Chapter 102
The emergence of the Blazing Fire Domain turned the entire battlefield into a high-temperature hell, even triggering the battle protection system. A translucent energy layer separated the battlefield from the spectator stands.
The audience in the battle hall couldn’t help but gasp. In the previous battle, Fel hadn’t used his Beastmaster talent to release the true Blazing Fire Domain. They hadn’t expected to witness a domain skill on par with those of Emperor-tier species in a freshman battle.
Fierce flames erupted continuously, and the battlefield was nearly turning into molten magma. Yet, standing in the arena, Mu Huiyue remained unfazed. When it came to domain skills, she was not necessarily at a disadvantage.
“Ellen, use Intimidation.”
“Harvey, Evil Ghost Face!”
At the Beastmaster’s command, the bone-white skull emitted a silent soul-piercing wail. Dark energy, visible to the naked eye, suddenly spread out from him, colliding with the expanding Blazing Fire Domain.
The Intimidation of an Emperor-tier species was not enough to resist the Emperor-level domain. The dark energy clashed desperately against the overwhelming heat. The Paw Tooth Soldier’s figure vanished into the shadows.
A strange, dark night wind miraculously swept through the blazing heat of the fiery battlefield, and the Night Demon Scarecrow swayed gently within the small dark zone maintained by the Paw Tooth Soldier.
The thick dark aura gathered with the arrival of the night wind. The crows on the scarecrow’s arms were startled and flew up, scattering in all directions, emitting hoarse, croaky calls.
Not only the spectators from the capital university, but even Fel in the battle arena, experienced a brief moment of disorientation. It was as if in the high-temperature Blazing Fire Domain, he saw the moon hanging in the dark night sky, along with the desolate and mysterious wasteland in the shadows.
The dark aura spiraled upwards, and thousands of crows flew toward them, their numbers far exceeding the ones that had scattered before.
Their pitch-black feathers blended into the thick night, forming some immense, indescribable shape, resembling a laughing and screeching monster, or like vengeful spirits returning from hell.
Although the dark aura and the crows’ feathers were completely silent, everyone felt as if the sharp, hoarse calls were ringing in their ears.
The tall scarecrow stood amidst this night wind, surrounded by the dark aura and crows’ feathers, its blood-red pupils fixed on everything in the arena, becoming increasingly terrifying.
Snap—
The Windhawk, which had been preparing for a high-speed sneak attack, staggered and nearly fell from the sky. Its wings uncontrollably shivered, unable to advance another inch toward the Night Demon Scarecrow.
The intense heat of the Blazing Fire Domain seemed to be extinguished by the cool night air. The swirling red flames quietly vanished, and the ashes dispersed, restoring the battlefield to its usual state.
The Night Demon Scarecrow continued to sway gently, but the spectators couldn’t help but shudder.
That fleeting glance hidden in the moonlit night made it feel as if they were being watched by some extremely dangerous and terrifying creature. Even the onlookers in the stands felt a chill run down their spines.
Fel steadied himself. In this round of confrontation, only the pitch-black scarecrow remained on the battlefield. The Bone Soldier had long since disappeared, hiding somewhere in the shadows, waiting for the right moment to strike.
…This was why he hated battling against dark-type pets.
Especially when facing a Beast Master like Mu Huiyue, where even the smallest oversight could completely change the situation on the battlefield.
“Eleven, use Flame Tornado!”
The B-level fire attack skill, Flame Tornado, was a wide-range attack capable of covering the entire battlefield.
The Sunflame Pegasus spread its wings and flew into the air. Its flaming feathers flapped powerfully, stirring up a high-temperature tornado that blew forward.
“Harvey, Crow Feather Storm!” Mu Huiyue commanded.
The crows on the Night Demon Scarecrow’s arms took flight, their jet-black feathers creating a storm of their own, just as impressive as the Flame Tornado. The two attacks intertwined, making it difficult to tell which side would prevail.
“Fourteen, Hot Wind!”
The Gale Red Falcon shot out of the Flame Tornado, moving so fast that it left only an afterimage behind. It swiftly attacked the area beneath the Crow Feather Storm.
The Bone Soldier, which was about to emerge from the shadows, once again vanished into the shadow cast by the crow feathers, altering its path and reappearing behind the Night Demon Scarecrow.
Mu Huiyue raised an eyebrow slightly. The Gale Red Falcon had caught Ellen’s fleeting moment for the second time.
It wasn’t just based on combat experience alone—perhaps the Gale Red Falcon possessed the B-level wind-type skill Eagle Eye Vision.
This was a passive skill that allowed the Falcon to clearly see subtle changes in the battlefield even while flying at high speed. Its effect was comparable to the Telekinetic Vision, letting it detect minute shifts in its surroundings.
It used Hot Wind in a unique way, wrapping the skill around itself to enhance its speed using its traits, creating a powerful physical impact.
Had Ellen not had the immortal pet with Undead, those two skill hits would have already rendered him incapable of continuing the fight.
With the skill enhancements from the Sunflame Pegasus, the high-tier combat species Gale Red Falcon now boasted combat strength far exceeding its racial limits. This was the charm of a double battle.
However, against the combination of the Bone Soldier and the Night Demon Scarecrow, Fel’s tactics were destined to be futile.
These two rounds of combat had been enough for Mu Huiyue to fully understand the battlefield. She no longer needed to test her opponent and directly launched an attack.
“Harvey, use Malicious Taunt!”
The Night Demon Scarecrow emitted a cold, rustling sound as the crows on its arms flapped their wings. The shrill, dry cawing echoed once more across the battlefield.
The Gale Red Falcon and the Sunflame Pegasus immediately displayed expressions of pure rage. Their minds were clouded by a fury so intense that they forgot everything, including their Beast Master’s commands. Both pets were now driven by the same overwhelming force.
The Night Demon Scarecrow must be eliminated immediately!!
The Sunflame Pegasus raised its front hooves high, its flowing mane burning fiercely, and charged forward with a blazing flame rush.
The Gale Red Falcon let out a sharp screech, wrapping itself in its Hot Wind skill. Fiery currents swirled ahead of it, forming a massive conical vortex of air.
Fel frowned. The forced taunt skill was a blatant scheme in the battlefield. If he couldn’t overcome this obstacle, he wouldn’t be able to win the battle.
Since he couldn’t change the target of the attack, he decided to take down the Night Demon Scarecrow first!
“Eleven, Fourteen, use the combined skill to attack!”
The Beast Master’s commands and the attack strategy were in perfect harmony, and both pets followed Fel’s plan.
“Kei kei—”
The Sunflame Pegasus folded its wings, and the Gale Red Falcon hovered above it. The effects of their skills blended together, forming an even larger conical high-temperature cyclone.
Hot Wind boosted the intensity and temperature of the Flame Rush, while Flame Rush in turn enhanced the Gale Red Falcon’s speed, with the two skills perfectly merging to geometrically amplify the power of their original abilities.
Fel smiled slightly. So what if there was a forced taunt? The Night Demon Scarecrow, with its wood attribute, was inherently weak to fire-based skills. There was no way it could withstand this ultimate combined skill.
“Go!”
The roaring conical flames transformed into a giant spear, charging forward to break through and directly struck the seemingly immobile Night Demon Scarecrow.
The searing heat erupted suddenly, causing the protective energy layer of the system to vibrate violently from the collision of the skills, producing a deep rumbling sound.
Under the fearful gazes of the spectators, the Night Demon Scarecrow’s figure was swallowed by the crimson flames, burning away completely.
The Sunflame Pegasus, having completed the thunderous strike, raised its front hooves high and let out a triumphant screech.
However, Fel’s expression did not show relief. The Night Demon Scarecrow had vanished during the combined charge. It was a high-level monarch-tier pet, not a real scarecrow. It was impossible for it to be burned down to nothing in such a short time.
Could it be…?
The Gale Red Falcon let out an alarmed call. With its Eagle Eye Vision, it had noticed the anomaly faster than the Sunflame Pegasus.
At the spot where the Night Demon Scarecrow had vanished, there was a small scarecrow, scorched and tattered, with only a few remnants of ash remaining.
Fel’s heart, which had been in suspense, sank into the depths.
B-class wood-type status skill: Scarecrow Substitute.
“This Dayan beastmaster has not only contracted the Night Demon Scarecrow but also the rarest and most dangerous type—one with the innate core ability [Scarecrow Substitute]!
At that moment, Mu Huiyue’s command rang out like a shadow lurking at the edge of the flames.
“Ellen, maximum power Bone Spike Assault!”
Shadows surged across the battlefield, and within the Sunflame Pegasus’s blind spot, the form of the Card Fang Soldier emerged. Its pale skeletal frame wielded a pitch-black bone blade, sharp and glimmering with a faint blue ghostly flame.
This was a Bone Spike Assault that had been enhanced by [Calcification] and [Nether Flame].
Dark energy flickered in Mu Huiyue’s eyes as massive power resonated through her bond with the Card Fang Soldier. The brilliance of the bone blade and the ghostly flame surged to their peak simultaneously.
Beastmaster Talent: Dark Attribute Enhancement—Battle Resonance!
Unlike the desolation of the “Withered Wasteland” before, the Night Demon Scarecrow now had the most reliable companion thanks to its bond with the beastmaster. Mu Huiyue wouldn’t waste the perfect offensive opportunity it had created. Without hesitation, she pushed all her chips forward.
The fully charged Bone Spike Assault struck directly at the Sunflame Pegasus, which had no time to dodge.
“Harvey, Crow Feather Storm.”
The Night Demon Scarecrow stood at the other end of the battlefield, gently swaying. No one had seen when it had reappeared there.”
“A fierce dark storm swept over the Sunflame Pegasus, which let out a harrowing screech from the devastating impact of the Bone Spike Assault.
Hit repeatedly by powerful dark-element skills that countered its light attribute, the Sunflame Pegasus could no longer hold on. With a mournful cry, it collapsed heavily to the ground.
Having lost its main force, the Swiftwind Red Falcon—a battle-grade, growth-stage beast—was no match for the Card Fang Soldier and the Night Demon Scarecrow.
Ellen and Harvey didn’t let up. While the Crow Feather Storm pinned down the Swiftwind Red Falcon, the Card Fang Soldier launched another shadow-cloaked assault. Its Bone Spike Assault struck its target with pinpoint precision.
It didn’t take more than two turns before the majestic flaming falcon was also overwhelmed and rendered incapable of further combat.
The referee stepped forward to check on both beasts and then raised the flag toward Mu Huiyue.
“The Sunflame Pegasus and Swiftwind Red Falcon have lost their ability to battle. The victory goes to the Card Fang Soldier and the Night Demon Scarecrow!”
“This match is won by Mu Huiyue!”
Mu Huiyue smiled and quickly walked toward her companions on the battlefield.
The Card Fang Soldier emerged from the shadows, extending its skeletal hand toward Mu Huiyue with a sense of camaraderie. The Night Demon Scarecrow, noticing the gesture, shifted its body slightly, angling the wooden post of its supporting arm toward the beastmaster.
The black-haired girl smiled and reached out both hands, giving a light high-five—one to the skeleton’s bony hand and one to the scarecrow’s wooden post. Two crisp sounds echoed through the arena.
“Well done, Ellen and Harvey!”“
