rushed over eagerly, but when the door opened, a strong stench hit their noses.

The power was out; everything stored in the fridge had spoiled.

Sister Yun sighed painfully.

“A five-star hotel should have a backup power supply,” Yu Xifeng adjusted her flashlight’s direction, deep in thought.

If only she could release Little Orange from the space, maybe there would be an unexpected gain.

But now she couldn’t bring Little Orange out from the space.

As before, the three split up again.

Yu Xifeng checked door by door and collected five or six good-quality mattresses from a storage room.

On the other side, Sister Yun took about ten bars of soap.

The bathing supplies at home had long run out.

Soap was durable — good for washing hair, face, and body.

Mainly because it was small and lighter than shower gel.

Yu Xifeng looked up at the ceiling.

The depth of each floor should be roughly the same; she remembered downstairs this spot seemed quite wide.

There should be a rather large room behind here.

Just as Yu Xifeng was about to go around and check, she heard Hu Qiangyong’s voice from the corridor’s end.

“Here!”

He was very happy.

The direction he pointed was a row of vending machines.

Besides snacks, there were also packets of instant noodles inside.

If they could get them all out, the three could eat for ten to fifteen days without problems.

Yu Xifeng rummaged in her backpack and pulled out a fire hammer, handing it over.

“You really have everything,” Hu Qiangyong marveled.

The instant noodles were stuck tight in the vending machine’s layers.

Hu Qiangyong used brute force, breaking the vending machine into pieces, finally getting all the instant noodles out.

Sister Yun took a bedsheet to pack them, somehow folding it quickly into a bundle.

Carrying it on her shoulder made it much easier.

The three sat cross-legged on the floor, sharing a bag of spicy strips from the snack vending machine.

Yu Xifeng checked the time: “We’ve been out long enough today. Let’s search a bit more, then prepare to head back.”

The others naturally agreed.

With these instant noodles, the trip wouldn’t be in vain.

Sister Yun’s tense expression relaxed a lot.

Hu Qiangyong put the noodles away and went to another room.

Yu Xifeng picked a suite.

This suite was nearly 300 square meters and even had an indoor swimming pool.

Yu Xifeng guessed it was the presidential suite.

The genuine leather sofa felt very nice. She touched it and took it without hesitation.

She planned to set up a lounge in her space.

Gathering more furniture; even if nothing else, this chair would be good for firewood.

There was also a small fridge here.

Yu Xifeng opened it and saw the power was still on.

As expected of a presidential suite — there was a backup power supply.

Unfortunately, the fridge was empty.

Since there was power, Yu Xifeng returned to the entrance and tried to turn on the lights.

The magnificent crystal chandelier lit up the entire hall.

Yu Xifeng’s eyes brightened — beside the wine cabinet was a safe.

She studied the safe for a while.

She found the lock had multiple layers, beyond her ability to open.

Yu Xifeng took it into her space.

The space was within her consciousness; anything inside it, no matter how many locks, couldn’t stop her.

Before she could see what was inside the safe,

she suddenly felt a cool breeze brush over a hillside, and seemed to faintly see the source of a mountain spring.

The sound of flowing water.

Because there was something good inside the safe, her space expanded again.

On the barren hillside, besides the fruit trees Yu Xifeng had planted, faint hints of green appeared.

That faint green was so slight that Yu Xifeng couldn’t clearly see it.

Her attention was still on the safe.

Inside was still a gun.

The instant she clearly saw it, Yu Xifeng’s heart skipped a beat, and her breathing grew rapid.

After all this searching, she had finally found it.
