Chapter 60: Drunk, Afraid You’ll Cause a Scene
Anyang Technology was an established listed company, with a deeper foundation and a more stable style than emerging tech companies like Hui Feng.
Anyang had previously had a deep partnership with Yundun. The general manager was a capable woman with short hair. Thanks to He Tingzhou, Shuangxu had exchanged business cards with her at the summit yesterday. During their conversation, Ms. Feng expressed her admiration for Shuangxu.
In the afternoon, Shuangxu was invited to Anyang’s headquarters. Ms. Feng personally received her and took her on a tour of the factory.
Ms. Feng was a straightforward person. After reviewing Fei Xue’s project materials, she decided to sign the contract on the spot.
Shuangxu was a little surprised. “Don’t you need to consider it further?”
Ms. Feng smiled. “Mr. He has a keen eye for projects. It’s an honor for Anyang to collaborate with you.”
Leaning on a big tree for shade. It seems she was benefiting from He Tingzhou again.
After signing the contract, Shuangxu took the Great God back to the hotel.
On the way, she asked, “I want to invite Brother Tingzhou for dinner tonight to thank him for his help. Do you want to come?”
The Great God firmly refused. “I’ll just order takeout at the hotel.”
Shuangxu expressed understanding.
The Great God said hesitantly, “I feel like Mr. He doesn’t like me very much.”
Shuangxu’s lips curved into a smile as she comforted him. “Trust me, it’s not your problem. He disdains everyone indiscriminately.”
She first sent a message to Xu Zhen, asking if He Tingzhou had any plans for the evening.
When they arrived at the hotel and got out of the car, Xu Zhen replied: [Mr. He has no arrangements tonight. He’s currently at the hotel. Ms. Song can ask him personally.]
Shuangxu was considering whether to go directly upstairs and knock on the door or call He Tingzhou first.
As she hesitated, she heard a soft, sweet voice. “I’m here to see Mr. He.”
The voice was vaguely familiar, as if she had heard it somewhere before. Shuangxu instinctively looked up and saw a graceful figure standing at the front desk, wearing a cheongsam, exuding a captivating charm.
The front desk was making a call to the penthouse suite, looking respectful.
Shuangxu was stunned for a few seconds. The cheongsam beauty turned her head, noticed her, and gave a soft smile. “Ms. Song, what a coincidence.”
“Hello.”
Shuangxu responded, avoiding eye contact as she walked towards the elevator, deleting the words she was typing on her phone.
When the elevator reached the seventh floor, she asked the Great God, “Which takeout place do you want to order from? Are there any good restaurants nearby?”
“Aren’t you going to invite Mr. He to dinner?”
Shuangxu shook her head. “He should be busy tonight.”
For the past few days, he had been bringing a beautiful woman all the way from Yancheng to keep him company. It would be awkward for her to intrude on his enjoyment.
She couldn’t help but think back to last night, and then recall the awkwardness of being rejected the last time.
He Tingzhou was never a gentleman, a playboy who had women throwing themselves at him.
Perhaps, as he said, he didn’t play with his friends’ sisters, or maybe he just wasn’t interested in her.
After staying in Licheng for four days and resolving the liquid hydrogen supplier issue, Shuangxu booked a flight back to Yancheng the next day.
While checking in at the airport, she received a call from He Tingzhou.
He Tingzhou asked, “Where are you going? I’m going back to Yancheng in two hours. I can give you a ride.”
“No need.” Shuangxu said, “Your private jet probably can’t fit that many people.”
He was bringing a concubine along. It would be awkward for her to be a third wheel, especially since the Great God was also very socially anxious.
The man’s voice was still lazy. “It’s a plane, not a motorcycle. How could it not fit? Did you buy a football team?”
“…I already bought my ticket. I’m at the airport.”
“Then why don’t you transfer the ticket money to me.” He Tingzhou said, “Why let the water flow to an outsider’s field?”
“Then I’d be spending twice as much.” She wasn’t stupid. “I’m going through security. I’ll hang up.”
The plane landed in Yancheng. When Shuangxu came out of the airport, Shen Yu’s car was already parked outside.
“Brother?” She was surprised. “Why are you here?”
“Isn’t it good to pick you up?” Shen Yu said.
“Zifeng Ge said you were going to Germany. I thought you had already left.” She rarely contacted Shen Yu on her own initiative. She learned this news from Yue Zifeng.
“Leaving tonight.” Shen Yu took her luggage and the driver put it in the car.
Shen Yu glanced at his watch. “There’s still time to take you to dinner.”
Shuangxu said a little embarrassedly, “I already had airplane food.”
She used to think airplane food was bad, and she would rather starve than try it. She would wait until she got off the plane for Shen Yu to take her to eat something delicious.
When she was abroad, there was even worse food, with no choice but to eat. Her picky eating habits had changed.
Shen Yu’s eyes were deep, as if he was thinking about something. After a while, he gently rubbed her hair and said with a light smile, “Our little Jiu has suffered.”
It wasn’t really suffering, just that she had been treated like a princess by him before, and now there was a gap.
The driver waiting nearby suddenly reminded in a low voice, “Mr. He is coming out.”
Shuangxu turned her head and saw He Tingzhou walking out of the airport glass door.
He had his hands in his pockets, his suit jacket hanging on his arm. It was unclear if it was because the sunlight was too bright, but his expression seemed particularly indifferent.
Xu Zhen followed behind, pushing his luggage, politely nodding to Shen Yu and Shuangxu.
His car was parked behind Shen Yu’s car. When He Tingzhou passed them, his eyes swept over Shuangxu, and his casual tone was not sincere.
“You’re here to pick me up? Why didn’t you say anything beforehand.”
“Yeah, I came to pick you up specifically.” Shen Yu smiled, “If you don’t mind, we can squeeze in together.”
“Mind.” He Tingzhou said, “I was harassed by a drunkard the other day. He used me as a cushion for half an hour. My legs are still sore.”
His lazy voice reminded Shuangxu of the sensitive nerve in her was suddenly pulled tight.
Shen Yu thought he had another romantic encounter, and laughed it off: “When did you become so patient? You didn’t throw her off, and you even let her sit for half an hour.”
He Tingzhou also laughed: “She hugged tight, there was no way.”
His tone didn’t sound particularly helpless, but rather, one could discern a subtle, unspoken meaning.
Shuangxu’s entire spine stiffened, straighter than bamboo, as if it had also become brittle. If He Tingzhou said anything more, she would snap in two on the spot.
Noticing her startled bird appearance, He Tingzhou glanced at her, chatting casually: “Does the little princess like to drink?”
Shen Yu said: “She has a weak tolerance, she doesn’t like to drink much.”
He Tingzhou said: “She didn’t like to drink before, maybe she likes it now.”
These words made Shen Yu fall silent.
In the five years that Shuangxu was not by his side, many changes had indeed occurred, changes he was unaware of.
“I still don’t like it now.” Shuangxu’s voice was full of tension, she secretly glared at He Tingzhou, hoping he would have mercy and shut up.
“That’s good.” He Tingzhou’s lips curled up in a slightly ambiguous angle, his voice was like an elder brother’s concern, “If you have a weak tolerance, drink less. If you get drunk, I’m afraid you’ll cause trouble.”
