A loud bang.
Hu Qiangyong’s club slammed down on the opponent’s head, splitting it clean in two.
He grabbed the long knife that Yu Xifeng had thrown over and stood guard on her left side. Using his strength, no one dared approach.
Yuan Ge lay on the ground, a blood hole in the middle of his forehead.
Yun Jie and Hu Qiangyong exchanged glances.
Fortunately, the lighting was dim, so no one noticed their surprise.
Even if they had, there was no time to care.
In her past life, Yu Xifeng had gotten hold of a hunter’s rifle, which took a lot of effort to load.
She had worried that her shot might miss, wasting a bullet.
Now it seemed she had some natural talent for shooting.
Whether it was a crossbow or a rifle, she picked it up quickly.
This shot was no miss either.
“Gun!”
“She has a gun!”
“I’m out of here.”
“Run!”
Screams broke out one after another. Everyone stopped.
People retreated, dropping their weapons on the ground, too afraid to bend down and pick them up.
What intimidated them wasn’t just the gun—it was Yu Xifeng’s unfailing accuracy.
These people, gathered by Yuan Ge to swing their blades at weaker targets, were nothing more than a ragtag mob.
They scrambled backward chaotically, exposing their backs to Yu Xifeng—moving targets.
A faint cold smile appeared at the corner of Yu Xifeng’s lips.
There were only seven bullets; she had used the first one on Yuan Ge, leaving six remaining.
She had to use them sparingly.
Even so, today, she wasn’t planning to let a single one of them live.
Her gaze stayed fixed on the crossbow that had fallen from the crossbowman.
They hadn’t taken the crossbow while fleeing, not for lack of trying—but Yu Xifeng’s rifle muzzle was always aimed in that direction.
No one dared rush forward.
Yu Xifeng walked over and picked up the crossbow.
The mechanism felt like an extension of her arm, pointing and shooting with precision.
She efficiently reloaded arrows, bowing her head slightly; not a single shot missed.
One by one, the enemies fell.
Some who realized they couldn’t outrun her made a desperate choice, turning around and charging.
Once close, the advantage of gun or arrow disappeared under a club’s strike.
They had numbers—more people—so victory wasn’t impossible.
That man thought carefully—but in the moment he turned, Yu Xifeng’s crossbow had already swung around.
An arrow pierced his chest.
Yu Xifeng didn’t even blink, expressionless as she loaded the next arrow.
In no time, the room fell completely silent.
Yun Jie glanced down at the feet.
The man she had smashed was a bloody mess, unrecognizable.
Hu Qiangyong gripped his blood-soaked long knife.
Neither said a word.
Last time, Yu Xifeng wielding a chainsaw had been terrifying enough.
They never expected that was only the tip of the iceberg.
Not even the shock of the gun compared to Yu Xifeng herself.
How—how did she dare?
While Hu Qiangyong and Yun Jie’s hearts churned with emotions, Yu Xifeng was in a good mood.
The gun worked well, and the newly acquired crossbow was handy—couldn’t have asked for better.
She crouched to retrieve the arrows.
Most had pierced hearts; when she pulled them out, she didn’t forget to scavenge around.
She found quite a bit of gold and silver.
Paper money was worthless now, so naturally, these people chose to steal valuables.
All that went straight to Yu Xifeng.
They had plenty of compressed biscuits and canned meat.
When Yun Jie saw that, though still uneasy, her expression improved a little.
Yu Xifeng took the gold and silver but didn’t share the food.
Having dealt with these people, there was no rush to leave.
There was still some space left on the kayak.
Hu Qiangyong carried over two bags of flour from the warehouse; Yun Jie picked and chose from the freezer—
Beef, lamb chops, chicken legs—picking large chunks to load onto the kayak, even bringing over two buckets of oil.
They only stopped when the kayak’s weight limit was reached.
Yu Xifeng squatted on the side, cleaning arrowheads one by one, putting them back into the quiver, slinging it over her back like a killing god.
The other two wisely kept silent about the gun, acting as if they hadn’t seen it.
Although they carried away quite a bit, there was still more left in the storage room.
The pain in Yun Jie and Hu Qiangyong’s hearts was almost written on their faces.
If they could come here, and Yuan Ge could come here, then naturally others could come too.
In a situation like today’s, if it weren’t for Yu Xifeng, no one knew how things would have turned out.
This place was far from Kokoya County; Yun Jie and Hu Qiangyong wouldn’t dare come here again.
Not to mention whether they had the ability to survive out here—so many had died, and their hearts still pounded loudly, as if they were about to jump out of their chests.
Before leaving, Yun Jie covered the supplies with the bedsheets they had brought, so no one would see what was inside.
Hu Qiangyong took the bloodstained knife, didn’t bother cleaning it, and just placed it on top of the bedsheets.
Yun Jie asked Yu Xifeng to put the crossbow and arrows on top as well.
It was a warning—to let people know they weren’t to be trifled with.
Yu Xifeng agreed.
After Yun Jie and Hu Qiangyong got on the kayak, Yu Xifeng said, “Wait for me two minutes.”
The kayak was already full; they thought Yu Xifeng must have forgotten something, and nodded cooperatively.
Yu Xifeng went back the way she came.
She had her eyes on the hotel’s backup generator.
Even though she had five generators, this kind of thing was always better to have more of.
There was also diesel stored nearby for generating power—something she absolutely could not miss.
She put the generator and diesel all into her space.
Without the backup power, the freezer couldn’t keep running, so Yu Xifeng took everything Yun Jie and Hu Qiangyong hadn’t managed to carry away.
Those huge lobsters also became Yu Xifeng’s stockpile.
She wasn’t sure if her downloaded data included recipes for this kind of lobster.
After taking the generator, the storage room was left utterly dark.
The storage room was pitch black and empty.
Yu Xifeng smiled with satisfaction and picked up a deliberately left-behind dagger on the way back.
She still steered the way back to the community.
The water surface looked much the same all around; it was already evening, and the dimming twilight grew even thinner.
After adjusting her direction a few times, she could see Kokoya County.
Along the way, they encountered two groups of people—those who had no choice but to come out scavenging for supplies.
When they saw Yu Xifeng’s boat fully loaded, their eyes showed both covetousness and caution.
Once they saw the crossbow and long knife, they gave a wide berth from afar.
“Don’t tell anyone about what happened today,” Yun Jie said.
Yu Xifeng replied nonchalantly.
Hu Qiangyong nodded with a heavy expression.
Back at the community, Hu Qiangyong’s family waited in the stairwell.
Just like last time, all the supplies were moved to Yun Jie’s place for sorting and sharing.
This time, there weren’t many people coming up to ask questions.
Some even kept their distance from them voluntarily.
The blood on the long knife still dripped down.
The intimidation of the weapons stopped many from speaking up.
If they did talk, it would be either sour remarks or nonsense.
Though Yu Xifeng and the other two didn’t say anything themselves, news from the Lin Mansion still spread.
Everyone knew the outside world was not peaceful.
At a time like this, anyone who could bring things back from outside was not to be underestimated.
Most people credited Hu Qiangyong for the success.
After all, the combined size of Yun Jie and Yu Xifeng didn’t even reach half of Hu Qiangyong’s.
Hu Qiangyong’s family clearly thought the same.
