Chapter 33: Then Offend Me
The door was knocked twice, and the doctor who was already resting was hurriedly called up. He quickly helped Shuangxu deal with the wound that had been cut by metal, applied medicine, and injected her with a tetanus shot.
“Be careful not to get the wound infected,” the doctor instructed. “Try not to let it get wet until it heals.”
Shuangxu nodded in agreement.
After finishing, the doctor looked at He Tingzhou, then at her, and subtly probed, “Should we tell Young Master Shen about this?”
He thought it was He Tingzhou who did it.
Shuangxu was all wet, wrapped in a bath towel, obviously having been in the water, and her foot was injured like this, it was obvious he hadn’t done anything good.
You know, this bastard.
He dared not offend either side. If he told him, he was afraid He Tingzhou would hold it against him; if he didn’t, tomorrow when Shen Yu found out, he might hold him accountable.
He Tingzhou’s tone was indifferent, “It’s up to her.”
In the past, when someone bullied her, Shuangxu would immediately go to Shen Yu in a pitiful way.
But now, even she herself began to doubt whether she was a burden to Shen Yu.
Taking his fiancée out to sea for a vacation, his good mood was about to be ruined by her.
Shen Yu would definitely not let this go. If he stood up for her again when they went back, he would probably fall out with the Zheng family.
If she wasn’t there, things would be much simpler.
Shuangxu unconsciously picked at her nails, “I’ll tell him tomorrow.”
She didn’t know if Lu Manman was really in Shen Yu’s room, she couldn’t just go knock on the door and disturb him.
The suite was on the same floor. Returning to her room from the infirmary, Shuangxu and He Tingzhou walked through the carpeted corridor one after the other.
When she reached the door, she stopped, turned around and said to He Tingzhou, “Tingzhou ge, you don’t have to mind what I said before, I have no right to get angry at you. I may have inadvertently offended you during this time, I’m sorry, I won’t do it again.”
She didn’t wait for He Tingzhou’s reaction, she went in and closed the door.
She was very polite, even respectful, not at all like the unrestrained way she had called him “You’re the toad” before.
She was very comfortable in front of people she was close to, loved to laugh, and would act spoiled, like when she was with Shen Yu before.
She was not at all like the aloofness she showed towards him, who wished he could draw a silver river with the Queen Mother’s hairpin.
She was like a turtle that had always used its shell to protect itself, and only when it felt safe would it slowly and tentatively extend its head and claws. Once it was pricked, it would immediately retract, taking its shell and rolling away.
As soon as Shuangxu entered the room, she heard the door being knocked twice.
She turned back and opened the door slightly.
“Princess, you have a pretty bad temper,” He Tingzhou leaned against the door frame with his arms crossed, and asked directly, “Which sentence are you angry about?”
Shuangxu was baffled, “What do you mean?”
“I mean, the sentence about your love not being precious, or the sentence about you having a pitiful face?” He Tingzhou asked.
She didn’t say anything.
He Tingzhou had never reflected on his own words and actions in his life. After thinking back for a long time, putting aside the certain unpleasant emotions at the time, even he himself felt that he was a jerk.
“Was it the sentence about me asking you to confess to your brother?”
Shuangxu didn’t understand what he was playing at again, she held the doorknob and said, “What are you trying to do?”
“I take back everything I said tonight,” He Tingzhou looked down at her, “Is that okay?”
His eyes were actually serious, which made Shuangxu both surprised and confused.
She looked at He Tingzhou for a few seconds, then looked away and said, “No need. You were just saying what you felt.”
“Who said so,” He Tingzhou argued, “Can you read my mind? How do you know I wasn’t being hypocritical?”
Shuangxu really thought he was strange. He had said all the hurtful things, and now he wanted to take them back.
“Whatever,” she didn’t want to delve into it or pay attention to it.
She could feel He Tingzhou’s gaze on her, “If you have nothing else, I’m going to close the door.”
He Tingzhou stretched out his hand to hold the door panel that she wanted to close, “Explain yourself, what are you making a fuss about? How can I coax you if you don’t tell me?”
How could he be so kind as to coax her? Probably because he saw her cry and was afraid she would tell Shen Yu tomorrow.
“You don’t have to coax me, and I’m not making a fuss.”
She was just recognizing her own identity, putting herself in her place in the future, and not treating herself as an onion anymore.
Standing close, He Tingzhou was a head taller than her, he looked down at her lightly, “I insist on coaxing you.”
“Don’t tease me anymore,” Shuangxu said, “I’m really not angry with you.”
He Tingzhou looked at her intently, as if judging her.
After a few seconds, “Then offend me.”
“…”
What a bizarre request.
Shuangxu just wanted to draw a line with him in the future, she didn’t want to get entangled with him, He Tingzhou was blocking the door and she couldn’t close it, so she could only endure and say:
“I won’t offend you again, just pretend today never happened.”
“I don’t like to carry things overnight, if you want to make a fuss, do it tonight.” He Tingzhou domineeringly gave her a choice, “You offend me, or I coax you until you’re not angry.”
Shuangxu was really tired, and he made her very speechless, what kind of person is he?
Her temper was aroused, she pressed her hands against his chest and pushed him out forcefully, “I don’t want to talk to you now. I’m going to rest, bye!”
He Tingzhou lowered his head to look at her hands, and stepped back obediently according to her strength.
The door closed in front of him, and the person inside muttered softly, “He’s got a problem.”
After all the tossing and turning tonight, even if she wasn’t tired, Shuangxu was mentally exhausted. She lay down on the bed and quickly fell asleep.
Probably because she caught a chill, and also because she had been in the sea breeze, she developed a high fever in the middle of the night, her whole body burning hot.
She slept in a daze until morning, when she was woken up by knocking, her head was splitting. She got out of bed and went to open the door.
Passing by the mirror, she saw that her whole body was unusually red.
Lu Manman stood at the door, full of energy: “Morning.”
“Morning.” Shuangxu’s legs felt weak.
“Ayu is taking me snorkeling later, are you coming?” Lu Manman asked, “He said you won a prize for swimming, you’re also very good at snorkeling.”
Shuangxu shook her head, her head feeling heavy and painful.
Lu Manman noticed her pale complexion and reached out to touch her forehead: “Wow, your forehead is burning hot, how could you have a fever this bad? Wait here, I’ll go get a doctor for you.”
The doctor came over and took her temperature, leaving her with some fever medicine. Lu Manman stood by her bed and said, “You won’t be able to go like this.”
“I won’t go, you guys have fun.”
Her eyes couldn’t open, and after a while, she heard the door close, Lu Manman had left.
She was burning with fever, sweating profusely, every bone and nerve ached terribly, she couldn’t sleep soundly, her brows were tightly furrowed, she curled up clutching the blanket.
In her hazy state, she felt a gentle hand brushing away the strands of hair damp with sweat from her temples, gently stroking her cheek.
She tried to open her eyes, her fevered mind was a little unclear, she couldn’t tell if it was reality or a dream.
“Brother…”
Shen Yu sat by the bed, his fingertip touched her burning eyelids, his voice was very low: “Sleep, Xiao Jiu.”
In the comforting sound, Shuangxu closed her eyes again and fell into a deep sleep.
The fever medicine took effect, and when she opened her eyes again, she felt a little clearer.
There was no one by the bed, the suite was quiet as if no one had ever been there.
She remembered that Shen Yu was going to take Lu Manman snorkeling today. Lu Manman was very excited about her first snorkeling experience before coming here.
They must have already left.
