“Beyond the Boundaries” Chapter 98

Chapter 98: Why Do You Smell Like Xiao Jiu?

Familiarly reaching the top floor office, He Tingzhou was standing by the window making a phone call. Hearing the door open, he turned around and gestured to her with a crooked finger.

Shuangxu walked over, hearing him talking about some military project, she wisely stood a little further away.

He Tingzhou glanced at her, still listening to the phone, his tone sharp: “The cycle is too long, you want me to wait for him for six months, he might as well wait for the next life to come and cooperate with me.”

Seeing that he was not his usual self, Shuangxu almost forgot how ruthless He Tingzhou was.

Hanging up the phone, He Tingzhou held the phone and looked at her: “Three days apart, not familiar anymore?”

“You were on the phone,” Shuangxu said, “I’m not comfortable listening to business secrets.”

“I’m comfortable talking, what’s there for you to be uncomfortable listening to.”

He Tingzhou walked to the sofa and sat down, putting his legs up, assuming a cold and indifferent posture like hers, “President Song, let’s talk about business.”

Shuangxu walked to the single seat next to him and sat down: “The changes in the plan have all been marked, the test flight process will be live-streamed on the platform, specific details are all in the planning book.”

He Tingzhou flipped through the new version of the planning book, the office was only filled with the soft sound of paper turning.

Shuangxu stared at his hand.

That hand suddenly tapped on a certain part of the document: “Is this data wrong?”

Shuangxu immediately got up and went over to confirm: “Where is it wrong?”

He Tingzhou took the opportunity to hook her waist and pulled her onto his lap, with a feigned serious expression: “I was wrong.”

“…” She had fallen for it.

Shuangxu tried to get up, but was effortlessly pressed back down by him.

“This is your office, can you not be so noisy?”

He Tingzhou: “Then go to your office and make noise?”

She tried to get up for the second time, but was once again held back by He Tingzhou.

“ADHD?” He Tingzhou raised his eyelids, his high brows and deep eyes, his black eyes seemed even deeper than others, “Why is it so hard to make you sit still.”

It was a bit too much to be doing this in the office, Shuangxu felt like she was sitting on nails, not his legs.

“How long?” she asked.

“Ten minutes.”

She actually took out her phone and set a ten-minute timer, He Tingzhou looked at her official action, pulled her ears, tugged at the flesh on her cheeks, and then pinched her mouth open to check her teeth.

“What are you doing?” Shuangxu inexplicably slapped his hand away.

He Tingzhou said: “See if your brother has replaced me with a robot while I’m gone, so meticulous.”

“… My brother doesn’t know.”

“That’s true.” He Tingzhou put one arm around her waist and rested his chin on her shoulder: “I haven’t slept well these past few days, let me hug you.”

Pretending to be pitiful, Shuangxu felt his weight on her shoulder, she couldn’t get up: “Isn’t there someone fanning you?”

“What fan?” He Tingzhou dragged out his lazy tone.

Shuangxu: “Hunt down an elephant, cut off half its head, take out the ivory and carve it into thin slices, then carve patterns on it, make a fan.”

He Tingzhou’s head left her shoulder and leaned back against the sofa, Shuangxu turned her head and saw his slowly raised eyebrows.

“Such a brutal fan, did the elephant’s ghost come to fan me personally?”

Shuangxu: “…”

His eyes were clearly raised at the corners, his smile was charming, Shuangxu felt like he was making fun of her, her face inexplicably flushed, she turned her face away.

Since He Tingzhou promised not to have relationships with other women at the same time, then even if he had ten people fanning him, it wouldn’t bother her.

She wanted to take back what she said earlier. It seemed like she cared a lot.

She picked up her phone, wanting to see why the ten-minute timer hadn’t reached yet, but found that the timer was paused at nine minutes and fifty-five seconds.

This meant that five seconds after she set it, it was secretly turned off – at that time, she was having He Tingzhou pinch her face and look at her teeth.

What a good way to distract her.

He Tingzhou was looking at her phone with her, pretending not to know: “Broken? Ask your brother to fix it for you.”

“You’re so annoying,” Shuangxu said.

He Tingzhou laughed, just as the internal line on the desk rang, he gently pushed her on the waist, lifting her up.

“Go answer it.”

Shuangxu took the opportunity to get up from him and pressed the internal line, the secretary reported: “Mr. He, Ms. Lu is here to deliver something to you.”

Lu Manman?

Shuangxu turned her head to look at He Tingzhou, just about to tell the secretary to wait a moment, let her leave before letting Lu Manman come in, when Lu Manman’s voice came from the phone: “Cousin, are you busy?”

!

Lu Manman was already outside the office?

Then it was too late for her to leave now, if she went out she would run into Lu Manman.

Her suddenly widened eyes were filled with the words “It’s over”, she didn’t dare to speak, she used lip-reading to ask He Tingzhou: “What to do?”

He Tingzhou got up, his steps calmly walked behind her, under her gaze, he said: “Let her in.”

“…”

The internal line hung up, Shuangxu almost heard the secretary’s voice outside the office: “Ms. Lu, please come in.”

At that moment, Shuangxu deeply understood those adulterers in TV dramas who were panicked and had nowhere to hide because their husband suddenly came home.

She was furious, she kicked He Tingzhou’s calf, quickly walked to the sofa and sat down, pretending to pick up her phone.

Only to find that it was He Tingzhou’s, she quickly put it down, reached out to grab the plan that He Tingzhou had been browsing just now, and opened it.

Putting on an “at work, do not disturb” posture.

Suddenly she raised her hand to tidy her hair, and her shirt that wasn’t messy.

He Tingzhou lowered his head and glanced at the half-footprint on his pants, raised his eyebrows, leaned back on the sofa.

He sat at his desk, watching her with an air of leisure.

“You’re quite skilled,” he said, “Do you often sneak around with people?”

Shuangxu glared at him, but as the office door opened, she quickly turned her attention to the documents, appearing serious and professional.

“Cousin,” Lu Manman walked in, surprised to see Shuangxu. “Hey, Xiao Jiu, what are you doing here?”

“Discussing the test flight with Tingzhou,” Shuangxu responded calmly.

“Oh,” Lu Manman didn’t suspect a thing. Seeing the cake on the coffee table, her eyes lit up. “I love this cake too, I want some.”

“What are you doing here?” He Tingzhou’s tone lacked any hint of welcome.

“My mom recently made some incense, specifically for you. It’s made with Hainan agarwood, it’s good for calming and sleep,” Lu Manman handed him a delicate little pouch. “Here.”

He Tingzhou took it, but didn’t look at it. He casually placed it on the table and shooed her away. “You’ve delivered it, you can go now.”

Normally, Lu Manman wouldn’t want to stay in his office for long, but with Shuangxu there today, she wasn’t as afraid. “I’ll just have a piece of cake.”

She walked towards the sofa, but stopped halfway.

Her eyebrows drew together, and like a dog, she sniffed the air near He Tingzhou.

After sniffing twice, she stopped and met He Tingzhou’s downcast gaze.

He Tingzhou looked at her coldly. “Did a dog eat your brain, or did you eat a dog’s brain?”

Lu Manman’s face showed a look of confusion. “Cousin, why do you smell like Xiao Jiu?”
