Chapter 49: Radiating Purple Qi

With each sentence, Madam Wu retreated ten steps.

By the end of her speech, she had fled downstairs and vanished.

Fu Jingyao sighed helplessly.

Madam Wu was a great cook and a kind person.

But when she had nothing to do, she loved reading all kinds of novels, especially those about domineering CEOs, and always had strange ideas in her head.

Her romance novel handbook showed Madam Wu’s active mind and extensive reading.

The person on the bed was sleeping soundly. Fu Jingyao closed his eyes, turned around, and went back to change her clothes.

They were husband and wife; changing clothes was perfectly normal.

Fu Jingyao found a loose set of pajamas, avoiding eye contact, changed Lin Xi’s clothes, and gently closed the door to leave.

The next day, Lin Xi rubbed her eyes.

So comfortable, as if all her pores had opened.

She always slept particularly soundly beside Fu Jingyao; she wouldn’t even hear thunder outside.

Waking up, she felt refreshed.

Lin Xi got out of bed to wash up, and was surprised to find the purple qi on her body was exceptionally strong, equivalent to having bitten Fu Jingyao three times.

This meant she had been in close contact with Fu Jingyao for a long time.

Whoa! What had she done last night?

Huh?  How did her clothes get changed?

Lin Xi, still slightly dazed, finished showering and went out to find someone and something to eat.

The man was sitting on the sofa drinking tea. She waved. “Good morning.”

Fu Jingyao looked up. “It’s four in the afternoon.”

“Huh?” Lin Xi chuckled awkwardly. “Who changed my clothes last night?”

Fu Jingyao stared at his teacup, his eyes flickering. “Madam Wu.”

Lin Xi looked around. “Where’s Madam Wu?”

Madam Wu was as mysterious as Liu, the butler—appearing only at crucial moments, otherwise nowhere to be found.

Fu Jingyao’s tone was flat.  “Madam Wu strained her back; she’s at the old house recovering. She won’t be coming to cook these few days.”

Lin Xi was stunned. “How did Madam Wu strain her back? Is it serious?”

Fu Jingyao smoothly replied, “Old people have more ailments; she’ll be fine after a few days’ rest. You don’t need to worry about her.”

Lin Xi was puzzled. “Aren’t you going to work today?”

“I finished up at the company and left early,” Fu Jingyao glanced at his watch. “Shall we eat?”

“Yes!” Lin Xi excitedly suggested, “Let’s eat out; I’ll treat you.”

“Good. What do you want to eat?”

“Anything’s fine,” Lin Xi emphasized. “I’m treating, you choose.”

Fu Jingyao’s lips curved slightly. “There’s a restaurant with good food. Let’s go.”

They got into the car together and arrived quickly.

The Maybach stopped at the restaurant entrance, and a waiter immediately approached. “Do you two have a reservation?”

Fu Jingyao produced a black card with gold lettering. The waiter’s demeanor became even more respectful, directly leading them to a private room.

Lin Xi looked around. From here, one could overlook a vast expanse of skyscrapers.

Fu Jingyao pushed the menu towards her. “Order.”

Lin Xi picked it up and exclaimed, “Hot pot!”

She’d been craving hot pot for a long time. She hadn’t expected Fu Jingyao to bring her here for hot pot.

Given the restaurant’s decor, she’d thought it was a high-end Western restaurant, the kind with tiny portions on each plate.

However, the hot pot here wasn’t cheap either.

Lin Xi scanned the menu and was stunned.

The broth was 5888, five slices of beef 1888, ten shrimp 2888, a fried rice dish 399, a plate of hairy belly 1988, and a regular Coke 68!

King crab, black abalone—she didn’t even bother looking at the prices; they all ended with a string of “8s.”

Lin Xi was numb.

This wasn’t a hot pot meal; it was the aroma of money.

Fu Jingyao noticed the change in her expression. “Order whatever you want; I’ll pay.”

“No.” Lin Xi refused.

She’d been running her stall for a while and had some savings; she could afford a meal, right?

Lin Xi put down the menu, took a deep breath, and said, “Brothers settle accounts clearly. Since I said I’d treat you, I’ll pay.”

Fu Jingyao looked at her intently, saying each word clearly, “We’re not brothers; we’re husband and wife.  We don’t need to be so meticulous.”

Lin Xi pouted. “I already said it.”

“Fine, have it your way.”

Fu Jingyao called the waiter to order.

Dish after dish arrived. Lin Xi tried not to think about the prices and buried herself in the food.

She had to admit, the 5888 broth was different; it was unbelievably delicious.

Lin Xi finished the last shrimp, slumped back in her chair, and rubbed her stomach.

Fu Jingyao chuckled lightly. “Are you full?”

“Yes, let’s go.”

Lin Xi checked her phone.

Yun Yan had sent a friend request. She accepted it and went to pay the bill.

A slightly overweight man rushed over. “Boss Fu, you came to eat and didn’t tell me beforehand.  Please forgive the poor service.”

He curiously asked, “Boss Fu, who is this?”

Fu Jingyao calmly replied, “My wife.”

“Oh, oh, what?!”

Manager Ma’s eyes widened, struggling to suppress his excitement. “Mrs. Fu, hello.  I apologize for not recognizing you earlier; my eyes were dim.”

“Hello.” Lin Xi held her phone. “This is my first time here. Where do I pay?”

Manager Ma’s eyes widened again. He was stunned for several seconds before stealing a glance at Boss Fu’s expression.

He cleared his throat. “Boss Fu and our owner are friends.  The owner said that Boss Fu doesn’t need to pay whenever he comes to eat.”

“Mrs. Fu, this is our owner’s instruction.”

Lin Xi hesitated. “But…”

Fu Jingyao held her wrist. “Don’t worry about it. Let’s go home.”

Lin Xi was pulled forward. “Your friend is a good person.”

Such an expensive restaurant, and they get lifetime free meals.

Fu Jingyao looked down at her. “The owner of this restaurant is male.”

“Ah, oh.” Lin Xi was a little confused.

She hadn’t asked the owner’s gender; why did Fu Jingyao suddenly mention it?

They were standing at the elevator entrance when a voice suddenly came from behind, sounding very aggrieved.

“Fu Jingyao, you dumped me in Africa and are having fun here. Do you even have a heart?”

Fu Jingyao subtly turned sideways. “He Ting.”

“Oh, you still remember my name.”

He Ting continued to complain, “I just took a few photos, and you were so heartless, you dumped me in Africa.”

That day at the hospital, he took pictures of Fu Jingyao being bitten by a woman.

That night, he was locked up in a small dark room for the night.

The next day when he woke up, he was in Africa.

He begged his grandfather for a long time before his grandfather got him back from Africa.

He Ting grew angrier. “Fu Jingyao, you’re done for. I’m going to tell Grandpa Fu about this.”

“Grandpa knows.” Fu Jingyao smiled faintly. “Let me introduce you, Lin Xi, my wife.”

He Ting saw Lin Xi’s face, his mouth forming an “o” shape.

“You…you’re that little…psychic!”

“You’re together!”

“I must not have woken up properly today.”

He Ting looked at them in surprise.

The first time they met, the little psychic said he had kidney deficiency, a weak body, a bad marriage, and difficult relationships.

Lin Xi remembered who this person was.

He Ting, prone to attracting bad romantic entanglements.

At this moment, he had a rosy complexion, a large bad romantic entanglement by his side, affecting his marriage.
