Chapter 54: Be Good. I’ll Reward You
Shuangxu didn’t take the driver, she walked along the clean, straight asphalt road after leaving the Shen residence.
Passing by the Song residence, she saw the imposing villa from afar.
The brightly lit house stood against the night sky. She had lived there for a while as a child, but she didn’t have any good memories.
When she passed by the garden, she paused briefly, looking through the fence at the corner where she used to sit.
Now it was empty, only meticulously cultivated flowers and plants.
She had never looked inside from this angle. Did Shen Yu see her from here back then?
A child sitting silently there every day must have been strange.
The house was lively. She heard that Grandpa had been discharged from the hospital, but she hadn’t gone to see him again.
A maid hurried past the garden. Seeing her standing by the fence, she looked surprised: “Miss Shuangxu? What are you doing there?”
“Passing by.” Shuangxu said and was about to leave.
The maid said, “Aren’t you coming in? The Director is back today, and the old master is home too.”
Shuangxu didn’t stop: “Then I won’t disturb their reunion.”
She went to the hospital to see Shu Yang. As she reached the ward, she heard Shu Yang say in a solemn tone: “This must not be known to Shuangxu, do you hear me?”
Xiao Liao solemnly agreed: “Don’t worry, I won’t leak a single word.”
Shuangxu pushed open the door abruptly.
She saw the two of them sitting cross-legged on the bed facing each other, with a large pot of fiery red crayfish on the movable table in the middle, and four hands covered in disposable gloves.
As the door opened, the two of them turned their heads, their mouths full of oil, sucking on the crayfish, and froze at the same time.
In the silent and quiet air of the ward, the tempting aroma of spicy and fragrant crayfish wafted.
“…”
Shuangxu said expressionlessly: “I came at a bad time, didn’t I?”
Shu Yang immediately pointed at Xiao Liao with the crayfish head in his hand: “It was her who seduced me, I just made a mistake that everyone in the world would make. Buying this bad thing, crayfish, to the hospital, what is your intention!”
Xiao Liao almost jumped up: “You were the one who said you were going to get depressed eating hospital food, so I brought you something that would make you happy!”
“I told you to bring it, you really brought it? You should have stopped me from going astray.”
“Who threatened to fire me?”
The two accomplices turned around and started attacking each other to shirk responsibility.
Shuangxu closed the door and walked over as they argued. The two of them tacitly protected the basin at the same time.
“Since it’s already bought, it would be a waste of food to throw it away.”
“She doesn’t eat it, I can eat it, I can eat three basins by myself.”
Shuangxu pulled up a chair and sat down: “Are there any more gloves?”
Xiao Liao immediately handed her a pair of gloves. Shu Yang asked tentatively, suspiciously, and cautiously: “Are you really letting me eat it?”
“It’s not my body that’s injured.” Shuangxu put on the gloves gracefully. “Chen Peiran’s case hasn’t gone to court yet, but it doesn’t matter, if you can’t hold on until then, I can burn the verdict to you.”
“…” Shu Yang reluctantly took off the gloves. “I won’t eat it! I have to live longer than him.”
The crayfish became Shuangxu’s meal. Shu Yang took out two bottles of hidden beer from the cabinet and opened them for them.
Shuangxu glanced over and said with a pained expression: “Just these two bottles! You two are getting a bargain.”
Shuangxu had left without dinner, and she was really hungry now. Xiao Liao ordered the spicy flavor, she couldn’t actually eat spicy food, but she still buried her head and ate, her taste buds were stimulated by the pain and pleasure.
Shu Yang leaned against the headboard and nibbled on a cucumber. After nibbling for a while, he suddenly asked, “Are you in a bad mood?”
Xiao Liao raised her oily face: “I’m in a good mood!”
“Eat yours, you idiot.” Shu Yang looked at Shuangxu, but Shuangxu didn’t even look up.
After a while, she said irrelevantly: “I’ve researched the information of several liquid hydrogen system suppliers. There’s a company in Lincheng called Huifeng Technology that does small and medium-sized liquid hydrogen tanks and liquid hydrogen refueling systems. Their person in charge is also very interested in cooperation and invited me to Lincheng to attend the Hydrogen Energy Development Summit next week.”
“Go. You little workaholic.” Shu Yang said, “How insightful I am, I dug you, this treasure, out.”
Shuangxu smiled and said while peeling the crayfish shell: “Cherish me, or you’ll regret it when you lose me.”
Shuangxu took the afternoon flight to Lincheng on Wednesday.
She brought the company’s technical god with her on the business trip. Xiao Liao was left in Yancheng to be Shu Yang’s exclusive meal supervisor.
The weather in Lincheng was good, with clear skies. When she got off the plane at the airport, she saw a private plane landing at the same time through the glass of the gangway.
The cabin door opened, and a tall and neat figure walked down the gangway, dressed in black clothes and black pants, his legs were strikingly long, he was wearing sunglasses, and his steps were lazy as he walked down.
She was too far away to see clearly, but she felt that the aura was a bit like He Tingzhou.
Shuangxu first took the god to the hotel to check in. The company’s business trip standard was not high, she booked two executive suites at her own expense.
While checking in at the front desk, the god carried his backpack and said embarrassedly: “President Song, how can you let you spend money.”
“What’s there to be embarrassed about, you are the treasure of Feixue, your worth is more than just this executive suite.”
The god blushed slightly, Shuangxu smiled: “Let’s go.”
As they entered the elevator, a hotel baggage handler in uniform pushed a luggage cart in, on which was a black suitcase.
The baggage handler smiled at her and greeted her. Shuangxu politely nodded and looked away.
Their room was on the 7th floor. After getting off the elevator, the baggage handler continued to the top floor suite on the next floor to deliver luggage.
The meeting with Huifeng was scheduled for the next two days. Shuangxu put her luggage in the room, changed her clothes, and planned to go out for a walk in the evening.
She politely invited the great god to come to the hotel.
The other party was extremely socially anxious and expressed a preference for staying alone in the hotel. Shuangxu didn’t push it and went out herself.
As soon as she got in the car, the driver asked, “Beautiful lady, are you here for a trip?”
Shuangxu was curious, “How did you know? Do I not look like a local?”
“Our eyes are trained. The moment you came out with that expression, I knew you were a tourist. Locals see their own city like they see their wife, they’re tired of it, no freshness at all.”
The analogy was crudely accurate.
That being said, Shuangxu asked about fun places, and the driver talked enthusiastically, introducing many famous local attractions and specialties along the way.
Compared to the heavy history of Yan City, Lin City was younger, more fashionable, and more relaxed.
She went to a local restaurant, strolled around the street, and returned to the hotel at nine o’clock.
Xiao Liao sent her a video, pointing at Shu Yang in the hospital bed and complaining, “Boss, I’m reporting you. She’s trying to sneakily order takeout again.”
Shu Yang also pointed at her, “You’re going to regret this.”
“It’s useless to threaten me, the Boss said the company is hers now, you can’t fire me. I’m the Imperial Envoy, on a mission!”
As she entered the elevator, Shuangxu was looking at her phone. She laughed and replied to Xiao Liao with a voice message, “Be good. I’ll reward you.”
She had been abroad for several years, her personality had become introverted and calm, but a few years ago, when she was carefree and following Shen Yu, she loved to smile.
Her short, round almond eyes were sweet when she smiled, and her voice was soft, even her speech was like a wave.
After she finished speaking, she saw someone in the elevator. Her gaze rose from his black trousers, meeting He Tingzhou’s drooping eyes.
He Tingzhou was holding his pockets, his black eyes swept over her phone, and he saw the profile picture in the chat box from the inverted screen. He could vaguely make out that it was a man’s abdominal muscle photo.
The nickname was Xiao Liao.
