Chapter 6 : Wedding
Ji Yu stared in shock at the bridal gown she was wearing, her gaze slowly shifting around the room.
The interior was drenched in an extremely festive red, but this shade of red only evoked thoughts of blood and brought an ominous sense, as if everything around was imbued with a sinister aura. The items in the room were not ordinary but were instead dark, ghostly artifacts.
All signs indicated that she was about to become a bride in a ghost marriage.
Ji Yu knew that some demonic beings enjoyed pulling living souls into the underworld to serve as brides or grooms in ghost marriages. Once the ceremony was complete and a marriage contract was formed, the demon could devour the soul and take their life.
But…
Ji Yu slowly turned her head to look at the old zombie woman guarding the room.
What kind of ghost marriage would involve a terrifying corpse demon of such a high level as the celebrant? If even the celebrant’s level was so fearsome, who could the groom be?
The old zombie woman always maintained a festive appearance, yet her dark, greenish-black face was eerily sinister. Even the joyful candles burning in the room seemed like twisted, ghostly objects.
From time to time, the old zombie woman adjusted Ji Yu’s bridal gown and adorned her with various gold and silver jewelry, each piece emitting a chilling, ghostly aura. Ji Yu was dressed up beautifully, though the attire was filled with evil spirit energy.
Then a loud, lively sound of gongs and drums echoed outside, bringing with it a cold, eerie commotion that was deafening and terrifying.
The old zombie woman, with a face full of festive joy, placed a red veil over Ji Yu’s head and helped her to her feet.
Ji Yu felt as if her body was weightless, her feet unable to touch the ground, as if she were a puppet being manipulated by the old zombie woman.
Ji Yu was placed into a bridal sedan chair.
She sat dazedly in the sedan chair, holding a gold-inlaid jade artifact, trying to lift the crimson veil over her head. However, an invisible force prevented her from moving, and she could not raise her hand.
She was now a bride, about to partake in a bizarre wedding.
Time seemed to stretch infinitely, or perhaps it passed in an instant.
The sedan chair came to a stop, and Ji Yu was helped out.
The sound of gongs and drums was deafening, creating a lively but also unsettling atmosphere. Despite the festive noise, there was an undeniable sense of dread and eeriness.
Through the red veil, Ji Yu could not see what was happening outside, but she could feel countless powerful demonic and ghostly presences gathering. They had come for the wedding, celebrating it with genuine, fervent howls.
Among them was the most terrifying aura, as if a god-like figure from above or a ruler from the depths of the underworld was overseeing the world, suppressing all evil spirit entities, commanding fear and subMasterion.
Ji Yu felt a powerful, terrifying presence drawing closer to her.
She should have been afraid, terrified, instinctively dreading the unknown powerful presence. However, before the fear could take hold, her thoughts began to blur, and she could no longer maintain clarity.
A red silk ribbon was shoved into her hand, with the other end held by a pale, slender hand.
In the world painted in bloody red, the noise was overwhelming, and she could barely hear clearly. Like a soulless puppet, she proceeded with the wedding ceremony mechanically.
“Send her to the bridal chamber—”
As this sharp and eerie voice sounded, countless noises came. They were the shrill laughter of ghosts and the howling of wolves. New ghosts laughed and old ghosts cried, congratulating this grand wedding.
The red silk moved, and Ji Yu mechanically followed. The red bridal gown’s hem swayed like flowing blood.
The commotion around her gradually faded, replaced by a quiet, eerie silence.
She sat quietly on the wedding bed covered with a bright red quilt, wearing a phoenix crown and veiled in red, waiting for her groom.
A pale, slender hand lifted the red veil from her head.
Ji Yu slowly raised her head, her vacant eyes gazing at the groom standing before her in a grand red wedding robe.
He was an extraordinarily handsome man, beyond description. His features seemed like a divine gift to the world, exceptionally exquisite, almost otherworldly.
His lips curled into a gentle smile, and his eyes, dark and glossy, stared at her without reflecting her image.
“My wife,” he said softly.
Ji Yu, in a daze, looked at him and heard her own voice “Husband..Sir.”
The man’s smile grew warmer as he took her hand.
The moment his hand clasped hers, an extremely cold, chilling aura enveloped her, bringing some clarity to Ji Yu’s muddled mind.
However, this bit of clarity was once again shattered under the gaze of the man’s dark eyes, and consciousness was deeply suppressed.
The man held her hand and tenderly drew her into his embrace.
Ji Yu obediently leaned against him, her body shivering from the cold, murmuring “Husband” as she sought warmth from him.
He bent down and held her tightly, “My dear, are you very cold?”
Ji Yu only huddled closer, continuing to call out, “Husband, so cold…”
How could a living soul endure such powerful demonic coldness? However, she was in a daze and passively relied on her “husband”, trying to draw some warmth from him.
The man’s tenderness increased, and he spoke in an almost whispering tone, “So pitiful…”
Pitiful about what?
Ji Yu gazed at her “husband” in confusion, snuggling closer to him.
This display clearly pleased him, his smile deepening from the corners of his eyes. What should have been unmatched tenderness was tinged with a chilling, ghostly aura, and an eerie, terrifying quality.
As he spoke of pity, he gently lowered his head and kissed her forehead, moving down her face.
The cold, chilling kiss forced her to tilt her head back, enduring the frightening affection until the kiss reached her lips. At that moment, she instinctively struggled.
“My dear,” he called out once more.
Ji Yu hesitated for a moment but then obediently tilted her face up, allowing her “husband” to show affection.
Her pale, slender hand instinctively clutched at his collar, her mouth making pitiful gasping sounds. Her fingers gradually tightened, flushing with a delicate, rosy hue.
The house was quiet. At some point, the noise outside disappeared and the new house became an independent space isolated from the world, free from worldly disturbances.
The big red wedding candles on the table burned all night long.
—
“Master? Master? Master…”
Hongxiao anxiously called out, carefully pushing the woman on the bed.
She did not sleep well. Her eyelids kept trembling. Her long black eyelashes were like withered butterfly wings, shaking weakly. Her hands clutched the quilt tightly, and the tendons on the back of her hands were exposed.
For some reason, she could not awaken. Her normally pale face suddenly showed a hint of ambiguous pink, with the corners of her eyes tinted with a touch of rose-red, as if she was enduring some intense emotion.
Hongxiao was extremely worried, unsure of what the young mistress was experiencing in her dreams, and she couldn’t wake her up.
Although she desperately wanted to wake her up, she feared intervening might cause more harm, possibly leading to serious damage within the dream.
In the end, with no other options, Hongxiao took out three incense sticks and retrieved a censer, placing the lit incense sticks inside.
As the incense burned, three wisps of light smoke rose.
As if guided by some force, the smoke drifted towards the window and disappeared into the night.
Hongxiao kept an eye on the young mistress on the bed while also watching the direction in which the smoke vanished, her hand gripping her sword, remaining vigilant of the surroundings.
Eventually, when the incense had burned down, Ji Yu finally opened her eyes.
She was drenched in sweat, her forehead glistening, and a few strands of black hair stuck to her pale face.
“Master, you’re awake!” Hongxiao exclaimed with relief.
Ji Yu opened her mouth, feeling parched and unable to speak.
Hongxiao quickly poured a cup of warm water and helped her drink, confirming that her body was fine and finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Suddenly, Hongxiao noticed that the once moist and clear eyes of the young mistress now had a hint of seductive spring-like emotion.
At that moment, she doubted her own eyes. Looking again, she saw that the young mistress’s eyes had returned to clarity, and the fleeting spring-like emotion had vanished.
Could it be that she had seen wrong?
Hongxiao asked, “Master, what did you dream about?”
Ji Yu sat on the bed, her expression somewhat dazed. “I don’t remember clearly. It seemed like I was attending a wedding…”
“Could it be a ghost marriage?” Hongxiao asked anxiously. “Is there any discomfort in your body? Has there been any change in your birth date or horoscope?”
If a contract or covenant was made with a demon or evil spirit, there would be changes in one’s horoscope. It’s crucial to resolve the covenant quickly, or the consequences could be dire.
Ji Yu calculated for a moment and then shook her head.
Seeing this, Hongxiao breathed a sigh of relief and said, “Earlier, I noticed that the evil aura in the Crescent Moon Villa was spreading, which might indicate a major change, so I came in to wake you up. I didn’t expect you to remain unconscious…”
Ji Yu, upon hearing this, looked towards the window and listened carefully.
At that moment, the world outside was eerily silent. Even the sound of the spring rain was gone, replaced by an unsettling stillness and darkness that enveloped the Crescent Moon Villa.
The entire villa seemed devoid of human life, with rampant evil energy devouring everything. The room they were in had become a secluded space cut off from the outside world.
Ji Yu frowned slightly. Such terrifying evil energy was highly abnormal. She put on her clothes, got up, and went to the window, pushing it open.
Sure enough, there was endless darkness outside the window. There seemed to be something in the darkness, and a silent noise came, but was blocked by an invisible barrier.
