Chapter 14: Doudou

Sang Tian turned her head away, no longer looking at him.

The air was tense.

Even without looking at Bo Si’s face, she could imagine his expression.

The stalemate lasted a long time, only a few minutes in reality, but it felt like centuries.

Bo Si’s gaze was tangible, falling on her, making her feel like she was under a microscope, uncomfortable all over.

Just when she was about to give up and issue another eviction order, a cold voice came, “Sang Tian, you’re doing great.”

Bo Si said it almost through gritted teeth.

Sang Tian raised an eyebrow, crossed her arms, and straightened her back, “Of course I’m doing great!”

The man got up, straightened his clothes, and left directly.

Just as his hand was on the doorknob, Sang Tian called out to him.

Bo Si turned his head to look at her.

The woman sat on the champagne-colored single sofa, her long hair cascaded down her back, strands of it drifted into his heart, he could even imagine the feeling of the soft strands brushing against his skin.

She had removed her makeup, her face was bare, clear and real, less bright, more serene.

But those were just appearances, she was aggressive at her core.

“Since you’ve let Jiang Wantang move into Xi Garden, it’s not good for my things to stay there anymore. Have Assistant Ouyang bring my diary and Doudou over, throw away the rest!”

Doudou was a stray cat Sang Tian had picked up in high school, she had been with it for many years, and they had a deep bond.

The bar was crowded and the environment was complicated, it wasn’t suitable for raising it, so she had to settle it in Bo Si’s villa.

Xi Garden was large, with a dedicated cat house, and someone to take care of it. Sang Tian didn’t want to cause trouble.

But it was her beloved treasure, she wasn’t there, and Bo Si wasn’t a person who loved small animals, he wouldn’t take care of it at all. The new mistress might not like it either, what if she abused it?

So, she had to take it away.

Bo Si didn’t speak.

His face, which had been filled with anger, was now heavy.

He shouldn’t have this expression.

Sang Tian frowned, a premonition was about to emerge, but she didn’t dare to think about it.

She tentatively said, “Is Doudou sick?”

Doudou was getting old, it was prone to getting sick in winter or during the changing seasons. Sang Tian could only guess in this direction.

Bo Si’s expression became even heavier, “I’ll buy you a new one.”

“What do you mean buy a new one?” The tight string in Sang Tian’s mind snapped, she suddenly stood up from the sofa, she even forgot to cross her arms to cover the awkwardness, she stood straight in place.

She had loved cats since she was a child.

One of her childhood dreams was to raise a cat that belonged to her.

But Old Madam Bo hated cats, she would catch them all and kill them if she saw them.

So, there weren’t even any cat hairs around the Bo family’s old mansion, let alone cats.

Naturally, she didn’t dare to raise one.

Later, when she was in high school, she accidentally picked up Doudou, and she could only raise it in a pet store outside.

Every time she went to see Doudou, she had to find a place to take a shower before she dared to go home.

Every time she went home, she was anxious, afraid that she hadn’t cleaned up a single cat hair, and Old Madam Bo would be allergic. Not only would she suffer, but Doudou might not survive either.

She endured this for several years, until she brought it to Xi Garden.

Doudou was more than just a pet to her, it was a comfort to her soul.

“It’s just an ordinary cat, if you like, I can open a cat cafe for you, you can have any cat you want.”

Bo Si’s tone was casual.

“What’s wrong with Doudou?!”

“I’ll have Ouyang Heng choose one for you tomorrow.”

Sang Tian took two or three steps closer, grabbed Bo Si’s arm, and squeezed it tightly, “I’m asking you what’s wrong with Doudou!”

Bo Si’s thin lips were tightly pressed together, he looked at the woman’s reddened eyes, and told the truth, “It’s dead.”

“Dead? It was fine the other day, how could it die?”

“Wantang is allergic to animal hair…”

Sang Tian remembered, when she was in the hospital, Jiang Wantang was being rescued, and at that time, it was said that she was allergic to animal hair.

“So you killed Doudou?”

“What did Doudou do wrong?”

“It didn’t know she was allergic to animal hair!”

She had escaped Old Madam Bo, but she hadn’t escaped Bo Si!

She shouldn’t have brought it to Xi Garden!

“Get out! You get out of here!”

“It’s just an animal, is it worth you getting angry at me for it?!”

Animal?

Sang Tian’s eyes were full of disbelief. It turned out that in his eyes, the treasure she cherished and loved was just an animal?

“Get out of here now, I don’t want to see you again!”

“Sang Tian! Know your place, who are you telling to get out? Don’t be ungrateful!”

Sang Tian was furious, she completely forgot to be afraid.

Since he wouldn’t leave, then she would leave!

She turned around, put on her coat, grabbed her bag, and rushed out of the hotel.

The November night was unusually cold, the north wind howled, as if it wanted to blow her frail body down.

Every step she took, she was overcoming resistance and doing work.

But she didn’t want to turn back.

There wasn’t a single person on the street, only a few streetlights were still standing guard.

After more than a decade of being together, she thought he understood her.

But the truth was, he didn’t understand her at all, and he didn’t care about the things she cared about.

Sang Tian stopped, raised her head, and let the wind blow her hair, it seeped through the gaps in her clothes, sending the biting cold into the depths of her body.

The sky was very dark, there was no moon or stars.

For the rest of her life, she might be alone, no one would truly care about her.

The next day, she was woken up by the vibration of her phone.

She had wandered around outside for several hours last night, she had nowhere to go, and when she was exhausted, she saw the lit sign of a nearby express hotel. She went in.

Actually, she hadn’t slept at all, her head ached badly, she lay in bed, feeling groggy.

The call was from the bar manager’s wife. She knew something had happened, and she cried and begged her to find a solution.

She patiently comforted her for a while, telling her that she had already arranged for a lawyer to handle it, and they would be out soon.

She hung up the phone, Sang Tian rubbed her messy head, forgetting that her hand was injured, the pain made her hiss.

The pain made her sober up, she had to find a way to deal with this quickly.

The fine was a small matter, she couldn’t let all the staff be wrongly accused and administratively detained.

The bar being shut down for rectification was even worse.

She drove to the police station and found the police officer in charge of the case.

He was doing his job, he brought out the evidence, videos, photos, statements… the evidence was conclusive.

There was even a recording of the manager talking in the private room.

“I’m sorry, Miss, Mr. Lou is accompanying Mrs. Chen tonight. Mrs. Chen invested in a new drama and is promoting Mr. Lou. If Miss wants Mr. Lou to accompany you, you can also try to contribute a little.”

Then came the guest in the Feng private room’s outburst of anger and the manager’s flattering response.

“Actually, our male models are also very good, why don’t I call them all over and you can choose a few to accompany you?”

The recording ended there, coupled with the police catching them red-handed at the scene, and the guest in the Feng private room insisted on her story, there was no chance of refuting it. Even the lawyer she hired shook his head.

The bar being shut down for rectification was almost a done deal.

The police officer in charge was even more ruthless, telling her to go back and wait for notice, her business license and entertainment venue operating license might also be revoked.

Sang Tian walked out of the police station, she thought about it for a while, but she couldn’t figure out who was setting her up.
