Footsteps approached the door when Fang Heng suddenly stood up and kicked open the back door.
There was a burst of startled cries from the hallway.
Then, Fang Heng’s voice rang out:
“When Yan Ze took the high school entrance exam, he scored 723 points. Who among you scored higher than that? Go check Yan Ze’s exam scores at Experimental No. 1 High School. There wasn’t a single time in his three years of middle school that he didn’t rank in the top three. If you find one, I’ll kneel down and apologize to you.”
“I’ll tell you why his progress is so fast—because his brain alone is worth two of yours, a bunch of useless barking dogs.”
Sunlight spilled through the back door, illuminating Fang Heng’s tall figure.
I had almost forgotten those grades, but he remembered them better than I did.
But back in middle school, I didn’t even know Fang Heng.
Just as I was about to feel touched, I heard Fang Heng continue, “You can question Yan Ze’s character, but you’d better not question his grades. Yes, he’s a piece of trash, but at least his brain still works.”
Damn it!
The next day, I skipped class again. I couldn’t go back to being the old Yan Ze that Fang Heng wanted.
I had to pay off Liu She soon. Otherwise, who knows what other trouble he might stir up.
In the afternoon, while unloading goods at the fruit store, I saw Fang Nian.
Wiping the sweat from my brow, I checked the time and frowned, “It’s school time. Why are you here?”
Fang Nian said, “Aren’t you not in class either?”
I replied, “We’re different.”
I’m hopeless, but he has a bright future.
Fang Nian stubbornly retorted, “What’s different?”
I hoisted another load of goods, not wanting to argue, “Don’t be difficult. Get back to school. I don’t have time for you.”
Fang Nian silently came over to help me carry the goods.
After putting everything in the shop, I told the boss I needed a break and dragged Fang Nian to the corner of the street.
“What do you want?”
Fang Nian’s eyes reddened, and he asked, “Why are you avoiding me?”
Ever since I got stuck between these two brothers, I’ve been avoiding Fang Nian.
The reason’s simple: Fang Nian is too clingy.
I’m not genuinely interested in him, so there’s no point in giving him false hope.
Also, I’m scared Fang Heng will really break my bones someday.
“You’ve noticed I’m avoiding you, so you must know why.” I acted like a scumbag, “Fang Nian, anyone else can like me, but not you. I’ve treated you so badly. If you still like me, it means you’re being pathetic.”
Fang Nian grabbed my wrist, his voice stubborn, “I want to be pathetic, okay?”
Just as I was about to reply, I saw a group of three to five thugs with metal rods heading our way.
They looked familiar—they ran with Liu She. They were probably here for me.
Cursing under my breath, I grabbed Fang Nian and ran.
We weaved through several alleys, and it seemed like we’d finally shaken them off. But then Fang Nian suddenly stopped, bent over, and gasped for air, “Yan Ze, I… I can’t run anymore.”
Before I could respond, I felt a hard blow to my back.
We were surrounded.
There was no escape.
I quickly shielded Fang Nian, covering him as I took three blows. Blood dripped from my head onto Fang Nian’s lips.
He stared at me intensely and then licked the drop of blood.
Suddenly, he hugged my head and kissed me.
The taste of blood filled my mouth, and I was so annoyed I wanted to curse.
Is kissing all he thinks about at a time like this?
Can’t he focus on something more important?
The last thing I remember before passing out was a stream of curses running through my mind.
When I woke up, my hands and feet were tied, and my eyes were blindfolded.
Something soft brushed against my lips.
My clothes were being pushed aside, and a hand pressed on my abdomen, slowly sliding downward.
I turned my head away and frowned, asking, “Who is it?”
“Where’s Liu She? Tell him to come out.”
No one answered.
My pants had already been pulled down, and someone pinched my earlobe, giving it a little bite.
A trail of wet kisses moved from my neck down to my collarbone.
Gritting my teeth, I coldly ordered, “Get off.”
A warm breath brushed against my ear, and I heard a familiar voice: “Yan Ze, it’s me.”
Fang Nian spoke with a trembling voice, almost crying, “Liu She and his guys drugged me. They want me to… to sleep with you.”
His voice was soft, but his hands didn’t stop.
I took a deep breath and said, “Fang Nian, untie me. I’ll get us out of here.”
“I can’t. They’re watching us.”
Fang Nian continued to kiss me randomly, rubbing against my leg, “Yan Ze, I’m so hot. Help me, okay?”
My head was pounding, and when Fang Nian grabbed my ankle, I lost consciousness again.
When I woke up again, I was in the hospital.
Through the door, I could hear people talking.
I recognized the voices—one was Fang Nian, and the other was Liu She.
“Is he awake?”
Fang Nian’s voice sounded unfamiliar—cold and detached.
“Not yet,” Liu She replied.
“You hit him too hard,” Fang Nian said.
“It was only three hits. Your brother hit me five times that one time, and I’m fine. What did the doctor say?” Liu She replied nonchalantly.
“Just a mild concussion.”
Liu She chuckled, “You’re something else. The guy was knocked out, and you were still messing with his legs. Weren’t you afraid he’d die on your bed?”
Fang Nian didn’t respond and simply said, “Yan Ze still owes you 1,500. Don’t forget to ask for it. Remind him—if he’s short on cash, he can come to me.”
“Not done playing with him yet?” Liu She laughed. “Sometimes I think Yan Ze’s really pitiful—he’s getting played by you and still thinks you’re his little bunny.”
Fang Nian coldly said, “He deserves it.”
His tone was soft but chilling.
I pushed myself out of bed, the slimy sensation between my legs making me nauseous.
I opened the hospital room door, and both Fang Nian and Liu She turned their heads to look at me.
I stared at Fang Nian and asked, “Young Master Fang, what exactly did I do to deserve this?”
Fang Nian’s face turned pale instantly, but he said nothing.
How boring.
I turned to leave, but Fang Nian grabbed my wrist.
“The doctor said you need to stay for observation for another day.”
I flung his hand off and slapped him hard, “Get lost.”
He Li is dead.
She slit her wrists.
When I got home, she was already gone.
She left me only a note.
I met that woman’s husband. I don’t know him. I never slept with him, and he doesn’t have a disease. Stop giving them money.
Your teacher called and said you’ve made great progress. If you keep it up, you could get into a good university. Xiao Ze, I remember you were a good student before. You only ended up like this because of me.
