Bound to the Ghost Officer
Bound to the Ghost Officer Chapter 6: The Ghost Seeks Revenge (Part 2)

The female ghost, relying on the Red Jade…

Li Xin had his weakness exposed. Though reluctant, he had no choice.

He extinguished the flames in his hands. “Then tell me, why do you want to harm Old Liu?”

“Master, don’t meddle in others’ business.” The female ghost saw that Li Xin had no intention of attacking, and became even more brazen. “Even if he escapes tonight, there will still be tomorrow. In the end, he will have to pay with his life.”

“Did he harm you?” Li Xin asked, pressing for more.

“None of your concern. Master, it’s better for you not to intervene in this karma,” the female ghost’s gaze shifted to Chang Wu and Chang You, then to Liu Cheng, who was trembling behind them. “His father isn’t here. Why don’t I start by killing him?”

With that, the female ghost’s eyes turned blood red. In an instant, she darted in front of Liu Cheng, extending her sharp claws to grab him.

Chang You stepped in front of Liu Cheng and took a step back with him, while Chang Wu quickly stepped forward, kicking the female ghost in the abdomen.

The female ghost vanished instantly, reappearing beside Liu Cheng. “You little beast, come here and die.”

Chang You quickly turned around and struck the ghost’s claw that was reaching for Liu Cheng, sending it flying. Chang Wu immediately threw a talisman aimed at the ghost’s face.

But the female ghost was quick, vanishing again and evading their attacks.

“Ah—ah—”

Liu Cheng screamed in fear, collapsing onto the floor.

Suddenly, all the lights in the Liu family villa went out. A cold wind swept through, and the eerie sound of malicious laughter echoed throughout the house, sending chills down everyone’s spine.

“There’s a ghost, there’s a ghost… there really is a ghost!” Liu Cheng cried, his voice laced with terror.

The entire villa was enveloped by an oppressive, terrifying atmosphere. The butler and a few male servants ran out to check the wiring. In the chaos, they mistakenly connected something wrong or touched a live wire, and they were all knocked unconscious by the shock.

The laughter of the female ghost grew louder, coming from all directions. There was no way to pinpoint her exact location.

Li Xin swiftly left Old Liu’s room, casting a glance at Liu Cheng on the floor, and instructed the brothers, “Protect him.”

“Yes, Li Ye.”

Li Xin ran downstairs to the center of the villa, focused and listening carefully to determine the ghost’s location.

The cold wind blew wildly, knocking over objects and causing a constant cacophony of things falling and breaking.

“Master, you should go back. I will take care of this family’s lives,” the female ghost laughed maniacally. “And anyway, their deaths are part of the natural cycle, divine will, retribution, haha—”

Li Xin ignored her, raising his hand to ignite a fiery law flame that lit up his surroundings in red. “Come out yourself, or should I drag you out?”

He had some reservations. After all, he didn’t know if the Red Jade soul within the ghost could withstand his powers. If something went wrong, it could lead to a catastrophic mistake.

“Do you dare?” The challenge in her voice was unmistakable.

Li Xin endured his anger, “Don’t force me to kill you.”

The female ghost only laughed, saying nothing.

Li Xin closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and when he opened them again, his eyes were filled with golden light. He reached out, grasping at the air in the direction of a corner of the room, chanting an incantation. A burst of flame shot out, heading toward it.

“Bind!”

The flame transformed into chains, tightly locking the female ghost in place.

Li Xin yanked the chains, and the female ghost was slammed to the ground.

“Ah—”

As the female ghost hit the floor, a large pool of blood spilled out beneath her, a chilling sight.

“Master, are you not going to deal with him?” The female ghost struggled desperately.

Li Xin retracted his power, but the chains remained, binding her tightly, no matter how much she struggled.

Li Xin sneered and slowly walked toward her. “I’ve always been curious—how did you know I care so much about what’s inside your body?”

The female ghost did not respond, and Li Xin wasn’t in a hurry.

“It’s fine, take your time thinking. But I’m not very patient. Once I run out of patience, I’ll have your soul dispersed.”

The female ghost scoffed, “How I know doesn’t matter. What matters is, if I’m gone, he’ll be gone too.”

“What do you mean?”

“Aren’t you a Master? You should come and find out for yourself.”

Li Xin’s eyes darkened, his desire to slap this reckless ghost growing stronger. He suppressed his anger, reaching out to probe the ghost’s soul. His eyes widened in shock.

“You… you fused with him?!”

“Haha—”

The female ghost burst into another round of crazy laughter. “Yes, and it was his choice. Don’t you think he’s foolish?”

“Shut up!”

Li Xin could no longer suppress his fury. He slapped the female ghost hard across the face.

The ghost’s head was thrown sideways from the impact, but there was no fear in her eyes, only a defiant look as she stared at Li Xin. “Go ahead and hit me, I don’t feel pain. It’s him who suffers.”

“What did you say?” Li Xin yanked on the chains around the female ghost’s body. “What’s going on?”

“Want to know?”

“Speak.”

“Let me go first.”

Li Xin pushed the female ghost away and stood up. “If you don’t speak, I don’t want to listen anymore. I’m not incapable of using the soul-splitting technique. Why don’t we give it a try?”

The soul-splitting technique involves tearing apart the Three Souls and Seven Spirits. The pain is comparable to slow slicing, and very few spirits can withstand it.

The female ghost finally showed fear on her face. “Don’t do anything rash. I won’t feel well, and neither will he.”

“Just a broken soul. Tearing it apart isn’t something I haven’t done before. What difference does it make to do it again?” Li Xin chuckled lightly. “As for you, whether you can endure it is still unknown.”

“Don’t—”

The female ghost suddenly shut her eyes, no longer daring to look at Li Xin.

Li Xin had no sympathy, and the magical flames reignited in his hands as he prepared to act, but then he heard the sound of Chi Yu behind him.

“Stop.”

Li Xin froze, halting his movement immediately and turned to look, seeing Chi Yu standing behind him.

“You… how did you get here?”

Li Xin immediately stopped using his magic flames and looked at Chi Yu with joy and surprise.

His gaze was intense, and his lips curved into a gentle smile, his entire aura changed from earlier.

Chi Yu felt a little uncomfortable under his gaze, clearing his throat and looking at the female ghost on the ground. “She’s a wandering, vengeful spirit who has been drifting in the human world for many years. She has already violated the laws of the underworld and should be dealt with by the underworld.”

“The Lord is right.” Li Xin didn’t care much about what he was saying, only taking the instructions at face value.

“Then I will take her back to the underworld.” Chi Yu walked towards the female ghost and saw the chains on her, knowing he couldn’t undo them. He turned back to Li Xin and said, “Tian Shi, please remove the chains. I’ll use the underworld’s method to bind her.”

Li Xin nodded. “Then please, Lord, lock her up first. If the chains are loosened, she will escape.”

Chi Yu nodded. “Okay.”

After saying that, he unfastened a soul-locking chain from his waist and used it to bind the female ghost.

Li Xin withdrew his own chains and said to Chi Yu, “Lord, this female ghost contains your soul. After dealing with her, remember to extract it.”

“What?” Chi Yu was a little surprised when he heard that. He probed the female ghost’s soul and said, “So it is.”

He looked at Li Xin and was about to speak when a shadow flew in from outside the window, moving so fast that they couldn’t make out what it was.

When they both turned around, they were stunned—the female ghost was gone.

“Is she a demon or a ghost, with such agility?” Chi Yu quickly ran to the window to check, but there was no trace left.

Li Xin followed closely and grabbed Chi Yu. “Don’t chase. You won’t catch her.”

“But she has my soul.” Chi Yu struggled a little, still wanting to chase.

Li Xin quickly advised, “There’s plenty of time. That female ghost is here for revenge against the Liu family. She will come back again.”

Chi Yu paused, then turned to Li Xin. “Why does she have my soul?”

Li Xin shook his head. “I don’t know. The female ghost said your soul voluntarily fused with hers.”

“What?” Chi Yu was shocked because he understood the implications.

Souls shouldn’t randomly fuse unless both parties are willing, allowing their souls to merge with each other.

Li Xin comforted him. “Don’t worry. Once we catch her, we’ll interrogate her and find out.”

Chi Yu’s expression became serious, and he nodded. “You say she’s here for revenge. What’s the grudge?”

“That’s something we’ll have to ask the Liu family,” Li Xin said, turning to the upstairs. “Chang Wu, Chang You, bring Mr. Liu down.”

After speaking, he turned back to Chi Yu and said softly, “You’ll meet the family later.”

“Family?” Chi Yu looked confused.

He had never remembered having any family. And based on how long he had been in the underworld, if he had any family, they wouldn’t still be alive in the mortal world.

As he was deep in thought, Chang Wu and Chang You brought Liu Cheng down the dimly lit stairs.

Liu Cheng had a talisman stuck to his face, and his legs were weak. He could only rely on the two brothers to help him down the stairs.

When they were halfway down, Chang Wu saw Chi Yu standing beside Li Xin. Though his appearance had changed somewhat, he recognized him immediately.

“Master.”

Chang Wu no longer cared about Liu Cheng, letting go of his grip and rushing to Chi Yu’s side. He knelt down and grabbed Chi Yu’s leg, looking up at him. “Master, Chang Wu has finally seen you again.”

Chi Yu was slightly stunned, instinctively trying to pull his leg away, but Chang Wu was holding on too tightly to let him.

“You… you are…”

While Chi Yu was in a daze, Chang You also let go of Liu Cheng, crossed a few steps, and hugged Chi Yu’s other leg. “Master, don’t you remember us? We were raised by you.”

“Ah?” Chi Yu was completely dumbfounded.

“Ow—” Liu Cheng let out a miserable scream.

It was only then that they realized Liu Cheng had rolled down the stairs.

The atmosphere, which had been filled with memories and reunion, was abruptly shattered. Li Xin frowned and told Chang Wu and Chang You, “Get up. He doesn’t remember his past. We’ll discuss this later. First, let’s resolve the Liu family’s matter.”

Chang Wu and Chang You responded reluctantly, letting go. One went to help Liu Cheng, while the other cast a spell to break the female ghost’s magic, and the room instantly lit up again.

Liu Cheng was helped onto the sofa, breathing heavily, his face filled with fear.

Chi Yu thought about his identity and whispered to Li Xin, “I shouldn’t appear in front of the living. You can ask. I’ll stay in the shadows.”

Li Xin nodded but kept his gaze on Chi Yu.

He was worried, afraid that Chi Yu might return to the underworld in the next moment.

“You… aren’t you leaving?” Li Xin asked, wanting to confirm.

Chi Yu nodded. “I came here specifically to find you. The King of the Underworld allowed me to stay in the mortal world, so I’ll handle things here first. I’ll also send a message to the underworld, so they can send someone to capture this female ghost.”

Hearing Chi Yu’s confirmation that he wasn’t leaving, Li Xin revealed a rare smile. “Alright, I’ll take care of it as soon as possible.”

Chi Yu nodded and moved to a darker corner, using an invisibility technique so that Liu Cheng couldn’t see him.

Li Xin still wasn’t at ease, so he exchanged a glance with Chang Wu and Chang You. The brothers immediately understood, nodding happily, and went to stand guard by Chi Yu’s hidden position, one on each side.

“Master, we’ll protect you.”
