Chapter 2: Dragon Sister
“Look! A shooting star, make a wish quickly!”
A delighted female voice exclaimed. The young man turned his head to look. Inside a pure white windbreaker, a girl in a stunning red dress appeared like a crinum flower quietly blooming in the darkness, emitting a radiant glow that not even the high-altitude mountain night could conceal, accompanied by a subtle fragrance that stirred the heartstrings.
“What are you waiting for? Make a wish quickly, the shooting star has disappeared!”
The young man looked up at the skylight. Reflected in his eyes was a magnificent and vast starry sky, a sight impossible to see amidst the severe light pollution of the city.
The shooting star disappeared! Did you make a wish?
It’s alright, let’s wait for another one.
The young man wrapped his coat tighter around himself, opened the car door, and stepped out. In the dim and lightless wilderness, the starry sky overhead burst forth with magnificent and brilliant radiance.
This was a spectacle of grandeur and vastness that no optical instrument could capture, only the naked eye could truly experience the beauty of the starry sky that touches the depths of the soul.
Shooting star!
The young man looked up at the sky, waiting for a shooting star that he could make a wish upon.
There’s another shooting star!
Accompanied by the girl’s delighted voice, the young man also saw a brilliant streak emerging from the dazzling nebula, crossing among the stars and leaving a trail of light.
Make a wish quickly!
I wish for…
The young man pondered his wish, thinking about what he wanted. However, he soon lost track of his thoughts because the shooting star, which should have disappeared in the next breath between the stars, was rapidly growing larger in his field of vision.
Roar~
A low roar resounded, and the vertical pupils of a dark-black color abruptly opened, reflecting a colorful spiritual light that filled the spacious cave, preventing darkness from prevailing.
“You’re awake?”
A hoarse voice sounded, and awakened from a nightmare, Deriel followed the sound to see a creature with similar biological structure and features to himself, slightly more slender in build, with proportions identical to his own.
A small-headed and small-bodied, somewhat… adorable? bronze dragoness, her scales gleaming brightly with a unique sense of beauty.
Having accepted the knowledge passed down through bloodlines and attained the true name of the dragon race, Deriel found that his aesthetic sense seemed to have undergone a significant shift. He actually thought this dragoness, whose current demeanor seemed somewhat related to his own, was cute? Pretty?
“I’m Eilenna. I hatched before you did, so you can call me sister.”
Noticing Deriel’s bewildered and somewhat vacant expression, the bronze dragoness leaned in and introduced herself proactively.
“Sister?”
Deriel’s tone revealed skepticism as he recalled the circumstances of his own birth. In his memory, there were indeed several eggshells scattered around marked with scales, all still present nearby. However, among them, there was definitely no dragon hatchling like the one before him now.
“I was the first to hatch, there’s no doubt about that. By the time you hatched, I had already entered dragon slumber. Perhaps because of the presence of our father and mother, you overlooked me. Compared to those treasures, a dragon in slumber like me was inconspicuous.”
The dragon who claimed to be his sister lifted her claw and pointed to the numerous treasures scattered throughout the nest. Among them, the most conspicuous were two piles emitting brilliant spiritual light, consisting mainly of precious metals, each with obvious indentations on their tops where some colossal creatures had once slumbered.
“Indeed,”
Watching the cave filled with rare and exotic treasures, Deriel couldn’t help but nod. A slumbering dragon was indeed difficult to notice.
Of course, more importantly, when it comes to caring for offspring, the Metallic Dragons are exemplary in the dragon community. Among them, Bronze Dragons are outstanding, considered paragons among the exemplars.
When necessary, Bronze Dragons spare no effort, even risking their lives to protect their eggs and offspring. With such a characteristic, Bronze Dragons naturally cannot lie when facing their own kind.
Therefore, it’s almost certain that this young dragon in front of him was born before him, indeed his sister.
“You must be hungry after sleeping for so long. Wait a moment, I’ll find you something to eat.”
With Di Rui’er gradually awakening and relaxing his gaze, the Bronze Dragon hatchling Elena wagged her tail, turned around, and then dragged out from the side a shark with clear signs of gnawing and missing a large portion of its flesh.
“Father went out for something, and Mother went hunting. They should be back soon. This was prepared for me by them. I haven’t finished it. If you’re very hungry, you can have these first, although they’re not very fresh.”
The young female dragon, enthusiastically sharing her food with Di Rui’er, said.
Di Rui’er looked at the shark in front of him, its tail occasionally tapping the rocky ground, and expressed doubt about her statement that it wasn’t very fresh.
Waking up from his slumber, he was indeed hungry—or rather, it was hunger that forced him to awaken from his slumber.
As for whether the food was fresh or not, it didn’t matter at all. Dragons could devour even inorganic matter like rocks, gravel, and even their own eggshells as part of their meals.
Of course, he didn’t currently need to consider consuming these nutrient-deficient inorganic materials as food. After all, he was born into the Bronze Dragon lineage.
The parents are loving and extremely responsible, and his only sister is exceptionally generous, even sharing her own food with him. This is exceedingly rare among other branches of dragonkind and completely unheard of among the Chromatic Dragon lineage.
Brotherly respect and sisterly harmony are entirely foreseeable. Di Rui Er glanced at the three dragon eggs not far away, showing no signs of cracking yet—dragon eggs receiving good care have a one hundred percent hatching rate, with no instances of stillbirths.
In other words, it won’t be long before he gains three more younger siblings, as the hatching time of the same batch of dragon eggs will not be too far apart.
*Rip!*
Without any aversion to the bite marks left by his sister on the shark meat, Di Rui Er tore off a large piece of the still twitching fresh flesh and chewed it vigorously.
During this moment when the awakening young dragon feasted heartily on flesh and blood, his tail behind him began to beat against the rocky ground, emitting a slightly dull thumping sound, indicating his current mood of annoyance and distress.
Objectively speaking, this was quite a good reincarnation. With outstanding and responsible parents, a noble and powerful lineage, one could foresee a very pleasant family atmosphere… But given the choice, he still preferred to return to the high-altitude mountains.
The nightmare that just woke him up, everything he had experienced, after struggling for so long, it was finally time to enjoy—driving to the top of a remote high-altitude peak, admiring the stars with a fair-skinned and beautiful girl with long legs and a proud figure, and then there was no more “and then.”
At least let him enjoy it before making him reincarnate again!
