Chapter 73
Zhao Lu looked at her contracted beast on the desk.
It was a special light and divine mind system extraordinary creature, the Guiding Balance, capable of observing causality and laws.
It continued to rock the two arms of its scale in a regular pattern.
During her conversation with Mu Huiyue, and especially while she was deeply contemplating, the Guiding Balance remained unchanged as usual, without any unusual movements.
The Guiding Balance’s characteristic is its ability to detect the accuracy of things. In simple terms, when it detects events that severely violate logical rules, the Guiding Balance will always alert the beast master.
For example, if a client is hiding a lie during a consultation, if there are paradoxical clauses in a contract, or if there are logical errors in a defense argument… and so on.
However, when it came to Mu Yixia, the Guiding Balance showed no reaction.
This meant that from the Guiding Balance’s observation, both the conclusions that “Mu Yixia is an ordinary existence, like common knowledge” and “Mu Yixia’s existence is strange and problematic” were both reasonable.
But from a logical standpoint, these two conclusions were clearly contradictory and could never coexist.
Following Zhao Lu’s gaze, Mu Huiyue also looked at the Guiding Balance, and suddenly realized something.
For a fact that already exists, a cat cannot be both inside and outside the box, and Mu Yixia cannot be both reasonable and unreasonable.
She softly speculated, “Is it possible that something about Mu Yixia… could be affecting the Guiding Balance’s observations? Could there be an influence of that level?”
Zhao Lu pinched the bridge of her nose and spoke slowly, “An ultra-S-level space-time skill, or a law-interfering skill, could potentially do that.”
The reason why a few extraordinary beings from mythic races are regarded as gods is because they possess power on par with the realm of deities.
Mu Huiyue understood now. No wonder, all these years, no one had found Mu Yixia’s arrival strange.
The ultra-S-level space-time law skill that even the Guiding Balance couldn’t observe—she had probably caught a glimpse of it because her soul did not belong to this world.
“I will sort this out and report it to the Beast Master Association,” Zhao Lu said, looking up at her old friend’s daughter. “Don’t worry too much. Even if Mu Yixia is indeed affected by a space-time law, it may not necessarily be a bad thing.”
“Aisha would never send something dangerous your way.”
Upon hearing this, Mu Huiyue fell silent for a moment.
In her memories, Aisha was always smiling, a look that the past Mu Huiyue loved the most.
It was because she admired her mother’s free and powerful figure that the past Mu Huiyue had made up her mind to become an excellent Beast Master.
Even though Aisha had disappeared while exploring the secret realm and hadn’t returned for many years, Mu Huiyue treasured the memories of her deeply and never harbored any feelings of resentment.
“I understand. Thank you, Lawyer Zhao.” Mu Huiyue nodded at her.
…
After the meeting at the law firm, Mu Huiyue returned to the headquarters building of the Secret Realm Affairs Countermeasures Bureau.
She spent the entire journey thinking about Lawyer Zhao’s words and the bizarre yet crystal-clear dream she had last night.
Back in her temporary dormitory, Mu Huiyue adjusted her wristband to communication mode and opened the contact window for Su Luo.
The signal quickly connected, and a semi-transparent projection appeared above the wristband. Her direct superior was slurping down a bowl of instant noodles, and upon seeing Mu Huiyue, he froze for a moment before putting down the bowl of noodles.
“Ahem… Huiyue? Is there something you need?”
“Minister Su Luo, are you in your office? I have some matters I’d like to discuss with you in person,” Mu Huiyue said.
After careful consideration, Mu Huiyue decided to speak with Su Luo.
Both the strange dream and Mu Yixia’s situation were beyond her ability to handle. She needed the help of the Bureau of Affairs, and Su Luo was a trusted and powerful Beast Master.
“Mm, I’m here. Just come on up,” Su Luo nodded, finishing the last bit of soup in his noodle bowl before casually placing it aside.
The cleanliness-loving white tiger immediately showed a look of disdain, sweeping the empty noodle bowl into the trash can with its tail.
Mu Huiyue left and took the elevator to the 22nd floor, heading to the deputy minister’s office.
This time, the office was much tidier. There were no scattered papers flying around, and at least there was a seat available.
The Su Luo, who had just been showing off his instant noodles, was now neatly dressed in the proper attire for a deputy minister, sitting at his desk and gesturing for Mu Huiyue to take a seat.
The illusionary white tiger, now reduced to the size of a normal tiger, lay lazily by the floor-to-ceiling windows behind her, yawning.
Mu Huiyue thought back to the projection of the white tiger she had seen in her dream and took out the talisman Su Luo had given her earlier from the Beast Master space.
The runes on it had changed at some point and now appeared completely hollow.
Su Luo took the talisman and froze for a moment.
The energy that contained the full-force strike of the Miracle Fantasy Race’s complete form, the White Tiger, had already disappeared.
This was not energy that could be casually released. During the battle against the Furious Rock Xuanwu on the deserted island, Su Luo hadn’t even used his full strength, yet the aftershocks had already destroyed most of the island.
Moreover, Mu Huiyue was in the heart of Jingjiang City. If such a massive disturbance had occurred within the city, it would surely have caused panic among the people, and the Bureau of Affairs would have received news about it.
Where exactly was she, and how did she silently release the energy from the White Tiger talisman without a trace?
Mu Huiyue detailed everything that had happened in the dream.
When Su Luo heard about the combined form of the White Tiger projection striking down the mechanical Analos, he glanced at the blank talisman in his hand.
The projection in the dream had consumed the energy stored in the talisman in reality?
In reality, even if she fused with the White Tiger and used all her strength, it would be impossible for her to strike down the Guardian of Nova District in a single blow.
There was only one possibility: the mechanical Analos was also a projection from the dream, and the projection created by the White Tiger talisman contained real energy. That was what allowed it to break through its limits and complete the counterattack.
Su Luo thought carefully for a moment before once again taking out the peculiar projection device.
The white tiger, which had been lying down, opened its eyes at the sound and looked in the direction of the Beast Master. Its pupils contracted into thin slits.
The light in the office immediately dimmed, and in the darkness, the only sound was the buzzing of the projection device.
Mu Huiyue saw the projection of an extraordinary creature appear in the center. It had a pink, elliptical, semi-transparent body, with four short transparent fins underneath, looking like a squishy jelly.
Unlike the bright, sparkling eyes in the dream, the creature in the projection had its eyes closed, peacefully sleeping, as if it were in a beautiful dream.
“Is the creature you saw in the dream this one?” Su Luo asked.
Mu Huiyue slowly nodded and looked at the encyclopedia on her investigator wristband.
Name: Ruomeng
Attribute: Spirit-type
Race Level: Legendary Fantasy
Core Talent: Dream Transformation (Spirit-type S-rank)
Race Introduction: Special race record, access level A. Encyclopedia information not disclosed.
A Legendary Fantasy race that requires A-level access to view the encyclopedia…?
Mu Huiyue slowly widened her eyes. After being an investigator for over half a year, this was the first time she had encountered something like this.
Fantasy races are a higher-tier existence than Imperial races, divided into Miracle Fantasy and Legendary Fantasy types.
Miracle Fantasy refers to extraordinary creatures like the White Tiger, which evolve into fantasy races after experiencing various fortuitous events, starting from lower-tier species and triggering miracles along the way.
On the other hand, Legendary Fantasy races are extraordinary and extremely rare beings that possess S-level or even super-S-level core talent skills from birth.
They have no bottlenecks in their growth stages. Over time, they naturally reach their complete form and ultimate state.
The main difference between Legendary Fantasy races and mythological races, which serve as guardians, is their racial uniqueness.
Mythological races are unique individuals that cannot be contracted, while Fantasy races have the possibility of fighting alongside Beast Masters. There have been instances of other individuals from the same race appearing in history.
The encyclopedia records Ruomeng, indicating that before Mu Huiyue, others in history had encountered Ruomeng, and there were even records of contracting with it.
“So it really is Ruomeng…” Su Luo rarely showed a hint of surprise as she looked at the black-haired girl.
“Ruomeng is the most unique dream creature. To it, both dreams and reality are real.”
Su Luo thought for a moment. She wasn’t very good at explaining these specialized Beast Master knowledge, so she tried to express it in simple, easy-to-understand terms.
“Simply put, the events that happen in dreams are real for Ruomeng. The dream you experienced with it, in Ruomeng’s case, is a real escape.”
“If it gets caught by the ‘Dream Creature Technology’ people, would Ruomeng really be trapped there?” Mu Huiyue frowned slightly.
No wonder the little one wanted to go to the “exit.” She wondered how it ended up in that cyber dream…
“Yes, because of this trait, Ruomeng doesn’t dream itself. It can only obtain energy from other creatures’ dreams.”
“In its current stage, Ruomeng can only travel through different dreams, influencing the world within them. In reality, it’s more like an ordinary spirit-type extraordinary creature.”
Su Luo paused for a moment before continuing, “What makes it a Legendary Fantasy race is the S-rank skill called ‘Dream Transformation.’ This is an ‘Evolution Skill.'”
“Evolution Skill?” This was the first time Mu Huiyue had heard of such a skill classification.
“After contracting with Ruomeng, it will use ‘Dream Transformation’ in the Beast Master’s dream to complete its evolution.”
“After evolution, the race, traits, and core talent skills will be born based on the content of the dream. And theoretically, there is no upper limit.”
Mu Huiyue looked at Su Luo, wondering what she meant by “no upper limit.”
Su Luo said, “You know the Arcadia region, right? It’s a kingdom located in the Eastern Sea, and its civilization is from the same source as that of the Hela region. But the distance between them spans across the entire Eastern Sea and the Eastern continent. At the time, with the level of technology, it was impossible to migrate such a large distance.”
Mu Huiyue nodded. She had learned about the Arcadia region in history class. It was a land that had suddenly appeared, and most scholars believed it was a large-scale secret realm that merged with the planet after it descended.
However, after the fusion period, a large secret realm with the same civilization as the distant Hela region was illogical when carefully considered.
“That land is actually an evolved ‘Ruomeng.'”
Mu Huiyue’s eyes widened slightly.
“The creation legend of Arcadia is true. The first monarch, Lilith Far, was a Hela person who got stranded during the war era.”
Su Luo recalled, “She spent her life searching for the homeland she remembered from her childhood, hoping for a peaceful and prosperous land where everyone could live in peace and harmony.”
“Ruomeng’s ‘One Thought Creates Dreams’ fulfilled her obsession in the dream, evolving into the super S-level Earth system skill, Heavenly Extremes Land. The Arcadia region appeared overnight and has maintained its original appearance to this day.”
“This is the first recorded appearance of a ‘Ruomeng’ in human history.”
Su Luo paused for a moment. “And during the Yuan Dynasty period of the Great Yan, do you remember King Xia, Jing Heng?”
“One of the pioneers of the Yuan Dynasty 600 years ago, he raised an army in his homeland during the Beast Chaos and, alongside the Sun God, Huang, resisted the secret realm natural disasters, eventually unifying the Great Yan as a legendary emperor.”
Mu Huiyue, a top student in all subjects, answered without hesitation.
“Legend has it that in his later years, King Xia, Jing Heng, became obsessed with the art of immortality, using the country’s resources to search for the mythical beast that could grant eternal life, only to be overthrown by his own descendants…”
“That’s right.” Su Luo stroked his chin. “But actually, Jing Heng is still alive… even now.”
