“Beyond the Boundaries” Chapter 90

Chapter 90: Do I Look Like Your Brother?

He called her “sister,” his tone light and teasing, like a friend joking with his friend’s sister. Only Shuangxu could hear the coldness in it.

“Do I look like your brother?”

Yue Zifeng and the others liked to call her sister.

He had called her by her full name, called her Ms. Song, even mocked her as “Little Princess,” but he had never called her sister.

Shuangxu immediately explained, “It’s just that we’re about the same size. I didn’t see your face just now.”

He and Shen Yu were similar in build, He was an inch or two taller than Shen Yu, with broader shoulders and more muscular. Other than that, they were pretty much alike, and their sizes even matched.

But their temperaments were completely different. The same clothes worn on him lost that scholarly feel.

He possessed both a sharp aggression and an extreme, relaxed laziness, two contradictory temperaments that combined to make He Tingzhou.

He Tingzhou’s lips curled into a mocking smile. “So, you mean my face doesn’t look like him, but my body does?”

There were still servants coming and going in the living room. He said without any hesitation, “Is this why you wanted to turn off the lights last night?”

What was he talking about?

Shuangxu’s expression went from dazed to slightly panicked. She looked at Fu Yun who was coming out of the kitchen, praying she hadn’t heard.

He Tingzhou walked away, seeming uninterested in her answer.

Fu Yun said with concern, “Tingzhou, I made some hot ginger tea. Have some, it’ll help prevent a cold.”

“Ginger eaten late at night is as poisonous as arsenic,” He Tingzhou said coldly. “I don’t want to die today.”

Fu Yun was a little embarrassed by his words, but he didn’t care and walked away.

Shen Yu walked in and brushed past He Tingzhou.

He exuded a cold aura that said “Keep away,” and left a sentence: “Your sister’s eyesight isn’t very good, take her to get a pair of glasses.”

Shen Yu was a little surprised and looked at Shuangxu. “What’s wrong?”

Shuangxu said with a hint of annoyance, “I just mistook Brother Tingzhou for you.”

“I thought it was something serious.” Shen Yu didn’t care. “It’s okay, Tingzhou isn’t that petty.”

He was extremely petty.

Shuangxu watched He Tingzhou’s departing figure, her mood feeling like it had been thrown from a high altitude, falling and falling, unable to touch the ground for a long time.

How could he have thought of that?

He Tingzhou’s reputation for being arrogant and having a bad temper was well-known. He was a person who had no taboos, and he would even dare to contradict his father when he was angry. Fu Yun didn’t mind his rudeness.

“Drink the ginger tea quickly,” she urged Shuangxu. “You’re such a reckless child. Why didn’t you call for someone? You just jumped down yourself.”

Saving someone was an instinct. Shuangxu hadn’t thought much about it at the time.

“Brother Tingzhou has saved me several times. This time, he helped our family so much. I should save him.”

Fu Yun patted her head with a look of relief. “Good girl.”

Shuangxu picked up the spoon and drank the ginger tea. It was too hot, and she couldn’t drink it.

Lu Manman, who had been out of sight all night, suddenly appeared and sat next to her. “I’m going to your place later, I’ll give you a ride.”

This wasn’t a request. Shuangxu turned her head, and Lu Manman winked at her, her eyes saying: Let’s talk privately.

Shuangxu didn’t refuse.

These siblings were both very domineering, not allowing anyone to refuse, and not giving anyone a chance to explain.

On the way, Lu Manman kept looking at her. Shuangxu pretended not to notice, worrying about how to clear up this inexplicable misunderstanding.

Lu’s driver dropped Shuangxu off at Songming Road, and Lu Manman got out of the car with her and wanted to go upstairs with her.

Shuangxu wasn’t sure if He Tingzhou was there or if he would come tonight, and she stopped helplessly.

“Why are you following me?”

“Don’t want me to go in? Hmph, that man is hiding in your house, isn’t he!” Lu Manman grabbed her shoulder, her questioning tone like a wife who had discovered her husband’s infidelity. “Tell me, who is he?”

Shuangxu changed the subject. “Where did you go tonight?”

Lu Manman stroked her chin, looking mysterious. “I was thinking.”

“It’s good for you to think more.” Shuangxu finished speaking and was about to leave, but Lu Manman grabbed her hand quickly.

“Oh, don’t go.” Lu Manman hung on to her. “Tell me, if it’s not your brother, who is that man? How did you change your mind so quickly?”

“Don’t ask, it’s not good for you to know.” Shuangxu pushed her hand away.

Lu Manman threatened her, “If you don’t tell me, I’ll tell your brother that you’re seeing someone else!”

“Go ahead.” Shuangxu wasn’t threatened at all. “My brother won’t care about that.”

She was only afraid of one thing, that Shen Yu would know that she had made a deal with He Tingzhou that she couldn’t reveal.

As for dating men, she wasn’t a child anymore, how could Shen Yu care.

She waved her hand, ignoring Lu Manman’s curiosity, which she couldn’t satisfy and would probably keep her up all night, and turned to go upstairs.

Lu Manman said, “Xiao Jiu, I really thought a lot today. I think I underestimated the relationship between you and your brother.”

Shuangxu stopped and turned to look at her.

“When others look at you two, they always have lewd speculations, but your brother is attracted to you, but he stops at the line of propriety. You like him, but you’ve never had sexual fantasies about him. Your relationship is free of desire, far more noble than those of us who speculate.”

“Before, I was always afraid that you would steal Shen Yu, but actually, I’m the one who inserted myself between you two, right?”

Shuangxu was surprised that she would reflect on herself in this way, and her tone became softer. “No, there’s no one between me and my brother. It’s just that I haven’t put myself in the right place.”

“Actually, I don’t understand your brother’s feelings for you either. But Xiao Jiu, I think he might not be indifferent to you.”

Lu Manman’s eyes were bright and honest in the night–>>

She yearned for the most genuine love. If she couldn’t have it, she hoped others could.

Shuangxu shook her head, “He only sees me as his sister.”

That was good enough.

She didn’t want to risk anything that could further push her and Shen Yu apart.

No one was home that night, and He Tingzhou didn’t come either.

Lying in bed, Shuangxu thought about the cold way he left the Shen residence.

Treating someone else as someone else in bed was pretty insulting. Although she didn’t know how He Tingzhou’s mind could jump to that place, he was used to being above everyone else, so he probably couldn’t stand that kind of humiliation.

Actually, He Tingzhou was the first person in the world to discover her feelings for Shen Yu, even earlier than her best friend, He Xi Yue.

During that period, he often visited the Shen residence. He always got beaten when playing chess with him, so she felt very uncomfortable every time, looking forward to Shen Yu’s return.

One time, Shen Yu went back to his room to change clothes. While she was playing chess with He Tingzhou in the living room, she kept looking at the stairs.

He Tingzhou suddenly asked, “Do you like your brother?”

Shuangxu froze, turning to meet his meaningful gaze.

Caught off guard, she was so nervous that her mind went blank. She didn’t know how to answer, and her face felt hot.

When Shen Yu came down, she was so flustered that she was afraid He Tingzhou would tell him. He didn’t say anything, probably not interested in her little secret.

But after that day, she never saw He Tingzhou at the Shen residence again.
