Just like that? Jian Shuning couldn’t believe it. How could he just send his girlfriend away like that?
“Brother!” Jian Shuning reproachfully glared at Zheng Yuanshi. “Invite Sister Du in! I just made curry rice, we can eat together.”
Just a moment ago, she was calling her Miss Du, and now she was calling her Sister Du? This girl was really good at getting friendly quickly!
Zheng Yuanshi narrowed his handsome eyes. “Can your cooking even be eaten? Don’t give her a stomachache.”
Jian Shuning heard this and felt annoyed, her cheeks puffing up even more.
Du Qingshuo laughed softly, “Little Sister Jian, don’t mind him. Actually, I live next door, and I have food at home too. You’ve come all the way to Taipei to see your brother, I won’t disturb you two.”
With that, Du Qingshuo winked at her, walked gracefully, and indeed took out her keys to open the door next door.
Jian Shuning was still standing there dumbfounded, watching. Zheng Yuanshi had already grabbed her by the ear without a word, dragged her back into his own house, and as soon as he closed the door, he smelled the aroma of curry filling the room.
“Ow, ow, ow!” Jian Shuning cried out in pain. “Brother (don’t)~~”
“You big head!” Knowing she was deliberately acting coy, Zheng Yuanshi’s heart still skipped a beat. He let go of her ear and knocked her on the head. “What kind of nonsense are you learning? Acting like a Japanese AV actress!”
“Hehe.” Jian Shuning awkwardly rubbed her head.
“Stop acting crazy! Tell me the truth, why did you suddenly come to Taipei?”
“I came to see my brother! Brother only comes back to Tainan during the New Year and the Mid-Autumn Festival, and this year he said he had to go on a business trip during the Mid-Autumn Festival and couldn’t come home… Zheng’s mother is so sad!”
“What does my mom being sad have to do with you?”
“I’m sad for her! So I came to see you on her behalf.”
“Is that so.” Zheng Yuanshi rubbed his chin, smiling ambiguously. “And then?”
“Then what?” Jian Shuning played dumb.
Two sharp glances shot at her, and she instinctively shrank her neck.
“You just came to see me on behalf of my mom? Do you think I would believe such a ridiculous reason?”
Indeed, even she herself didn’t believe it.
“Um, brother, aren’t you hungry?” She started to change the subject. “The curry will taste bad if it gets cold!”
“Jian, Shu, Ning.” The man’s voice was like frozen ice beads, hitting her one by one.
Jian Shuning hugged her little belly with both hands, pretending to look pitiful. “I’m so hungry! Brother, can we eat first? My stomach is hurting from hunger.”
“All you think about is eating! No wonder you can’t lose weight.” Zheng Yuanshi mocked.
Jian Shuning laughed, but her bright smile was a bit dimmer.
Zheng Yuanshi knew he had hit a nerve, and he couldn’t help but feel a little regretful. He frowned slightly, then pretended to be casual as he loosened his tie, took off his suit jacket, and tossed it onto the back of the sofa.
“I’m going to take a shower first, then we’ll eat.”
“Yessir!”
“Brother, is the curry good?”
At the dining table, Jian Shuning blinked her big, clear eyes, looking very flattering.
Zheng Yuanshi had a serious expression. “Hmm, the carrots are cut too large, the potatoes are overcooked, there should be more onions, and the beef isn’t tender enough…”
With each criticism, Jian Shuning’s round face darkened a bit more, and by the end, she was pouting and poking at her curry rice with a spoon.
Is she angry?
Zheng Yuanshi secretly smiled, finally granting her a compliment. “But the taste is not bad.”
“What?” Jian Shuning was stunned and looked up at him in disbelief.
Zheng Yuanshi cleared his throat. “You learned this seasoning from my mom, right? I’d say it’s about eight or nine out of ten.”
So that means it’s a pass?
Jian Shuning was excited, her round face lighting up with sparkling eyes. “Brother, if you think it’s delicious, can you do me a favor?”
He knew this girl was up to something with her flattery. Zheng Yuanshi rolled his eyes secretly. “What favor?”
Jian Shuning suddenly jumped up from her chair, clapped her hands together, and bowed deeply. “Please let me stay!”
Zheng Yuanshi looked at her coldly. “You mean you want to live here?”
“Yes, yes!”
“For how long?”
She hesitated, thought for a moment, and tentatively held up three fingers. “Three months?”
The man’s expression changed.
She quickly corrected herself. “Um, two months is fine… Just one month! Brother, just one month, please!”
She bowed again.
Seeing her like this, if he didn’t agree, she might even kneel down.
Zheng Yuanshi frowned, looking stern. “What trouble have you gotten into?”
She was startled and instinctively took a step back. “None, none at all.”
She can’t even lie properly! Little fool.
Zheng Yuanshi cursed silently, his handsome face becoming even more stern, his voice as cold and sharp as a blade. “If there’s no trouble, why did you run to Taipei?”
“I… I just want to find a new job here.”
“You got fired?”
“…Yes.” Her fair, slender neck drooped, unable to hide her dejection.
“I knew it.” The man sneered.
“Hehe.” The girl smiled awkwardly.
The man glared at her coldly. “You can still laugh?”
The girl’s body trembled slightly, but she still smiled at him. “Brother’s company… Do you have any openings?”
“No openings!” Zheng Yuanshi said decisively. “Even if there were, I wouldn’t hire you!”
How cruel!
Jian Shuning widened her round, bright eyes, trying to shoot him a reproachful look, but he didn’t buy it, and the cold smile on his lips became even sharper.
Fine, trying to act pitiful in front of her brother was just asking for trouble.
