Chapter 6: Truly Weak
Lin Xi looked down, “A little sprite formed from the earth’s energy in the mountains.”
Heaven is yang, earth is yin, both heaven and earth have spiritual energy. Mountains, constantly bathed in the essence of the sun and moon, eventually develop self-awareness.
This awareness is called Di Qi (earth energy), also known as the mountain god in ancient times.
In this age of declining spirituality, this small mountain actually has a mountain god.
The yellowish-brown fog was arrogant, “I opened this mountain, I built this road. Without my permission, you humans can’t come in, and you certainly can’t go out.”
Ji Heng rolled his eyes, “Didn’t I, along with this…big shot, just come in? Aren’t we humans?”
He didn’t know how to address the woman beside him, but calling her “big shot” was always right.
Whether he could go home tonight depended entirely on the big shot.
The yellowish-brown fog angrily said, “Ji Heng, you traitor! Liar!!”
“And you!”
The fog deliberately formed two dead fish eyes, glaring at Lin Xi, “Woman, I’m angry, and the consequences will be severe. Without my command, you can’t leave this mountain!”
He rolled his eyes, “If you accompany me in a game, I can be merciful and let you go…”
Before he finished speaking, Xiao Jin jumped onto the yellowish-brown fog and punched him three times.
The fog wailed, “Ah! What are you doing?”
Xiao Jin hit him even harder, “Master, I’ll teach this guy a lesson first.”
The yellowish-brown fog darted around but couldn’t escape the paper figure’s grasp.
He shouted loudly, “I’m the mountain god, you can’t hit me!!”
Xiao Jin snorted, “You’re the mountain god? I’m the mine god.”
Back then, he owned three gold mines, five silver mines, six copper mines, and ten iron mines; that entire mountain was under his control.
Unfortunately, after waking up from a nap, all those mines were gone.
Xiao Jin landed a powerful blow, “Little mountain god, daring to be arrogant in front of me!”
The yellowish-brown fog was beaten down, its color fading. He quickly begged for mercy, “Brother Jin, Brother Jin, I was wrong, I really was wrong.”
Xiao Jin stopped, dragged the fog to Lin Xi’s side, and grinned, “Master, what should we do with this guy?”
Lin Xi looked down at the little thing on the ground.
It’s not easy for mountain earth energy to take shape; there’s actually a Di Qi (earth energy) being next to the graveyard.
This place is no longer suitable for a Di Qi (earth energy) being; without offerings of incense and merit, the Di Qi being will soon dissipate between heaven and earth.
Lin Xi was missing a paper figure for the five elements (metal, wood, water, fire, earth).
She patted the little fog, “Since you have consciousness, would you like to follow me?”
The yellowish-brown fog blurted out, “I’m the mountain god, I absolutely can’t follow a human.”
Xiao Jin gave him a look, and the yellowish-brown fog, in a pinched voice, spoke in a sweet, girly tone, “Master, I’m willing to follow you and Brother Jin~”
There’s an old human saying, “Those who adapt to the times thrive.”
The master of Brother Jin exuded a faint purple qi; following her was definitely the right choice.
Lin Xi took out yellow paper from her bag and cut out a small paper figure. She blew on it, and the little paper figure stood on the ground.
The yellowish-brown fog looked at it.
The little paper figure wore a yellow dress and had two buns on its head. Its appearance was lifelike, except it had no eyes.
The fog was very sensible and slipped into the little paper figure’s body. It bounced twice in place and sweetly called out, “Thank you, Master~”
Lin Xi patted its head, “From now on, your name is Xiao Tu (Little Earth).”
“Yes, Master.” Xiao Tu completely lost his previous arrogance and obediently stayed by her side.
Lin Xi glanced at Ji Heng, “What’s the story between you two?”
Xiao Tu answered truthfully, “Master, I was bored and wanted someone to play with me, so Ji Heng agreed to play games with me, so I brought him to the mountain.”
Ji Heng retorted, “When did I agree to play games?”
Xiao Tu looked aggrieved, “In your dream that day, you agreed. You even took my flower.”
Ji Heng remembered that strange dream, “So it was you playing tricks.”
Lin Xi scanned them both, “Explain clearly.”
Ji Heng began to cry.
Lin Xi pieced together the whole story from him and Xiao Tu.
Three days ago, Ji Heng accompanied a friend to the graveyard to pay respects and had a dream on his way back.
In the dream, a little girl stood alone by the roadside, holding a flower, looking very pitiful.
Ji Heng asked, “Little sister, where are your parents?”
Little girl: “I don’t have parents.”
Ji Heng thought, such a pitiful child.
The little girl extended the flower in her hand, “Brother, I’m so lonely, would you play games with me?”
Ji Heng couldn’t bear it, and accepted the flower, “Brother is willing.”
Then, Ji Heng opened his eyes and saw a pile of yellowish-brown stuff, scaring him badly.
Xiao Tu pouted, “Master, I’m a good person; he agreed to it before I acted.”
Ji Heng grumbled dissatisfiedly, “That’s fraud! You used an innocent little girl to gain my sympathy.”
Xiao Tu: “I didn’t.”
Ji Heng: “You did.”
Lin Xi interrupted their pointless argument, “Xiao Jin, Xiao Tu, go back and rest.”
She rotated her colorful bracelet, and Xiao Jin and Xiao Tu turned into two streams of light, instantly disappearing.
Ji Heng was dumbfounded; this world was too magical.
However, he realized one thing: the woman beside him was a big shot, a super big shot; he absolutely had to cling to her.
Ji Heng tentatively said, “Big shot, can I go home to take a look before I reincarnate?”
Lin Xi said, “You haven’t died yet. I came here tonight to send you home.”
Xiao Tu wanted Ji Heng to play games with him because this guy’s soul was very pure.
In other words, Ji Heng was very simple-minded.
“Really?”
This huge surprise left Ji Heng reeling. He stammered, “Big shot, did you come to this ghostly place specifically for me?”
Lin Xi nodded, “You could say that.”
She was after Ji Heng’s money.
Her master said that mentioning money directly was too blunt, so Lin Xi reminded him indirectly, “I saved you, you must repay me.”
Ji Heng nodded frantically, “Of course, of course…”
What could be so valuable that this big shot would stay up late at night and come to the mountain to save him?
Money was too ordinary, jewelry too tacky.
Could the big shot be after him?!
Ji Heng secretly glanced at Lin Xi.
Upon closer inspection, the big shot had exquisite features, a well-proportioned figure, and fair skin.
If…it wasn’t impossible.
“What are you grinning about? Hurry up and go!”
Lin Xi lightly pushed him, and Ji Heng fell face-first, rolling three times on the grass, getting a mouthful of dirt.
He silently cried, “Big shot, be gentler next time.”
“So weak, hurry up and keep up.”
Lin Xi withdrew her hand and walked ahead.
Ji Heng touched the wound on his face and immediately dismissed his previous thoughts, hoping the big shot wasn’t after him.
He, a mere mortal, was unworthy of the big shot.
The big shot could only be admired from afar, not defiled.
Seeing Lin Xi walking further and further away, Ji Heng ran after her with all his might.
“Big shot, wait for me——”
