In the deep mountains, a strange formation was drawn on the grass.
Li Chi sat in the center of the formation, tightly holding a statue of the koi. “Great One, I will definitely avenge you!”
For generations, Biluo Village had worshipped the koi, and the villagers would go to the temple to bow and pray for good fortune on the first and fifteenth of every month.
As a child, Li Chi didn’t believe in gods and found the adults’ behavior amusing, often sneaking off to play behind the temple.
The scenery there was beautiful, the leaves lush, and the air fresh.
As she wandered, she came across a clear stream that sparkled softly in the sunlight.
Seeing the fish and shrimp in the stream, Li Chi boldly waded in to play.
The water appeared shallow but was actually quite deep.
The current gradually intensified, and Li Chi lost her balance and fell into the stream.
She couldn’t swim, flailing desperately in a panic.
“Wuwu… Help!!”
A strong sense of suffocation surged over her, and Li Chi thought she was going to die.
A golden fish swam toward her, biting her clothes and dragging her to the shore.
Li Chi coughed up a large mouthful of water, fearfully eyeing the fish.
It was completely golden and three times larger than an ordinary fish.
Li Chi recalled the legend of Biluo Village and exclaimed in surprise.
“You… you are… the koi?!”
The koi blew a bubble.
Li Chi seemed to understand its meaning. “You are the Great Koi who protects Biluo Village.”
Her father had told her that the ancestors of Biluo Village fled here to escape war.
When the ancestors were gravely injured during their escape and on the brink of death, a koi saved them.
To express their gratitude, the ancestors set a clan rule: Biluo Village would forever worship the Great Koi until their entire clan perished.
Li Chi never expected that she had been saved by the Great Koi.
She imitated her father’s way of kneeling and bowed to the koi. “Thank you, Great Koi.”
The koi blew out three bubbles, happily swishing its tail.
Li Chi was overjoyed, understanding the koi’s meaning.
The Great One said no need to thank it and that little humans shouldn’t play in the water.
Li Chi solemnly vowed, “Great Koi, from now on, my descendants and I will wholeheartedly worship you.”
The koi blinked, leaping from the water to gently kiss her forehead.
This was the koi’s blessing!!
Receiving a blessing from the Great Koi was the greatest honor for the villagers of Biluo.
As Li Chi grew older, she took on the role of the village’s high priestess, leading the villagers in worshipping the Great Koi every month.
One day, while preparing offerings for the worship, she suddenly felt the absence of the Great One’s power.
Li Chi ran to the back mountain, only to find some bones.
Although the Great Koi was a deity, it was incredibly naïve and overly trusting of humans.
Li Chi voluntarily left her home and used witchcraft to find the three who had killed the koi.
She cast the most malicious curse in the world, ensuring that these individuals would never be reborn.
Everything went smoothly, but for some reason, those three hadn’t died.
Moreover, there was an inexplicable force preventing the curse from taking effect.
Li Chi bit her finger. “Tonight, you will surely die!!”
Blood dripped from her hand, and the formation emitted a strange red glow.
Wrinkles began to appear on Li Chi’s face, and her vitality slowly faded.
At that moment, the formation was suddenly interrupted.
Li Chi clutched her chest, vigilantly scanning her surroundings.
“Who? Who is it?!”
Lin Xi descended from the sky. “Just in time.”
Li Chi glared at her. “You are also from the metaphysical sect. You helped those three to stop the curse; why did you do this?!”
Lin Xi glanced at her. “It’s not me; it’s the koi.”
The koi nearby blew out two bubbles. “Little Chi.”
Seeing the familiar bubbles, Li Chi’s eyes widened. “Great Koi… what happened to you?”
The once resplendent Great One now emanated dark energy all over.
At first glance, she hadn’t even recognized it.
Li Chi rushed to the koi, tears streaming down her face. “Great One, you’re not dead, right?”
The koi extended its fin and gently patted her back. “Little Chi, don’t cry.”
After hugging it and crying for a while, Li Chi exclaimed in surprise, “Great One, you can talk now!”
The koi looked at Lin Xi and said clearly, “She, very, very good person.”
Li Chi apologized, “I’m sorry; I misunderstood earlier.”
“It’s alright.”
Lin Xi briefly explained the situation with the Wang family.
Li Chi was extremely agitated after hearing this. “Great Koi, why did you save those three? They killed you!!”
“They deserve to die!”
“Even if I have to give my life, I want them to die!!”
The koi frantically blew bubbles. “Little Chi, Little Chi…”
It was anxious beyond measure but couldn’t express what it wanted to say.
Instead, it looked hopefully at Lin Xi. “You tell, Little Chi.”
Lin Xi understood and helped translate for the koi. “Little Chi, I don’t want you to bear the burden of three lives, even at the cost of your own life and soul, just to help me take revenge.”
“I’m not saving Hu Tao and the others; I’m saving you.”
“Save, save me…”
Li Chi collapsed to the ground, crying uncontrollably.
The koi gently kissed her forehead, just like before. “Little Chi, don’t cry. Be well.”
The wrinkles on Li Chi’s face disappeared, and she radiated with a colorful light.
Once again, the Great One bestowed her with the koi’s blessing.
She remembered her father’s words: those who received the koi’s blessing would have smooth sailing in life and live to a ripe old age.
Li Chi tightly embraced the koi. “Great One, thank you, thank you…”
The koi waved its tail. “Little Chi, no need to thank me.”
The two of them exchanged heartfelt words for a long time.
Lin Xi stood nearby, acting as a gold medal translator, helping the koi communicate from time to time.
Li Chi wiped her tears and asked, “Great Koi, can you return to Biluo Village?”
The koi didn’t know either; it instinctively looked at Lin Xi. “Can I?”
Lin Xi sighed helplessly. “Come here; you blessed me with your koi blessing before. I’ll give you something good.”
The koi had bestowed her fortune, and she was going to give it the remaining purple energy she had.
Lin Xi closed her eyes, concentrating all her purple energy at her fingertips.
The koi stared at her blankly. “Lin Xi, it smells so good.”
Lin Xi gently tapped its forehead.
The koi’s natural colors, combined with the golden light of virtue and the imperial purple energy, created a dazzling spectacle.
At that moment, it radiated with a seven-colored light, dispelling the dark energy surrounding it.
The golden koi reappeared, now surrounded by a halo of colorful light.
A glimmer of surprise flashed in Li Chi’s eyes. “Great Koi, you’re back to normal!”
The koi joyfully spun around. “Sparkling, beautiful.”
“Thank you, Lin Xi.”
Lin Xi smiled. “No need to thank me.”
Fu Jingyao’s purple energy had actually been able to repair the koi’s soul; she would need to collect more next time.
Lin Xi looked at the two of them. “Li Chi, take the koi back to Biluo Village. One day, it will be able to reform its body.”
“You don’t need to worry about those three; the way of heaven will take care of them.”
Li Chi nodded. “Friend, on behalf of everyone in Biluo Village, thank you.”
Lin Xi waved her hand. “We’ll meet again if fate allows.”
Without the protection of the purple energy, the koi’s fortune wouldn’t last long.
She needed to hurry back to find Fu Jingyao to replenish her purple energy to avoid being struck by lightning.
Just as Lin Xi took a step forward, a deep rumble of thunder echoed from the sky.
She looked up.
Dark clouds rolled in the sky, accompanied by flashes of lightning.
Boom! A thick bolt of lightning struck down directly.
What?! So fast!
Lin Xi instinctively covered her head, squatted down, and rolled three times on the spot.
Li Chi and the koi were left dumbfounded.
