Chapter 10 – All Men Are Pigs. Did You Two Kiss or What?

The next morning, sunlight filtered quietly through the intricately carved window, casting a gentle glow over the antique-styled room.

On the canopy bed, Xiao Jingrui’s arm was securely wrapped around Yun Ruoxi. The two were still sound asleep.

Curled up in his arms, Yun Ruoxi was sleeping especially sweetly.

Moments later, she stirred slightly. Her thick eyelashes trembled as she slowly opened her eyes.

The first thing she saw was Xiao Jingrui’s astonishingly handsome face—sharp brows, starry eyes, a tall nose bridge… it looked like the masterpiece of some divine sculptor.

Once fully awake and realizing that the man before her was now her husband, a faint joy bloomed in her heart, and the corners of her lips involuntarily lifted in a smile.

She had always been weak to beautiful things—she fully admitted that her “values followed her senses.”

Looking at the peacefully sleeping Xiao Jingrui beside her now, she felt this marriage didn’t seem so hard to accept after all.

But… she was puzzled. When exactly did she end up in his arms last night?

Then again, staring at his charming face, it didn’t seem all that important anymore.

Xiao Jingrui’s upper body was bare, his firm muscles highlighted by the sunlight. Yun Ruoxi’s gaze wandered over the defined muscles of his arms, and she grew curious—her seemingly delicate husband, just how well-built was he?

The thought made her feel a little giddy. Since he wasn’t awake yet… maybe she could sneak a touch?

No sooner had the idea crossed her mind than her hand seemed to act on its own, slowly reaching for Xiao Jingrui’s abdomen.

“One… two…”

She counted softly. By the time she got to eight, she was inwardly amazed.

Her young, freshly acquired husband had such a spectacular set of abs—this body was definitely a win.

Thinking of her future married life, she actually started to look forward to it a little.

Suddenly, a large hand grabbed her mischievous little hand, and a low male voice whispered by her ear:
“Feels good?”

“Yeah…” she blurted out instinctively, only to realize something was wrong the moment she spoke—that was a man’s voice!

She jerked her head up, only to meet Xiao Jingrui’s deep, abyss-like eyes. There was a teasing glint in them, along with something she couldn’t quite decipher.

“You misunderstood, I wasn’t… I didn’t…” she stammered in panic. But the more she tried to explain, the more tangled it got, so she gave up and clamped her mouth shut.

Xiao Jingrui looked at his flustered little wife, utterly tongue-tied and nervous, and couldn’t help but find her irresistibly adorable. A mischievous thought rose in him as he sighed deliberately,
“No matter how you look at it, I still feel like I lost out.”

“What do you want then?” Yun Ruoxi asked, bracing herself. She’d already touched him—there was no undoing it. Besides, if given the chance again, she’d probably still reach out.

Before she could think too much, Xiao Jingrui leaned in slowly. His warm breath brushed her cheeks, and then… his lips gently landed on hers.

Yun Ruoxi’s eyes widened instantly. Her mind went blank. Staring at his magnified handsome face up close, she suddenly remembered how, in her past life, she had always kept her distance from men.

Xiao Jingrui pulled away after just a brief kiss, but Yun Ruoxi felt oddly unsatisfied.
“That’s it?” she blurted out.

As soon as the words left her lips, she saw a dangerous glint flash in his eyes.

“So my wife is quite eager for our wedding night,” he said with a smirk. “I was planning to let you rest, considering how tired you’ve been. But since you’re so impatient, I suppose I’ll just have to reluctantly oblige.”

Startled, Yun Ruoxi bolted upright like a frightened bunny, quickly trying to wriggle out of his arms. “You misunderstood, that’s not what I meant!”

All the pink bubbles that had just floated up burst immediately under his teasing words. She couldn’t help but curse silently in her heart—Men really are pigs!
Though she’d conveniently forgotten it was she who started it.

Xiao Jingrui leaned lazily against the bedframe, a subtle, unreadable smile tugging at his lips, clearly with no intention of getting up.

“Aren’t you going to get out of bed?” Yun Ruoxi finally asked.

Xiao Jingrui crossed his arms and gave her a meaningful look.
“I already told the servants not to disturb us today. Why don’t you sleep in a little longer, dear wife?”

Yun Ruoxi froze mid-motion, full of suspicion.
What does he mean by that?

Could it really be what she was thinking?

But judging by Xiao Jingrui’s usual demeanor, he didn’t seem like someone who would make jokes like that… She told herself over and over to stay calm—don’t fall for a pretty face.

She had originally slept on the inner side of the bed for a sense of security, but now Xiao Jingrui had her blocked on the outer edge, making it difficult to even get out.

But if there was ever a time not to show weakness—it was now.

Carefully, she tried climbing over his legs to escape.

Just as she was about to make it past him, a pair of strong hands suddenly wrapped around her waist and gave a gentle press.

She fell forward—right onto Xiao Jingrui’s bare chest.

“Since my wife insists on throwing herself into my arms, how could I possibly refuse?” he said with a devilish grin.

Xiao Jingrui chuckled and tightened his arms around her, holding her even closer.

At that moment, Yun Ruoxi finally understood—this “bargain husband” of hers was actually a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

She struggled hard, trying to push him away, but the difference in strength between a man and a woman was too great. No matter how many times she tried, it was useless.

Then, with one hand supporting her back, Xiao Jingrui suddenly flipped them over, pinning her beneath him in an instant.

Before she could even cry out in protest, his lips captured hers again. This time, the kiss was far more aggressive, demanding, and relentless—slowly breaking through her defenses.

Only after a long while did Xiao Jingrui finally let go, reluctantly releasing her. He leaned close to her ear and murmured,
“No rush. We’ve got all the time in the world.”

Yun Ruoxi’s heart pounded like a drum. Her face burned hot, her mind a mess. She wanted to say something, but no words would come, so she could only keep her lips tightly sealed.

Just then, Mu Ruxue’s voice came from outside the door.

Xiao Jingrui’s brows furrowed instantly. Clearly, he was not pleased by this unexpected interruption.

Yun Ruoxi, however, felt as if she’d just been saved. She quickly called out,
Xiao Xue, we’re up!”

Without sparing a glance at Xiao Jingrui’s darkening expression, she hurriedly slipped out of bed and past him.

Her clothes from the night before were wrinkled from sleep. She quickly ducked behind the screen and changed into a plain, elegant outfit. Her hair was still unkempt, falling loosely over her shoulders, but it gave her a refreshing, ethereal charm—like a lotus blooming from water.

Opening the door, she slipped out as if she’d been granted amnesty and followed Mu Ruxue toward the guest room.

On closer look, Mu Ruxue’s outfit actually bore some resemblance to hers.

The two exchanged a glance and instantly understood each other—clearly, they both had a lot to talk about.

As soon as they stepped into the guest room, they locked the door behind them.

“Oh my god! My husband looks all weak and scholarly, but turns out he’s got an eight-pack! And he’s such a flirt—I nearly lost control. Thank goodness I came to my senses in time,” Mu Ruxue said excitedly.

She looked Yun Ruoxi up and down with curiosity.
“What about yours? He always has that cold face. Is his temper bad?”

“Didn’t really feel that… Seems okay, I guess?” Yun Ruoxi replied with some hesitation. After all, they hadn’t known each other long, and she still didn’t have a clear read on him.

That’s when Mu Ruxue noticed how flushed Yun Ruoxi’s face was when she’d come out of the room—and couldn’t help but press,
“So what were you two doing in there just now?”

Yun Ruoxi stammered, unable to come up with a proper answer.

Mu Ruxue’s eyes lit up as she leaned in and asked teasingly,
“Did you kiss?”

Yun Ruoxi blushed and nodded.

“And… you touched his abs?”

Yun Ruoxi nodded again.

Mu Ruxue gasped in admiration.
“Damn girl! You’re bold! Way to represent all of us—women rising up!”

Then Yun Ruoxi suddenly remembered something and asked,
“Why’d you sneak out so early?”

“Ah… I, uh, just needed some fresh air this morning.” Mu Ruxue’s eyes darted away, clearly guilty.

“Come on, drop the act. Spill it. How far did you two go?”

“About the same as you…” Mu Ruxue muttered, her face instantly turning red.

Yun Ruoxi grinned and teased,
“Didn’t you say you didn’t care? Still feel that way now?”

“Still don’t. Men aren’t as important as besties,” Mu Ruxue shot back stubbornly.

But Yun Ruoxi knew her too well. Mu Ruxue might act carefree, but she was actually sensitive and sentimental—she just didn’t dare face her own feelings.

“So far, Xiao Jingrui seems pretty decent. Since we’re already here, let’s settle in and survive first. One step at a time.”

Mu Ruxue thought for a moment, then gave a small nod in agreement.

Just then, a servant’s voice called out from outside. The two women exchanged a look, got up, and opened the door to see what was going on.
