Lin Xi was stunned and waved. “Morning.”
The man looked at her. “One in the morning; of course it’s morning.”
Lin Xi readily agreed. “Why aren’t you asleep so late?”
Fu Jingyao paused for two seconds. “Waiting for you.”
Hearing his answer, Lin Xi felt a little awkward.
Tonight, Fu Jingyao was different; his tone was like a resentful little wife waiting in the boudoir.
Based on his usual temperament, he should have said something like, “There’s too much work at the company.”
Lin Xi was used to being alone and had almost forgotten that she had a family.
She said, “Next time, you don’t need to wait for me.”
Fu Jingyao held her wrist. “Come in first; it’s windy outside.”
“Oh.” Lin Xi yawned. “I’m going upstairs; you should go to bed early.”
Fu Jingyao said, “Wu Ma left some food on the warming plate; it hasn’t been touched.”
Lin Xi’s eyes lit up. “Great! I’ll eat before I sleep.”
The noodles weren’t filling; she was hungry after working all night.
She walked into the dining room. There were three dishes and a soup on the table, and a jar of chili sauce next to it.
Lin Xi picked up the chili sauce. “Was this specially prepared for me?”
“Wu Ma made it; she used Hunan chili peppers.” Fu Jingyao checked the temperature of the bowl. “Do you need to heat it up?”
“No.” Lin Xi put the dishes on top of the rice and took a bite. “Mm, it’s just the right flavor.”
Fu Jingyao stood quietly to the side.
Lin Xi picked up her bowl. “Will you eat?”
Fu Jingyao shook his head; he never ate late-night snacks.
He sat down and watched her eat.
Lin Xi was particularly happy when eating, her cheeks puffed out, like a little hamster guarding its food.
Watching, Fu Jingyao suddenly wanted to try it.
He picked up his chopsticks and picked up a piece of green vegetable.
Lin Xi quickly shouted, “Wait, that’s what’s left in my bowl; it’s very…”
“It’s okay.”
Fu Jingyao tasted it. The spiciness shot from his tongue to the top of his head, and his face instantly turned red.
So spicy!!
Lin Xi quickly poured a glass of water. “I mean, it’s super-duper insanely spicy. I added five scoops of chili sauce; didn’t you see?”
Fu Jingyao drank three glasses of water before the spiciness subsided slightly.
He had been focusing on Lin Xi and hadn’t noticed the five scoops of chili at all.
The man pretended to be calm. “It’s fine; it’s just a little spicy.”
Lin Xi poured another glass of water. “Should I get you some medicine?”
“No, no need.”
Fu Jingyao took the glass of water and drank it in one gulp.
A little sweat appeared on his forehead, and Lin Xi took a tissue to wipe it for him. “Don’t be stubborn. If there’s a problem, call me. Trust my medical skills.”
“Mm, okay.”
A faint fragrance lingered in the air, and Fu Jingyao’s face turned even redder.
What kind of nonsense was in Wu Ma’s love guidebook? The situation was completely different from what she had expected.
He was dumbfounded; he had actually believed what Wu Ma had written.
…
Antique street.
Wang Liangshan sat in a teahouse, closing his eyes and playing with his prayer beads. “Li San, is everything done?”
Li San nodded. “Mr. Wang, we’re second in line.”
Wang Liangshan opened his eyes. “Who’s first? Give me money to bribe them!”
Li San broke out in a cold sweat. “That person said he doesn’t need money.”
“Keep adding!”
Wang Liangshan coldly snorted. “I don’t believe it. In this world, no one can resist the temptation of money.”
Li San remained silent, head bowed.
Mr. Wang, have you forgotten that Master Lin isn’t tempted by money?
However, he didn’t dare to say this out loud.
Li San found the young man in front. “Mr. Wang said he can add more money.”
“I don’t need money!” Ji Heng said impatiently. “Stop bothering me.”
Li San ran back again. “Mr. Wang, I tried my best.”
Wang Liangshan stood up. “Take me to see who dares to disrespect me?”
“Yes.”
Li San ran downstairs again.
Wang Liangshan came to the stall, squinting at the young man in front. “This person… looks familiar.”
“Kid, why won’t you switch places with me?”
Ji Heng turned around. “I said I won’t switch; you’re really annoying.”
Seeing his face, Mr. Wang suddenly widened his eyes. “Ji… Young Master Ji?”
The Ji family was one of the top aristocratic families in Di Jing.
He had seen this young master, surrounded by admirers, once at the Ji family patriarch’s birthday banquet.
Ji Heng’s identity was unique; his mother was Fu Jianhua’s daughter.
Now, the Fu family was becoming even stronger under Fu Jingyao’s leadership. If he could establish a relationship with the Fu family, he wouldn’t have to worry for ten lifetimes.
Compared to the Ji family, the Wang family was like the moon and stars, let alone the Fu family.
No wonder he didn’t want money; he was Young Master Ji.
Wang Liangshan instantly changed his expression, a benevolent smile appearing on his lips. “Young Master Ji, it’s been a while.”
Ji Heng was dumbfounded. “You know me?”
“Haha, I am… your neighbor, Old Wang.”
Wang Liangshan’s smile was wide. “When you were little, I even held you…”
“Oh, Mr. Wang, you say that to everyone.”
Wang Liangshan’s smile froze for a moment. “Haha, Master Qian, good morning. You look even handsomer today.”
Qian Fugui slightly lifted his chin. “Good eyes.”
Wang Liangshan secretly rolled his eyes. Foolish fatty.
However, he needed to ask for a favor, so he quickly adjusted his expression. “Where’s Master Lin? She hasn’t come yet?”
Qian Fugui didn’t know either. “Master Lin will be here soon.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Lin Xi walked over with a small bag.
Wang Liangshan immediately greeted her. “Master Lin is here. Did you sleep well last night?”
Lin Xi glanced at him without speaking.
Ji Heng pushed Wang Liangshan aside and pointed at his face. “Boss, do you remember me?”
This time, Lin Xi didn’t need to think. “That unlucky wandering soul, what happened to you again?”
Ji Heng shook his head. “Nothing.”
After what happened to Wen Chengzhou, he didn’t dare to live in the dorm; he went home every day now.
After the three strange people came, Wen Chengzhou’s death was suppressed, and it was officially declared a suicide.
After that incident, Ji Heng was afraid to walk on the streets.
“Boss, I wanted to see you and buy some peace talismans.”
Lin Xi took out ten peace talismans. “Transfer the money.”
“Thank you, Boss.”
Ji Heng tightly grasped the peace talismans, his anxious heart finally settling down.
Wang Liangshan silently watched all this.
Young Master Ji was so respectful to Master Lin; it seemed she really had some skills.
Wang Liangshan tentatively spoke, “Master Lin, may I buy a few?”
Lin Xi looked at him meaningfully. “Peace talismans ward off evil spirits and ghosts, but they can’t prevent the evil of people’s hearts.”
Wang Liangshan’s heart tightened. “Master Lin, I don’t understand; please enlighten me.”
Lin Xi didn’t answer him. “I’m only doing two readings today.”
Ji Heng raised his hand. “I’m first.”
Wang Liangshan hesitated for a moment and then raised his hand. “I’m second.”
Lin Xi’s gaze rested on his face. “Ji Heng’s matter is already resolved; it’s your turn.”
Wang Liangshan was overjoyed and quickly took out a photo. “Master Lin, please look. This is my daughter’s hand.”
Lin Xi looked closely.
The arm in the photo was covered with dense fish scales, layer upon layer, making one’s scalp tingle.
Qian Fugui curiously leaned over.
With just one glance, he felt itchy all over, and his hair stood on end.
“Holy crap! My trypophobia is acting up!”
