“Beyond the Boundaries” Chapter 4

Chapter 4: My Dear Sister

The few people at the front desk fell silent at the same time, Chen Peiran standing beside her, staring intently.

The man’s voice came through the phone clearly, the faint electric current making it sound magnetic and slightly frivolous, which Shuangxu couldn’t help but misinterpret.

“Who is this, my dear sister?”

“…”

What the heck, if this wasn’t Yundun’s company phone, Shuangxu would have suspected a wrong number.

She discreetly covered the receiver and turned her back.

Xiao Liao immediately “understood” and dragged Chen Peiran away, saying loudly, “Mr. Chen, it’s so uncultured to eavesdrop on someone’s phone call!”

People around looked over, Chen Peiran’s expression a little awkward, he shook her off, “What are you shouting for?”

Shuangxu said into the phone, “I’m Song Shuangxu.”

The other side: “Send what?”

The hope in Shuangxu’s heart, “Maybe he’ll help out for the sake of an acquaintance,” was dashed.

She didn’t expect He Tingzhou to even remember her name, so she had no choice but to bring up Shen Yu.

“Shuangxu,” she enunciated clearly, “Shen Yu’s sister.”

“Looking for your brother?” The man still had that nonchalant tone, not remotely friendly, “He’s not with me.”

Shuangxu: “I’m looking for… you.”

Silence on the other end of the phone lasted for three seconds.

He Tingzhou’s voice was light and lazy: “Wait.”

Five minutes later, He Tingzhou’s personal assistant came down to pick her up, respectfully inviting Shuangxu into the elevator: “Miss Song, this way please.”

Chen Peiran’s face was beyond ugly.

Xiao Liao didn’t expect her to actually succeed, hope flared up from despair: “You really know Mr. He? Then we’re sure to win this time!”

“Don’t pop the champagne before the game is over,” Shuangxu whispered, covering her mouth with her hand, “I… don’t know him very well.”

He Tingzhou only saw Shuangxu alone, Xiao Liao could only stay in the lobby, watching the elevator doors close with longing eyes.

The bright metal door frame reflected Chen Peiran’s tense and distorted expression, a stark contrast to his previous confident arrogance.

She was immediately elated.

“Mr. Chen, your face looks so bad, angry is angry, don’t get sick from anger, hahahaha.”

Chen Peiran glared at her, ignoring the verbal battle, anxiously pulled out her phone and whispered, “Find out for me, who exactly is Song Shuangxu.”

He didn’t expect He Tingzhou to actually see her.

Chenxing had spent so much effort to get in touch with Yundun Group through a middle manager, he had been to Yundun so many times, and the person he had been in contact with was a small leader in the technical development department, he hadn’t even seen a single hair of He Tingzhou.

If she really knew He Tingzhou, wouldn’t Chenxing’s cooperation with Yundun be over?!

Shuangxu herself was not so sure.

He Tingzhou was Shen Yu’s friend, logically, with Shen Yu’s relationship, this small liquid hydrogen drone contract should be a piece of cake.

But among Shen Yu’s group of friends, Shuangxu had the least contact with and was most afraid of He Tingzhou.

Her few impressions of He Tingzhou were: bad.

Reaching the top floor’s president’s office, the assistant who led the way knocked on the door, a cold voice came from inside: “Come in.”

Very different from the one on the phone just now.

The assistant pushed open the door and made a gesture of invitation politely.

Shuangxu took a deep breath, her bangs blowing up and falling back down. She steadied herself and stepped in.

He Tingzhou’s office was a cold black and gray color scheme, the hard lines and metallic feel announced the owner’s impassiveness.

She didn’t expect there to be others inside.

Several men in suits were sitting around the reception area, no wonder Shuangxu saw He Tingzhou first, he was too prominent among them.

Unlike Shen Yu’s gentle elegance, He Tingzhou’s whole face had strong bone structure, thick eyebrows, deep eyes, a high nose bridge, handsome in a very aggressive way.

He sat on the black leather sofa facing the floor-to-ceiling window, broad shoulders straight, hard and wide lines narrowing at the waist, down to long legs encased in black trousers.

When the door opened, he lifted his eyes and swept over her.

Those eyes were sharp and narrow, just one glance, and Shuangxu felt an overwhelming sense of pressure.

He Tingzhou’s gaze swept over her and passed, seemingly casual, probably hadn’t even seen what she looked like now.

Shuangxu didn’t understand why he let her in when he was talking to people.

She wisely sat down not far away, closing her ears and not eavesdropping.

After waiting for almost twenty minutes, the conversation on the other side ended, and after everyone left, Shuangxu got up and walked towards the reception area.

He Tingzhou sat in his original position, looking down at documents, as if he had forgotten about her.

Shuangxu knew that this bit of time was also borrowed from Shen Yu’s face, so she explained her purpose while he was reviewing documents.

He Tingzhou didn’t even raise his head, the pen rubbed against the paper, making a rustling sound.

His fingers were long and strong, the pen strokes were vigorous, the sound was sometimes light, sometimes heavy, like clouds and dragons.

Shuangxu briefly described the latest progress of Feixue’s liquid hydrogen drone project, halfway through, she found that He Tingzhou’s attention had shifted from the documents to her at some point.

The open blue folder lay on his knees, he propped his chin with his fingers, staring at her intently.

Those eyes were sharp in shape, the pupils were a deep black.

Shuangxu couldn’t tell if he was listening intently or spacing out.

“The liquid hydrogen drone project is something Feixue has spent two years developing, Chenxing’s way of getting the research results is not exactly fair, because the two founders had a disagreement…”

“Couples fighting is not my business.” He Tingzhou finally spoke.

“I want the technology, not their love child, whether the child takes the father’s surname or the mother’s surname doesn’t matter–>>

“There’s a difference.”

Shuangxu Order said calmly, “Shu Yang is a graduate student in aircraft design and engineering, Chen Peiran studies finance, and the technical core of Feixue’s R&D department has always been Shu Yang. More important than technology is the talent who masters the technology.”

She paused, “Since Mr. He has been paying attention to this project for so long, he should trust Shu Yang’s abilities.”

He Tingzhou raised an eyebrow, “You’re not calling me ‘Brother Tingzhou’ anymore?”

Shuangxu Order thought to herself, you don’t even remember me.

“…Brother Tingzhou.” She changed her words.

He Tingzhou stared at her thoughtfully for a few seconds, “Why do you have to come here to pull strings for Feixue’s matter?”

Shuangxu Order wanted to say she wasn’t specifically here to pull strings, she was just a temporary replacement, and she hadn’t considered this aspect beforehand.

But then she thought, if the relationship could be established, it would be a good outcome if she could help Shu Yang.

“Shu Yang is my senior, she’s currently in the hospital and can’t come in person, I’m here on her behalf.”

“You’re the first one to come to me through the back door.” He Tingzhou seemed amused, straightening up, “I can set a precedent for you.”

“If Chenxing wants to sign under the same conditions, they can schedule a meeting with the secretary themselves.”

Shuangxu Order frowned, “The conditions Chenxing offered are almost like giving it to you for free, just to get in line with Yun Dun Group. Anyway, this project belongs to Feixue, they don’t need to pay anything to get it, it’s costless. But it’s different for Feixue, they’ve invested a lot of money and effort into this project.”

If they gave it to Yun Dun for free, wouldn’t the past two years be wasted?

Shuangxu Order tried to negotiate with him, “Can we talk about the conditions again…”

Before she could finish, He Tingzhou’s lips curled into a meaningful smile.

His black shirt was unbuttoned at the top two buttons, and this smile made him less like a group president and more like a dissolute and mischievous young master.

The pen spun between He Tingzhou’s fingers, his voice was lazy and seductive:

“Little princess, you don’t have that much influence with me.”
