Following the hexagram, Lin Xi walked south, into increasingly remote areas.
Passing through a familiar graveyard, she entered a dark and gloomy forest.
Lin Xi looked around; there was no one in sight.
The wind blew, rustling the leaves.
The trees here were more lush than elsewhere, their leaves layered upon each other.
Was her fortune really here?
Lin Xi touched the bracelet on her left wrist, “Xiao Jin, go check inside.”
“Okay, Master.”
A white light shot from Lin Xi’s wrist to the ground, slowly transforming into a small paper figure.
The paper figure wore white clothes, with blunt bangs and big red cheeks.
Xiao Jin grinned, “Master, I’m going.”
Lin Xi nodded, “Go quickly and come back soon.”
“Okay.” Xiao Jin floated into the forest.
The other paper figures started making a fuss.
“Master, Master, I want to go too.”
“Master, me too.”
“Master, Master…”
Lin Xi patted the bracelet, “Xiao Mu, Xiao Shui, Xiao Huo, no more noise.”
The three little paper figures quieted down.
Lin Xi found a place to rest.
When she was a child, her Master was often away from the temple, leaving her terribly bored. She made several little paper figures to keep her company.
Later, when she went down the mountain with her Master to catch ghosts, she met four little sprites.
Xiao Jin was a sprite from a mine. At that time, the mine was being excavated, leaving him nowhere to go, so he followed Lin Xi.
Xiao Mu, Xiao Shui, and Xiao Huo were in similar situations to Xiao Jin, and they followed Lin Xi to cultivate together.
Lin Xi softly comforted the three little paper figures, “When I make a lot of money, I’ll make some beautiful clothes for you.”
“Wow, thank you, Master.” Xiao Shui was very happy, spinning around on her wrist.
“Thank you, Master, Xiao Mu.”
“Thank you, Master, Xiao Huo.”
Lin Xi looked at the three little paper figures, a faint smile on her face.
Fortunately, she still had the little paper figures to keep her company.
Soon, Xiao Jin sent a signal, a real unlucky guy was indeed in the dark forest.
Lin Xi got up to find Xiao Jin.
At this moment, Xiao Jin was squatting in the grass waiting for his master. He stared intently ahead.
A male ghost was clutching his butt and wailing, “Great immortal, please, let me go home. I can’t win against you. If I don’t go back, my mother will be worried to death.”
Beside him, a mass of yellowish-brown fog was bouncing around, “No, no, you can’t go. Who will play games with me if you leave?”
“Come on, it’s your turn to be the ghost. This time, if you catch me, I’ll let you go back.”
The male ghost chuckled, “You, a pile of yellowish-brown ghostly thing, I’ll never catch you.”
“You insulted me, you actually insulted me.”
The yellowish-brown fog was very angry, turning even yellower, its voice filled with tears, “We’re not friends anymore.”
The male ghost gave up, “When were we ever friends?”
“Wuwuwu…you big liar.”
The yellowish-brown fog dragged the male ghost inward, accidentally bumping into Xiao Jin in the grass.
Xiao Jin gave a polite smile and greeted them, “Hello, my name is Xiao Jin.”
For a moment, the fog and the male ghost were terrified.
Fog: “Aaaaaah! Monster!”
Male ghost: “Aaaaaah! Ghost!!”
Two screams rang out. Xiao Jin touched his face. Was he really that scary?
His master said that a smile could heal everything.
Xiao Jin smiled even brighter.
The male ghost, Ji Heng, was scared to death.
In the middle of the night, a paper figure, completely pale, with golden eyes and blunt bangs, showed a creepy smile.
Seeing him, the creepy paper figure smiled even more excitedly, revealing eight white teeth.
Ji Heng’s hair stood on end.
With an unknown paper figure in front and yellowish-brown fog behind, the weak and pitiful Ji Heng hugged himself tightly, letting out a sharp cry, “Mom!!”
The yellowish-brown fog also hugged itself, trembling, “Wh…what are you?!”
Xiao Jin blinked his big eyes, “I’m Master’s Xiao Jin.”
The yellowish-brown fog asked, “What is a Master?”
Xiao Jin answered, “Master is Master.”
Ji Heng twitched his mouth; these two things together wouldn’t add up to three years old.
While the paper figure and the fog were arguing, he slowly backed away, looking for a chance to escape.
Almost there, almost successful.
Ji Heng turned, jumped, and dashed in one direction.
Mom, son is finally free.
Xiao Jin’s eyes narrowed, “That male ghost ran away!!”
The yellowish-brown fog was furious, “It’s all your fault, broken paper figure.”
Xiao Jin slapped him to the ground and chased after him.
Ji Heng didn’t dare to look back, running with all his might.
A bright light grew closer in the distance. He waved his arms frantically, “Help!!!”
Another pale face appeared in front of him, with a faint trace of blood on the corner of its mouth.
That face stared at him expressionlessly.
Ji Heng gasped, “Damn! A female ghost!”
So unlucky, encountering three strange things at night.
Ji Heng’s legs went weak, crying and making his last words, “Mom, your unfilial son can’t support you in your old age, and will cause you the pain of burying your child before you die. I’m so unfilial!”
“Wuwuwu…Sister, after I die, remember to bury my computer and body together, and also the figurines in my room…”
Lin Xi looked at him strangely.
This male ghost was actually a living soul.
A living soul is the soul of a living person after it leaves the body.
Once the soul leaves the body for more than seven days, the person truly dies, and the living soul transforms into a dead soul.
The male ghost’s lifespan hadn’t ended; for some unknown reason, his soul had left his body for three days.
Judging from his physiognomy, this male ghost was from a wealthy family.
Lin Xi’s fortune pointed to this male ghost.
Returning the male ghost’s living soul to his body would definitely earn her a lot of money.
For the sake of money, Lin Xi consoled him, “A grown man crying? Get up and come with me.”
Ji Heng’s crying stopped immediately. He looked at the person in front of him again; she actually had a shadow.
Ji Heng was overjoyed, “You’re a human!!”
Lin Xi felt inexplicably confused, “Of course, I’m a human.”
Hearing her reply, Ji Heng trembled with joy.
Three days, a whole three days, and he finally saw a human.
However, thinking of the two ghostly things behind him, Ji Heng looked panicked, “Run quickly, there are ghosts behind!!”
He grabbed Lin Xi’s clothes to run away, but found he couldn’t pull her.
This little girl was really strong.
Ji Heng didn’t think much of it and urged her, “What are you doing? Run! There are ghosts, really!”
Lin Xi’s eyes lit up, “Not running, I love catching ghosts.”
“Catching what ghosts? This isn’t a TV drama!”
Ji Heng was going crazy, pulling her to run forward desperately.
At that moment, Xiao Jin floated out, followed by the yellowish-brown fog.
Ji Heng saw these two things and trembled, “They’re coming.”
“We’re done for, we’re done for.”
Xiao Jin excitedly waved his little hands, “Master, you’re here.”
Ji Heng froze.
Master?
He quickly hid behind Lin Xi; among everyone present, she was the only normal one.
The yellowish-brown fog floated before Lin Xi, its tone quite arrogant.
“You’re the paper figure’s master. Quickly return my friend, or you’ll regret it!”
