Lin Xi: “Oh. Drive, I’m in a hurry.”
The Ghost Driver was a White Ghost, recently deceased, with little resentment and no record of harming anyone.
Such an unremarkable ghost wasn’t even worth her effort.
The Ghost Driver couldn’t understand—why wasn’t this girl afraid?
In the past, anyone who saw him—whether an eighty-year-old elder or a three-year-old child—would be so terrified they’d flee in a panic, tumbling over themselves.
The Ghost Driver stretched his neck, exhaled a cold breath toward Lin Xi, and bared a row of gleaming white teeth. “I really am a ghost, you know.”
Two blood-red holes stared straight at her, while the eyeballs on the ground bounced and rolled, producing crisp, rhythmic thuds that made one’s head ache.
Lin Xi was annoyed.
She picked up the two eyeballs and stuffed them back into the Ghost Driver’s mouth, her tone cold. “If you’re ugly, don’t come out to scare people. It ruins the city’s appearance.”
A surge of powerful energy blasted outward, causing the Ghost Driver’s yin aura to weaken noticeably.
He clutched his throat and coughed violently. “Waaahhh! Someone’s killing ghosts!!!”
A sharp, piercing cry rang through the air. Lin Xi remained expressionless. “Make another sound, and I’ll wipe you out.”
Sensing the overwhelming presence of a true master, the Ghost Driver dared not utter another word. He hastily retrieved the eyeballs from his stomach and popped them back into their sockets.
Obediently, he sat back in the driver’s seat and fastened his seatbelt. “M-Master, I’ll start driving right away, but… I can’t leave this place.”
“No worries, just drive.” Lin Xi closed her eyes to rest.
The Ghost Driver stole a glance at her through the rearview mirror and slammed his foot on the gas.
If he didn’t start driving now, he was done for!
The ghost car cruised smoothly, seamlessly merging onto the Ghost Road.
The Ghost Driver was overwhelmed with emotion.
Wuwuwu, he was finally leaving that damned place.
Now, he could go home and see his family one last time.
But remembering the master in the backseat, he quickly dismissed that thought and focused on driving.
The Ghost Road had very few vehicles, with clusters of blue ghost flames floating aimlessly. In the distance, an open space was packed with ghosts.
“Everybody, let’s go crazy!!”
“You are the most beautiful cloud in my sky~”
Lin Xi opened her eyes and looked out the window—countless ghosts were twisting and dancing to the rhythm of the music.
In the crowd of ghosts, Lin Xi caught sight of a familiar figure.
Before she could think too much about it, the ghost car sped past, leaving the scene behind.
Half an hour later, the Ghost Driver pulled over in a graveyard, letting out an awkward chuckle. “Master, we’ve arrived.”
Lin Xi gazed at the distant skyline of towering buildings and said calmly, “Not bad. Your driving skills are decent.”
The Ghost Driver scratched the back of his head. “Haha, I’ve been driving for twenty years.”
“Master, please step out.” He opened the car door and gestured politely.
As soon as he sent her off, he planned to go find his family for a final farewell.
Lin Xi stepped out of the car and cast him a deep look. “The paths of the living and the dead are separate, and the realms of yin and yang do not cross. The yin energy on you will harm ordinary people, just as human yang energy will also hurt you.”
“Since you gave me a ride, I’ll send you to the underworld as your fare.”
The Ghost Driver’s heart pounded violently.
The master truly lived up to her name—she saw through his thoughts at a glance.
With a thud, he dropped to his knees. “Master, I can’t let go of my wife and my five-year-old daughter.”
The Ghost Driver’s name was Zhao Long. His family of three had struggled to make ends meet in a tiny, rundown rental apartment.
He hadn’t received much education, making a living by driving a taxi to support his wife and child.
Zhao Long had only one wish in life—to earn more money so his wife and daughter could live a better life.
That night, he was driving his taxi home. On the passenger seat sat his daughter’s favorite toy—SpongeBob SquarePants.
With a goofy smile on his face, Zhao Long drove in the direction of home.
Just past the next bridge, he would be home. His daughter would be overjoyed to see the big yellow sponge.
But halfway there, the bridge collapsed.
Zhao Long, along with his car, plunged into the river.
He died, never getting to see his wife and daughter again.
After becoming a ghost, Zhao Long spent every night driving his taxi in circles on the same road.
He had covered the outside of his car with SpongeBob drawings, hoping someone would recognize him.
“Wuuu wuuu wuuu…”
Zhao Long sobbed miserably, snot and tears streaming down his face.
He clung to Lin Xi’s pant leg, sniffling non-stop. “Master, my daughter is only five years old… She lost her father at just five…”
Lin Xi flicked away his grimy hands. “Enough. Stop crying. The uglier you look, the worse it gets.”
Zhao Long wiped his tears, then pulled out a crumpled SpongeBob toy and shoved it into her hand.
“Master, I don’t want to hurt my wife and daughter. Could you pass on a message for me?”
“Tell my wife that I love her very much. I hope she won’t be too sad. If she meets someone suitable, she can remarry…”
Lin Xi cut him off. “Stop.”
Zhao Long thought the master found him too long-winded, so he rushed to finish his words in one breath.
“Master, one last thing—there’s thirty thousand yuan hidden under the sofa.”
Lin Xi: “…”
This was the real key point, wasn’t it?
She said, “I’ll send you into a dream. You can tell them yourself.”
Zhao Long was ecstatic. “Master, really?”
“Master, you’re amazing! You’re the most powerful person I’ve ever met!”
He flattered her so much that even Lin Xi felt a little embarrassed.
She lifted her chin. “This kind of spell? I mastered it when I was three.”
Zhao Long gave her a thumbs-up. “Master, you’re truly extraordinary! Brilliant beyond words…”
Lin Xi formed a hand seal. “Alright, let’s hurry up. There are only three hours until dawn.”
Zhao Long’s figure gradually faded. As he disappeared, he shouted, “Master, goodbye! I owe you my life! When you die, I’ll be waiting below to repay you like an ox or a horse—”
Lin Xi: No need, really.
Right now, she couldn’t stand hearing the word “death” because she was really on the verge of dying.
And the person her master spoke of? She hadn’t even seen a shadow of them.
If she could live, who would want to die?
Lin Xi walked through the graveyard and into the towering buildings beyond. She had searched the entire day without encountering the man with the special fate.
Before she knew it, night had fallen. A strong scent of blood filled the air, and she crouched by the roadside, coughing up a mouthful of blood.
Only twenty minutes remained. The life force within her was dwindling, while death energy grew stronger.
It felt like countless ants were crawling through her body, an unbearable pain consuming her.
Lin Xi wiped the blood from the corner of her mouth. “Master, I’m about to see you soon.”
She didn’t understand why her fate was like this.
No friends, no family, and now, not even a life to hold onto. It was as if she was never meant to exist in this world.
She wandered aimlessly through the streets, her head dizzy and her vision blurring.
Eventually, she could walk no further. She stopped at the steps of a hospital, quietly waiting for death to come.
This was a good place to die. If she passed away here, she’d be taken straight to the morgue—no need to worry about someone handling her corpse.
At the intersection, a low-key yet luxurious Maybach slowly pulled to a stop.
A bodyguard in black opened the car door and respectfully said, “President Fu.”
A moment later, a man in a black suit stepped out, responding with an indifferent hum.
The man was exceptionally handsome—his brows were deep-set, his nose high and sharp, his lips thin. His tall and well-proportioned figure carried an air of innate nobility.
Standing among the black-clad bodyguards, he was impossible to ignore.
The moment he appeared, Lin Xi felt it.
She turned to look in his direction.
A dense aura of imperial purple energy surged toward her, radiating brilliance like a dazzling beacon in the darkness.
Lin Xi’s eyes widened.
It was him!
He had arrived!
He had come with the aura of an emperor!
