Chapter 35: Celebration
It wasn’t until everyone went to work that Xu Sangluo and Qin Zhiyu finally got a chance to rest.
After resting for a while, they changed locations and continued to set up their stall in the afternoon.
They had originally planned to wait for the rush hour after work to sell another round.
But they sold out around four in the afternoon.
Even Xu Sangluo was surprised.
She had originally estimated that selling around 2,000 pieces today would be good.
She didn’t expect to exceed her expectations.
She suddenly agreed with a saying from the future:
“Women’s money is the easiest to earn.”
Since they had sold out, the two of them didn’t stay long.
It just so happened that the state-owned restaurant was open for business.
It was actually the old-fashioned restaurants and inns that had been nationalized or jointly run by the public and private sectors.
Xu Sangluo went to buy a plate of white-cut chicken, a plate of braised pork ribs, and a plate of steamed shrimp to take away.
Today’s income should be around 2,000 yuan. It was time to celebrate.
Thinking about everyone’s expressions when they heard about the income, she couldn’t help but smile.
They finished work early today, and it was a light journey. They arrived home at a little past five.
“Mom, we’re back!”
Qin Zhiyu jumped off the cargo bed, carrying two empty rattan baskets, and shouted from outside the courtyard.
Because the house was limited in space, everyone was working in the courtyard.
To avoid being disturbed and to prevent people from learning their skills, the courtyard gate was always bolted from the inside.
Soon, the courtyard gate was opened.
“Little Rain, you’re back!”
Chen Sanya opened the door. She was also happy to see her little friend.
She was the only girl among the ten people, and she knew very well how she was chosen.
So she was always grateful to her little friend.
“Yeah, yeah.” Qin Zhiyu responded as she walked inside. “I was afraid we would come back too late, so I came back early.”
She didn’t say that they had sold out.
The quantity was there. Even if everyone didn’t know the retail price of these things, they could roughly guess how much they had earned.
Earning a hundred yuan a day was something that others wouldn’t even dare to dream of.
Let alone earning thousands of yuan a day.
This kind of wealth was too attractive. Even if it didn’t attract criminals, it was afraid that more people would be tempted to sell hair flowers.
They had come all the way to the county because there were so many people selling in town.
No one asked them how much they had sold. It was someone else’s business, and it wasn’t appropriate to pry.
Seeing Xu Sangluo also come in carrying a paper bag, everyone greeted her with smiles.
Now, they were even more friendly and warm towards Xu Sangluo.
Many.
They originally thought that coming to work and earning a dollar or two a day to supplement their household income would be good.
Who knew that they would earn ten times more than they expected.
To avoid trouble, Xu Sangluo paid them daily.
Yesterday, the least efficient one earned 8 yuan.
And the most efficient one, after deducting a few defective products, earned 26 yuan.
Although everyone was counting in their hearts while they were working.
But when they got the money, they couldn’t help but tremble.
Just one day, they didn’t do any heavy work, just sewing and mending. How did they earn so much?
Then they saw Xu Sangluo generously pay them over a hundred yuan.
They were impressed by her generosity and couldn’t help but say that she was rich.
Then they envied the Qin family.
This wasn’t just marrying a wife, it was bringing home a golden doll.
They now hoped that the Qin family’s business would get better and better, at least they could continue to do it.
They had heard that those who had followed Xu Sangluo to do business in town, their products were not as good as hers, and they had lowered their prices. They couldn’t earn a few yuan a day.
Instead, they wasted a whole day, didn’t take care of their household chores, and caused trouble at home.
But they didn’t have to work hard and go out early and come back late to set up a stall. They could earn ten or twenty yuan a day.
If this good thing could continue forever, that would be great.
Xu Sangluo also greeted everyone one by one, then took her things and went to the kitchen.
Little Qin Yan was like a little shadow, sticking to her, chattering non-stop, telling her what happened today.
He basically heard it from Qin Mama and the others chatting, and there was a lot of gossip.
He probably didn’t understand a lot of it himself.
Xu Sangluo smiled and pinched his chubby little face.
“You, little gossip, how many candies did you eat today?”
Hearing this, the little guy immediately looked guilty.
“Just, just like this.” He said, wiggling his fingers, counting six.
Xu Sangluo laughed and rubbed his fluffy little head.
“Then you can’t eat candy anymore from now on, okay?”
Everyone was working outside, so Xu Sangluo put some fruit candies in a small basket so that everyone could have some.
But the little guy had no self-control. He ate too much candy yesterday and had diarrhea.
Xu Sangluo set a standard for him. He could only eat a maximum of five candies a day, and he couldn’t eat them every day.
The little guy obviously couldn’t resist today and ate more, but six was still okay.
She took…
They were all small, orange-colored candies.
The little guy pouted but still obeyed.
He also knew that he had eaten too much today and said, “I, I’ll only eat four tomorrow.”
Xu Sangluo was amused by his pained expression. She pinched his little nose.
“Oh, my little Yan Yan already knows how to add and subtract. It seems like he can go to school.”
Hearing about school, the little guy, who had been shy, suddenly looked like the sky was falling. His face was panicked.
“Yan Yan, no school, okay?”
Although he didn’t know what school was like.
But his third uncle and little aunt didn’t like school, and his little friends said that their older brothers and sisters didn’t like school either.
So he thought school was a scary thing.
Xu Sangluo raised an eyebrow, “It’s not good to be averse to learning at such a young age.”
The little guy pouted, wanting to cry, “Then, then, Yan Yan won’t eat candy anymore. Can he not go to school?”
He could be said to have made a huge sacrifice.
Xu Sangluo was genuinely amused this time. She burst into laughter.
The people in the courtyard heard the commotion from the kitchen and smiled at Qin Mama.
They say that stepchildren are neglected.
Although it’s not always true, it’s usually the case.
Especially in the countryside.
After all, no one is willing to take care of someone else’s child.
But they saw that Xu Sangluo and little Qin Yan got along very well.
Some thought that Xu Sangluo was kind and would truly treat Qin Yan well.
Others were not optimistic, thinking that she was nice now because she didn’t have her own children yet.
But it didn’t stop everyone from praising Xu Sangluo now and feeling relieved for little Qin Yan.
Everyone worked for a while longer, then went home to cook or eat.
After a while, Qin Zhishu and Qin Zhifeng came back, followed by Qin Zhiyi.
As soon as little Qin Yan saw his father, he rushed over, his eyes sparkling with excitement. He shouted, “Dad, Auntie Sang brought back so many, many delicious things! There are red bugs, they’re sweet!”
Qin Zhiyu rolled her eyes, “I told you, those are shrimp, not bugs.”
Qin Zhiyi raised an eyebrow.
Xu Sangluo came out with a large bowl of soup and smiled at him, “Go wash your hands first. Dinner is ready.”
Qin Zhiyi went over to take the soup and put it down before turning to wash his hands.
The little guy obediently poured water for him, muttering to himself like a little chatterbox.
The others also came in and out, happily getting their dishes.
